FRENCH LICK, Ind. (Aug. 28, 2023) – Jamie R. Shinabarger, chairman of the Indiana Bankers Association, has been honored as a Sagamore of the Wabash by Gov. Eric J. Holcomb. The award was presented by State Sen. Travis Holdman, R-Markle, on Sunday, Aug. 27, during the chairman’s banquet at the IBA Annual Convention in French Lick. The Sagamore of the Wabash is given to exemplary Hoosiers in recognition of distinguished statewide service. Shinabarger is CEO and director of Springs Valley Bank & Trust Company, Jasper. His community involvement includes service on the boards of Dubois Strong and Radius Indiana, and volunteering for the Kiwanis Club of Jasper and Junior Achievement. “Jamie’s work in the banks he has served over the past four decades, his leadership of Springs Valley and his passion for giving back to his community made him an easy choice for the IBA Nominating Committee to be our chairman and an honorable choice for this distinguished award,” said Amber R. Van Til, president and CEO of the IBA. “He has a passion and drive to make community banking all that it can be in the state of Indiana and in the nation; to lift us up, to encourage us, both as staff at the IBA and as bankers across the state; and to create an environment that’s not only good for our banks and their staff, but for the communities they serve.” Shinabarger is a graduate of Taylor University, earned an MBA from Indiana Wesleyan University and received a certification of completion in executive education from the Ohio State College of Business.
