Stephen and Nancy Dickey of Paoli were honored with the prestigious “Indiana Heritage Fellowship Award” on August 11th night during the “Slices of Orange” segment of the Hoosier Hometown Live Radio Show. The award recognizes a traditional artist who has made outstanding contributions to their artistic tradition and to their community. The Dickeys, fiddle and banjo musicians are treasured bearers within string band music in Southern Indiana. Steve and Nancy were honored with the award for their many contributions, both in their musical excellence and in their role in supporting and sustaining the folk and traditional arts community.
Making the award presentation was (far right) Dr. Jon Kay, a professor at Indiana University who heads up the Traditional Arts Indiana program. Looking on is also Orange County Historical Society President Robert F. Henderson who acts as host of the OCHS sponsored Slices of Orange segment of the show.
