WTIU to host 6th Annual Conference on Aging

Bloomington, Ind., August 29, 2022—WTIU Public Television is hosting a free, virtual conference to explore, explain, and navigate some of the issues of growing older. The sixth annual WTIU Conference on Aging will be held online every Saturday at 10 a.m. from September 30 to November 18.

WTIU is pulling together area experts and resources to help participants find the answers to many questions associated with getting older. Attendees will learn what to ask, who to ask, and how to make wise decisions now that keep their options open as they age.

The conference will include the following eight sessions: Geriatric Care Managers – What, Where, Why?; In-Home Care; Medicare 101; Memory Triggers and Gathering Family Stories; Staying in Your Home Longer, and Housing Options for When You Can't; Substance Abuse and Seniors; Tips on Shopping for Health Care and Prescriptions; and What You Need to Know about Social Security.

This event is open to caregivers as well as those who would like some advice on more informed aging. Registration is available at wtiu.org/aging.

The sixth annual WTIU Conference on Aging is made possible with support from presenting partner Bloomington Health Foundation; supporting partners Community Cars Auto Group, Consider It Done, Cook Medical, Gentry Park, Hickory Audiology, and WWA Planning & Investments; and contributing partners Bell Trace, City of Bloomington Commission on Aging, Jill’s House Assisted Living with Memory Care, Monroe County YMCA, and Simplified Eldercare.

For more information about the conference, contact Joan Padawan, WTIU Events Coordinator, at 812-856-2174.
