Merilyn Jo Eckert
March 15, 1937 — July 25, 2022
Merilyn Jo Eckert, 85, of Bedford, passed away on Monday, July 25, 2022 at Westview Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
Born March 15, 1937, in South Bend, Indiana, she was the daughter of Paul and Helen (Rajski) Hold. She married Albert Eckert and he preceded her in death.
She was a homemaker and believer in Christ. Merilyn loved animals, gardening, dancing, music and taking care of those in need.
Surviving are three daughters, Lana Eckert and fiancé Victor Richart of Granger, IN, Heidi Frantom of Hannibal, Missouri, Tami Eckert of Bedford, three sons, Brian Eckert (Theresa) New Carlisle, IN, Addam Eckert (Kimberly) of Springville, IN and Joshua Eckert of New Carlisle, IN, a sister, Mandy Manges of Sun City, AZ.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sons, Scott Eckert and Craig Eckert and a brother, Richard Hold.

Anna Jane Moore, 89, of Orleans, passed away at 9:38 AM on July 25, 2022.
She was born June 5, 1933 in Paoli, IN, the daughter of William and Elizabeth (Sanders) Roach. She married Gerald Moore on December 15, 1956 and he preceded her in death on November 3, 2000.
She was a member of Victory Baptist Church in French Lick. Anna really enjoyed hunting, fishing, hunting mushrooms and being with grandchildren. She worked at Kimball International for over 33 years and previously worked at Traveler’s and was able to work until the age of eighty-three years old.
She is survived by one son, Gary Moore (Laraine) of Bedford; three grandchildren, Ivy Moore (Isaac Brown), Isaac Moore (Kyra) and Bella Moore; one sister, Gennie Mackey and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; one grandson, Destin Moore; eight siblings, Betty Grim, Lula Mae Patton, Edmond Roach, Arthur Roach, Casel Roach, Glenwood Roach, Estelle Gehl and Olive Smart.
The funeral will be at 11:00 AM on Friday, July 29, 2022 at Ochs-Tetrick Funeral Home in Orleans with Ron McClintock officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Orleans. Friends are invited to the visitation at the funeral home on Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM.

Amanda Lea “Mandy” Maze

Amanda Lea Maze, “Mandy,” passed away suddenly on July 10th, 2022 at home in Burlington, ND at the age of 48.
She was born in Bloomington, Indiana on March 12th, 1974. Left to cherish her memory: mother, Beth Cline; father, Bob Maze; step-mother, Rosemary Head; son, Caden Lagle; daughter, Jade Dalton; brother, BJ Spangler; sister-in-law, Keren Spangler; and nieces, Nikiah, Caitlin, Moriah, Selah, Rebecca, and Isabella Spangler.
Mandy loved music, dancing, and people. A loving person with a great sense of humor, Amanda loved to laugh. She was outgoing and made new friends everywhere she went. Always speaking words of encouragement and building others up, she gave compliments in the biggest, most genuinely excited way. Animals and children flocked to her. She loved her Grand-dogs, Capone & Marley. In recent years, she became a vegetarian out of her love for animals.
Spirituality and seeking God was a deep passion of hers. She was at peace with transitioning to eternity. Mandy lived most of her life in the Bedford, IN area, but moved to Minot, ND to be close to her mother and son in 2021.
She was preceded in death by Maternal Grandmother, Donna Jean Hawkins; Paternal Grandparents, Harold & Eleanora Maze; cousin, Nathan Harper.
A Celebration of Life will be held on July 30th, 2022 at Momentum Community Church, 1403 R Street Bedford IN 47421. Friends and family may come early to the church from 10-12 AM to offer their condolences. A memorial service will be held at 12 PM with a potluck/fellowship following.

Morrell R. Tucker

Morrell R. Tucker, 90, of Bedford, died Monday, July 25th at the IU Hospice House.
Born September 20, 1931 in Lawrence County, he was the son of Richard Tucker and Gladys Charles Tucker. He married Ella Mae (Cline) on August 31, 1990 and she preceded him in death on July 28, 2019.
He was a firefighter, retiring from the Bedford Fire Department. More than anything, Morrell and Ella Mae enjoyed fishing together, playing cards, going to the casino, and Cooper, their dog. Morrell thoroughly enjoyed sitting and talking with family and friends about the good ole days.
Survivors include his daughter, Karen Starr, of Bedford; grandchildren, Jason Beretta and wife Robin, Mike Starr, Clint Stickles and wife Chanel, Logan Stickles; great-grandchildren, Gage Beretta, Claire Beretta, Brooklynn Stickles, and Beau Badger; step-grandchildren, Sherlyn Moore, Timothy May, and Warren May.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a daughter, Phyllis Stickles; stepchildren, Patti Sue May and Harold Edwin Mitchell.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 29th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Bro. Millard Jones officiating. Burial will follow in the Cloverhill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service on Friday at the mortuary.

She was born in Bedford on May 24, 1974, to Walter and Rebecca (Thompson) Evans. She attended BNL High School.
Survivors include her two children, Eric Byford of Springville and Hannah Byford of Springville, her father, Walter Evans of Springville, two sisters, Jacque Jones of Springville and Michelle Sanders of Bedford, one brother, Walter Evans, Jr. of Linton.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Rebecca Evans in 2021.
Cremation was chosen with no services at this time.

Angela R. Brown, 56, of Bedford, passed away on Sunday, July 24, 2022 at Indiana University West Hospital in Avon after an extended illness.
Born on November 25, 1965, she was the daughter of Gary and Rita (Dalton) Wessell. She married Arthur Brown on June 25, 1983 in Bedford, and he survives. She worked at CVS Stores for many years.
Surviving to cherish the memory of Angie is her husband, Arthur; two children, Arthur J. Brown Jr. (Bre) of Mitchell, and Ashley Pittman (Andrew) of Bedford; a granddaughter, Addy Pittman; two sisters, Lu Perry (Mark) of Bedford and Cindy Owens (Rob) of Bedford; her nieces and nephew, Stephanie, Lindsay and Stephen.
Angie was preceded in death by her parents, Gary and Rita Wessell; and her sister, Susan Wessell.

Sharon Kaye (Porter) Kern, of Bedford, died at 8:20 p.m. on Sunday, July 24th at the Hamilton Pointe Nursing Home in Newburgh.
Born February 6, 1942 in Marion County, Indiana, she was the daughter of Kenneth and Verna (Spinks) Porter. She married Ronald E. Kern on her birthday, February 6, 1960 and he preceded her in death on March 4, 2015.
Family meant the world to her. She enjoyed cooking for her family and gardening.
Survivors include her son, Chris Kern, of Loogootee; her daughter, Catherine Zimmermann, of Evansville; three grandchildren, Anna, Robby, and Max Zimmermann; one great-granddaughter, Ellie Jane Zimmermann.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; siblings, Carl Porter and Steve Badgley.

Samuel Jon Williams, 76, of Bedford, formerly of Bloomington, passed away March 17, 2022 after a brief illness.
Sam was born May 14, 1946 in Bloomington. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to fish, hunt and golf.
Sam is survived by his wife of 51 years, Sharon (McCullough) Williams; his daughter, Stacy Bottorff (Chris); his sister, Nancy Draper; niece Debbie Draper-Hyatt (Mike); granddaughters, Ashley Harden (Josh); Caitlyn Warner (Chris); and great grandchildren Emma Warner, Addysen Warner and Jaxin Harden; sisters-in-law, Lebra Smith (Jim) and Mila Norman (Gary); along with many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifton “Bill” Williams and Helen “Rosie” (Lathrop) Williams; grandson, Whitney Bottorff; father-in-law, James McCullough; mother-in-law, Helen McCullough and brother-in-law, Kirby McCullough.
No visitation or services were held according to Sam’s wishes. His ashes will be scattered at a later date.

Viola Maxine Rogers, 91, of Bedford, passed away at 12:52 am on Sunday, July 24, 2022 at I.U. Health Bedford Hospital.
Viola was born on November 23, 1930 in Martin County, IN, she was the daughter of Theodore & Goldie Lee. She married Ernest Rogers and he preceded her in death.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Mitchell Senior Citizens.
Surviving are three grandchildren, Mandy Tanksley (Bryan) of Orleans, Brandon Bevers of Bedford, Missy Shaw (Greg) of Mitchell, one sister-in-law, Barbara Houtchins, a daughter-in-law, Jill Rogers of Bedford.
She was preceded in death by, her parents, husband, three children, Terry Rogers, Debra Bevers and Susan Rogers and a half-brother Les.
Graveside services will be 10:00 am, Wednesday, July 27th at Beech Grove Cemetery.

Kenneth “Buddy” Hendricks

Kenneth “Buddy” Hendricks age 75 of Mitchell passed away on Saturday July 23, 2022 at 3:05 pm at Mitchell Manor.
He was born in Bedford on December 6, 1946 to John E. Hendricks and Lucille (Brown) Hendricks.
Buddy was a graduate of Mitchell High School Class of 1964. He was a veteran of the US Air Force. He retired from the Indiana National Guard. Buddy also retired from NWSC Crane and was a school teacher at Mitchell Community Schools. He was a member of the Mitchell American Legion Post #250, Mitchell Masonic Lodge, Retired Indiana School Teacher’s. He was the President of the White River Humane Society serving as President since 2007.
Survivors include his daughters, Michelle Henderson of Lexington, Kentucky and London Hendricks of Indianapolis, three sisters, Joyce Ballew of Clarksville, Lisa Salkeld of Shepardsville, Kentucky and Jonelle Meade of Clarksville.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday July 27, 2022 at 7:00 pm at Cresthaven Funeral Home with J.D. Woods, officiating. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens, with Military rites performed by the Mitchell American Legion Post#250. Visitation will be on Wednesday July 27th from 5:00 pm until service time at 7:00 pm, with Masonic Rites at 6:30 pm by the Mitchell Masonic Lodge. Kenneth D. “Kenny” Murphy

Kenneth D. “Kenny” Murphy, 55, of Bedford, entered fully into the presence of the Lord on Friday, July 22, 2022.
He was a beloved son, brother, father, papaw, nephew, cousin, co-worker and friend.
Kenny was born on November 4, 1966, in Bedford, the son of Michael and Loretta “Sue” (Raines) Murphy. In his younger years, Kenny worked multiple jobs to provide for his children while attending college to pursue his dream of being an educator. He earned his master’s degree in Education and was currently a teacher at Lawrence County Independent School (LCIS). Having worked as a teacher in the community for many years, Kenny’s passion was to ensure that his students received the best and he did so with a patient, caring and committed heart.
When he was not teaching, Kenny enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was a family man who appreciated the small things, and moments, in life. Even after suffering a debilitating stroke in 2020, Kenny remained faithful and steadfast. He continued loving his family, spoiling his grandson, teaching his children, and spreading the love of Jesus Christ through song. He was a talented and accomplished singer and musician and enjoyed traveling with his fellow friends and musicians sharing this passion with others. Kenny was also a Pastor for the Liberty Baptist Church in Mitchell, Indiana.
Survivors include his mother, Loretta “Sue” Murphy, of Bedford; son, Micah Murphy and wife, Danielle, of Shoals; daughter, Alyssa Hildum, of Columbus; grandson, Tanner Murphy, of Shoals; sister, Jackie Murphy, of Bedford; brother, Scott Murphy, of Bedford; nephew, Seamus Murphy, of Bedford.
He was preceded in death by his father, Michael Murphy, and a son, Sheldon Gearlds.

Janet L. Kimbley, 80, of Seymour, passed away at 8:50 am on Friday, July 22, 2022, in Columbus.
Born December 27, 1941, in Bedford, she was the daughter of Danny and Mary (Darcus) Speer. She married Larry Kimbley on June 5, 1960, and he survives.
She had worked at Farm Bureau Co-op and retired from the Bureau of Motor Vehicles. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Seymour and the Gideons International Auxiliary. She was a great cook, a loving spouse, and wonderful mother and grandmother. She was a faithful follower of Christ and a role model to her children and grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, Larry, of Seymour; a daughter, Debbie Hemmelgarn, of Seymour; a son, James Kimbley and wife, Beverly, of Seymour; grandchildren, Lindsay Hooker (Todd), Jena Hudson (Quinn), Victoria Vires (Andy), Joseph Kimbley, and Megan Kimbley; great-grandchildren, Hayden and Aubrey Hooker, Presley and Henry Vires, Finley and Archer Hudson. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Wanda “Tootie” Rout and Patty Robertson and a son-in-law, Brian Hemmelgarn.

Carolyn J. Fink, 80, of Bedford, passed away on Wednesday, July 20, 2022 at her residence.
Carolyn was born on June 30, 1942 in Cardwell, Missouri, the daughter of the late Frank Harris and June Richmond Curry.
She was a retired CNA. She moved from Gallipolis, Ohio to Livingston, MT in 1972 with her late husband, Darell L. Fink Sr. and their four children. She enjoyed years of outdoor life and loved to share stories of her boating and camping experiences. During her years in Montana she was a licensed cosmetologist, a homemaker and had a passion for gardening and art. Her favorite activities were long walks and bike riding.
Surviving are her four children, Kenneth L. Fink of Billings, Montana, Jim L. Fink of Bedford, Alesia Fink Perry of Bedford, and Darell L. (Lou Ann) Fink of Billings Montana; Seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Frank H. Curry and Bill W. Curry; a grandson, Kris Fink; granddaughter, Chelsea M. Fink; daughter-in-law, Jonelle M. Fink; and son-in-law, Donald B. Perry II.
Cremation was chosen and a celebration of life will be arranged at a later date for Carolyn’s close family and friends.

Bettie Ruth Wells
July 04, 1937 — July 22, 2022
Bettie Ruth Wells, 85, of Bedford and formally of Springville passed away Friday, July 22nd, 2022 at 5:40am at her residence.
Born July 4th, 1937 in Willow Grove, Tennessee to William Albert and Zula Agnes (Stover) Stockton. She married Wayne Curtis (Runt) Wells on January 29th, 1965.
She was employed by several businesses throughout her life. At age 16, she went to work at Kresge’s on the square in Bedford. After she graduated from Bedford High School with Class of 1957, she got on at Trav-Lers in Orleans. After Tav-Lers she began her life long career as housewife and stay-at-home mom. Then when her children grew up and on their own, she went back into the workforce at PRD in Springville and at Indiana Metal Craft in Bloomington until her husband became ill. That’s when she stayed home to care for him until his death on January 6th, 2002. Little did she know, but she took on that caregiver roll again with her son, Curtis Dale Wells, until his death on September 13th, 2020.
Bettie was always a member of Oolitic Church of Christ in her heart. She loved God, her whole family and friends. She enjoyed going fishing at the family farm’s ponds, driving the old Oliver farm tractor, watching IU men’s basketball games on TV. But her true passion of enjoyment besides her grandchildren was watching wrestling even up to the day before her passing. She loved to have fun and make people laugh, which was very evident in the last 5-months of her life, as well as the people she met throughout her life. She was a very sweet and precious soul that will be and is already missed, but never will be forgotten.
Survivors include her daughter, Lisa Wells-Dixon, and 3 grandchildren, Elizabeth (Lizzie) Dixon, Wesley (Wes) Dixon and Grady B. Wells.
She was preceded in death by her husband (Wayne), son (Curtis), and 2 sisters, Anna Geneva Johnson and Hettie Lee Diehl besides her parents.
Funeral Service will be Tuesday, July 26th at Cresthave Funeral Home in Bedford with Visitation from 12 Noon to 2pm. Service is to start at 2pm with Rev. Ed Owens and Rev. Kenny Allen officiating. Burial will also follow at Cresthaven Memorial Gardens.

Russell Stroud, 88, of Shoals, passed away at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, July 20, 2022, at his residence.
Born February 13, 1934, in Bedford, he was the son of Walter and Inez G. (Louden) Stroud. He married Nancy Kimble on April 23, 1955, and she survives.
He was a graduate of the Williams High School. He retired from the Ford Motor Company as a quality control inspector and was a member of the Calvary Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy, of Shoals; a daughter, Vicky Terhune, of Indianapolis; two sons, Michael Stroud, of Trafalgar and Russell Stroud, of Bargersville; eight grandchildren, Kevin Hayes, Kimberly Hall, Jessica Twaddle, Heather Cook, Russell Stroud, Steven Stroud, Cristina Lawless, and Kirsten Stroud; 16 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; two brothers, Rex Stroud, of Bedford and William Stroud, of Whiteland.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Cathy Hayes; a brother, Dean Stroud and a sister, Doris Zumhingst.

Gregory Dean Tyree, 62, passed away Thursday, July 21, 2022, at Mitchell Manor.
Born February 1, 1960, in Bedford, he was the son of Robert John and Frances Louise (Baker) Tyree. He married Tina Leah Jones December 17, 1983, and she preceded him in death July 26, 2019.
Greg retired after 12 years from Crane Army Ammunition as an occupational health and safety supervisor. He had also worked 22 years at Visteon. Greg was a 1978 graduate of Mitchell High School and received his Associate of Applied Science Degree in Electronic Systems Service Management from Lincoln College of Technology. He was a U.S. Army Veteran. Greg was a member of the American Legion Post 250, Mitchell Masonic Lodge No. 228 F. & A.M., LA-OR-MA Shrine Club, and Bedford Boat Club. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and spending time with his friends.
Survivors include his siblings, Jeff Tyree of Mitchell, Jill (Andy) Kluender of Mitchell, Jack (Kelly) Tyree of Mitchell, John (Debbie) Tyree of Orleans, Judith Parr of Seymour, Kay Leinart of Seymour, Linda Pennington of Mitchell, and Janet (Sid) Connell of Brownstown; several nieces and nephews; and great nieces and nephews.
His parents; wife; brother, Mike Tyree; and brothers-in-law, Jim Leinart and Ned Pennington, preceded him in death.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 25, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center with Pastor Darrin Chastain and Lee Hupp officiating. Burial will follow in Sheeks Cemetery with military rites accorded by American Legion Post 250 and VFW Post 9107.

Jerry Deaton, 80, of Bedford, passed away Wednesday, July 20, 2022 at his residence.
Born on April 12, 1942, he was the son of Estill and Mary (Brewer) Deaton. He married Clara Guthrie on June 26, 1965 and she survives.
Jerry retired from Visteon in 2008. He enjoyed coon hunting, fishing, gardening and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Jerry was of the Christian faith.
Surviving to cherish the memory of Jerry is his wife, Clara (Guthrie) Deaton; his sons, William Lee (Peggy) Deaton of Leesville and Larry Eugene (Megan) Deaton of Bedford; five grandchildren, Jerry, Kelsey, Kaylee, Brevin and Izzy; two brothers, Billy (Jessee) Deaton and Chester Deaton; along with several nieces and nephews.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; and two sisters.

Marcella Busick, 89, of Orleans, passed away at 8:20 PM on July 19, 2022 at Paoli Health and Living Community.
She was born October 5, 1932 in Lawrence County, Indiana, the daughter of Robert Lee and Dorothy C. (Finkbinder) Hoggatt. She married Charles William Busick on February 25, 1954 and he preceded her in death on January 23, 1995.
She graduated from Orleans High School, class of 1950. Marcella was a homemaker and helped on the family farm. She worked at Travelers, Betty’s Dress Shop, Parks Grocery, Orleans Drug Store and at Ochs-Tetrick Funeral Home for over 20 years.
She is survived by three sons, Tim Busick (Jane) of Orleans, Bob Busick (Deetra) and Bill Busick (Stacy); one daughter, Debbie Busick of Seymour and eight grandchildren; Justin (Veronica) Busick, Keisha (Jason) Garriott, Chelsea Vincent, Hope (Scotty) Dierking, Courtney (Zack) Emberton, Alex Busick, Elizabeth Busick and Linza (Caleb) Mathis and seven great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents and two brothers, Lee Hoggatt and Richard Hoggatt.
The funeral will be at 1:00 PM on July 23, 2022 at the Ochs-Tetrick Funeral Home in Orleans with David Conley officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Orleans. Friends are invited to visitation at the funeral home on Saturday from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM.

Luoma Pearl Stiles, 82, of Bedford, passed away at 4:10 am, on Sunday, July 17, 2022, at Bliss Place in Bedford.
Born June 8, 1940, in Bedford, she was the daughter of William A. and Ruby Irene (Hackler) Baker. She married Willard “Simp” Stiles on July 8, 1958, and he preceded her in death on January 11, 2020.
She retired as a secretary for Bob White’s LP Gas. She was a member of the Fayetteville Baptist Church, the Ladies Auxiliary of Indian Creek Volunteer Fire Department and assisted at Country Sweets in Fayetteville.
Survivors include a son, J.D. Stiles and wife, Toni, of Bloomington; daughters, Sondra McWilliams, of Washington and Patricia Sullivan and husband, John “Bub” of Bedford; eight grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a brother, Albert Wayne Baker; a sister, Helen Irene Terry; two grandsons, Willy Sullivan and Brandon Stiles; a son-in-law, Rick McWilliams.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Saturday, July 23rd at the Fayetteville Baptist Church with Pastor Kenny Walden officiating. Burial will follow in the Fayetteville Community Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, July 22nd and from 12 noon until the hour of service on Saturday, July 23rd at the Fayetteville Baptist Church.

Judith “Judy” L. Landes, 79, of Greenwood, passed away peacefully on July 16, 2022, at Greenwood Village South in Greenwood.
Born September 4, 1942, in Shawnee, OK, she was the daughter of Kevin Paul and Katherine Pauline (Tanner) Knouse. She married Robert K. (Ken) Landes on September 9, 1961, and he survives.
She was a secretary/receptionist at South Central Mental Health of Bedford and attended Grace Bible Church in New Whiteland, IN.
Survivors include her husband, Ken, of Greenwood; children, John Landes and wife, Kelly, of Whitewater, WI, Susan Branham and husband, Larry, of Greenwood, Mary Ellen Houseman and husband, Adam, of Fishers; six grandchildren, Matthew Landes, Amanda Brown, Jeremy Landes, Ryan Sellers, Teddy Houseman and Nolan Houseman; seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, James C. Landes; a sister, Kay Barrick.

Bonnie S. Vowell, 82, of Bedford, passed away at 8:39 pm on Thursday, July 14, 2022, at her residence.
Born March 8, 1940, in Lawrence Co., she was the daughter of Thomas and Glodie (Simmerman) Super. She married William “Bill” Vowell on December 20, 1963, and he preceded her in death on October 30, 2015.
She worked and retired from W.F. Meyers Co. She was a member of the Tabernacle of Praise Church and Moms in Prayer International. She dearly loved and cared for her daughter, Kelly, her grandson, Hunter, and her dog, Zoe. She was always there to love and support her family, and loved cooking for them.
Survivors include her daughter, Kelly Muhney, of Greenwood; her grandson, Hunter Muhney, of Indianapolis; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, four sisters, Betty Glasgow, Phyllis Allen, Clara Joan Tincher, and Mary Super (in infancy); three brothers, Johnny, Gene, and Tommy Super.
Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Sunday, July 17th at Green Hill Cemetery with Pastor Jeff Nikirk and Nancy Eggers officiating.

Born October 8, 1956, in Chicago, Illinois, she was the daughter of Billy Joe Page and Shirley Ann (Wallace) Perez. Lora married Phil Melton on June 17, 2010 and he survives.
Lora graduated from James Madison High School. She was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9107 Auxiliary and a member of the American Legion Post 250 Auxiliary. Lora enjoyed bingo and reading books. She loved all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Surviving are her husband, Phil Melton of Campbellsburg; children, Shirley Lee (Weston) Gabbard of Bedford, Amanda Lynn Little of Bedford, Adonica (Billy) Grissom of Mitchell, Jacob (Melissa) Melton of Mitchell, and Eli Melton of Campbellsburg; mother, Shirley Ann Perez; siblings, Donna Page of Butler, Missouri, Rose (Danny) Walker of Dunnellon, Florida, Robert (Vicki) Page of Ellenton, Florida, and Cheryl (Don) Bach of Palmetto, Florida; twelve grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Jerry L. Shelton, 73, passed away Friday, July 15, 2022, at his residence.
Born October 7, 1948, in Bedford, he was the son of Gerald and Ruby Irene (Lessig) Shelton. He married Jackie Reynolds September 13, 1968 and she preceded him in death on March 12, 2009.
Jerry retired from Carpenter Body Works. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Vietnam War, where he had been stationed in Germany. Jerry liked old cars, especially Mustangs, and going to car shows. He enjoyed woodworking and landscaping.
Survivors include his daughter, Jeri (Lance) Jacobs of Orleans; grandchildren, Caitie Shelton, Garrett Jacobs, and Emily Jacobs; great grandson, Brantley Allen; siblings, Steve (Sandy) Shelton of Shoals, Jim (Linda) Shelton of Mitchell, Sheila Shelton of Bedford; special family friend, Diana Hudson of Bedford; and his best fur baby, Birdie.

Born February 18, 1951, in Bedford, he was the son on William and Moneva (Hillenburg) Davis.
He was a school bus driver for the North Lawrence Community School Corporation. He attended the East Oolitic Community Church and White River Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sisters, Janet Glasgow, of Springville and Joyce Collins, of Bedford; a brother, Dennis W. Davis and wife, Arlene, of East Oolitic; sisters-in-law, Debbie Davis and Nancy Davis, both of Bedford; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Arleen Thompson; three brothers, Rob, Bill, and Claude; a sister-in-law, Brenda Davis.

Anita L. Hanners Batman, age 83 of Shoals, passed away on July 6, 2022 in Buffalo, New York.
She was born on September 22, 1938 in Elberta, Michigan to Louis Caviggiola and Ellen Louise (Blacklock) Caviggiola. Anita first married Jim Hanners and he preceded her in death. She then married Walter Batman and he preceded her in death in 2022.
Survivors include her children, Jamie Hanners of Evansville, Lori Moore of Bloomington, and Jim (Susan) Hanners of Buffalo, New York, ten grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.
Anita was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Jim Hanners, husband, Walter Batman, four brothers, Louie, Bruce, Tony, and Michael, one daughter, Lynn Preese, one granddaughter, Christina Hanners
Anita loved Bingo, reading, dancing, board games, card games, and watching game shows. She loved to travel, knit, and crocheting. She loved making Afghans for family members and lap blankets for nursing homes.
Funeral services will be on Friday July 15, 2022 at 1:00 PM at Cresthaven Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Visitation will be on Friday from 10:00 AM until service time at 1:00 PM at the funeral home.

Born February 26, 1931, in Owensburg, she was the daughter of William A. and Ruth (Lamb) Spaulding.
She was a graduate of the Needmore High School with the class of 1949. She married Elbert “Bart” Bartlett and he preceded her in death.
She had been a secretary at Keech & Grove Agency and an elementary school Aide at Stalker School. She was a member of the Needmore Alumni Association, and a 50-year member of the First Baptist Church where she was a member of the choir. She was a passionate artist and member of the Lawrence County Art Association.
Survivors include three children, Brad Bartlett and Jeff Bartlett and wife, Ana, and Angie Gates, all of Bedford; a daughter-in-law, Kathy Bartlett; grandchildren, Mac Bartlett, Quinn Bartlett, Jackson Bartlett, Camron Faubion, Kitch Gates, Keenan Gates, Kristen Turner, Kevin Bartlett, and Travis Collins; eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Barbara Mitchell and husband, Ric, of Bedford; a brother, Joe Spaulding and wife, Linda, of Bedford.

Joy Charlene Srygley, 52, passed away Wednesday, June 15 2022 at Atrium Health Hospital in Pineville, NC.
Born April 7, 1970 in Bedford IN., she was the daughter of Charles Kroft Srygley and Joy (Matthews) Srygley.
She was the youngest of 6 siblings; Patty (Joe) Garofola, Gary (Shirley) Matthews, Debbie (Tom) George, Tom (Cheryl) Srygley and Randy (Peggy) Srygley. She had several nieces and nephews; Tina, Timmy and Tracy Garofola, Robbie, Michelle and Troy Matthews, JT Srygley, Stacey, Tamilia and Brennan George and Chelsa Copeland (Srygley), Jesse Srygley and Bob Young. She also had several great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father (Charles Srygley), mother (Joy Srygley), sister Patty Garofola, brother Gary Matthews, niece Tina Garofola, nephews Troy Matthews and JT Srygley.
Depending on where you know her from she was referred to as Charn (Indiana family/friends) or Char (NC/SC friends and family). Charn graduated from Bedford North Lawrence High School in 1988 and graduated with a BA for Social Work at USI in 1993. Her friend Tori (Smallwood) Evan urged her to move to Charlotte, NC shortly after graduating from college and she loved it so much she decided to stay. She ended up living in Clover, South Carolina where she lived until her passing.
Charn was full of life and loved her family and friends. She lived a very full life and created so many memories on her short trip on earth. She will be greatly missed but she is now at peace and reunited with the ones that went before her.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1p on Tuesday, July 19th at Day & Carter Mortuary with Travis Inman officiating. Burial will follow at the Green Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be at Day & Carter from 5pm to 8pm on Monday, July 18th and from 12pm to 1pm on Tuesday, July 19th.

Born July 9, 1935, in Lawrence Co., she was the daughter of Marvin W. Rivers and Gertrude (Holmes) Rivers. She married Stanley Carpenter and he preceded her in death on January 5, 1995.
She was an assembly worker at Stone City Products and member of the Avoca Baptist Church. She was a member of the ABC Quilting Circle and an amazing quilter.
Survivors include two sons, Wesley Carpenter and wife, Michelle, of Bedford and James Edward Hamilton, of Indianapolis; two grandchildren, Ava and Evan Carpenter; four step-grandchildren, Amy Gill, April Leo, Josh Hancock and Emily Carpenter; four step-great-grandchildren, Jacob and Nicholas Gill, Alyssa Hamilton, Shelby Gill; a sister, Cathy McIntyre and husband, Terry.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one sister, Gloria Deckard and a great-grandchild, John McGuire.

Surviving to remember Derek are his parents, Gary and Dorothy; his brothers and sister, Darwin Lyndell (Lovina) Schlabach, Creta LaDawn (Steven) Lambright, Sheldon Jay (Laura Ann) Schlabach, and Marcus Dean (Rebecca) Schlabach; his nieces and nephews, Juliann Faith Lambright, Kaitlyn Rose Schlabach, Olivia Grace Schlabach, Jeremy Lyndell Lambright, Jolisa Mae Lambright, Lavon Anthony Schlabach, Kaylea Grace Schlabach, Jana Beth Lambright and Alyssa Janae Schlabach; and his grandmother, Viola Miller.
Derek was preceded in death by his grandparents, Willard and Esther Schlabach and Melvin Miller.

Donna Sue Richie
Donna Sue Richie 67 passed away Oct. 30, 2021. She was a 1972 graduate of Bedford High School and was then known as Donna Phipps.
Donna was preceded in death by her mother Janet (Jenkins) Eagan, stepfathers Clyde Phipps and Clovis Eagan and one sister; Cathy McFarland.
Those left to cherish Donna’s memory include her husband Jeff Richie of North Carolina; son Chris (Natalie) Richie of Kansas; daughter Alisha (Joe) Aurit of Arkansas; daughter Amanda Richie of Nevada; father Cecil Melton of Mitchell; her siblings Michael Eagan of Bedford; Timmy (Cindy) Melton of Paoli; Rosemary (Boyd) Godsey of Guthrie; Diana Starr of Bedford; Tina (Mike) Beedie of Heltonville; Lori Eagan of Bedford; her grandchildren Courtney and Kymber of Kansas; and many nieces and nephews.
Donna was a wonderful woman who was raised attending church with her family and loved her Lord and Savior. She was very beautiful, extremely intelligent, and a talented artist. She always kept a nicely decorated clean house and loved to cook delicious meals for her family.
Donna was a beloved wife, caring mother, and doting grandmother. She was a kind-hearted woman who will be greatly missed by all those whose lives she touched.

Richard A. Young age 75 of Mitchell passed away on Saturday, July 9, 2022 at his residence.
He was born in Indianapolis on October 5, 1946, to Charles Henry and Jean (Simon) Young. Richard married Marcia Harder on November 11, 1976, and she survives.
Richard was a US Air Force veteran and he retired from the Army National Guard. He also retired from the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 841. He was a member of the Mitchell American Legion Post. He was an avid golfer, loved camping and enjoyed spending his retirement years in Florida.
Survivors include his wife, Marcia Young of Mitchell, his children, Richard Lee (Sarah) Young of Brazil and Kutina (Jason) England of Mitchell, eight grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, three nephews, and one brother, Michael (JohnLyn) Young of Wauchula, Florida.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents and one grandson, Tim England.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday July 13, 2022, at 1:00 PM at Cresthaven Funeral Home, with Dr. Robert Courson officiating. Earl Leroy Godsey, 83, passed away Friday, July 8, 2022, at Indiana University Health Bloomington Hospital.
Born April 8, 1939, in Springville, he was the son of Hobert and Edith (Anderson) Godsey. He married Mary Baker in 1960.
Earl graduated from Oolitic High School in 1956. He was a US Army Veteran serving in the 101st Airborne Division as a paratrooper. Earl retired from General Motors after 30 years and was a member of the UAW Local 440. He was a member of the Kentucky Ridge Baptist Church. He loved fishing, deer hunting, and mushroom hunting. Earl enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Godsey of Springville; children, Mark (Janet) Godsey of Avon, Scott (Cheryl) Godsey of Avon, and Kristi (Chad) Rayhill of Mitchell; grandchildren, Jennifer Neill, Jill Copp, Erik Godsey, Morgan Martin, Garrett Godsey, Zachary Godsey, Heidi Staggs, Nicholas Rayhill, Jacey Workman, and Jori Workman; great-grandchildren, Kyron Copp, Karsyn Copp, Aliah Neill, Calvin Glynn, and Jack Henry Godsey, Jayven Workman, Nevaeh Workman, Ethan Pemberton, Skylar Workman, Yasmin Wesner, and Tanner Wesner; brother, James (Roseanna) Godsey of Springville; and daughter-in-law, Vickie Godsey.

Born October 23, 1956 in Lawrence County, she was the daughter of John M. Tuddy and Mildred Jane (Robinson) Tuddy. She had been married to David Lewis and remained best friends.
Rhea had worked at Kentucky Fried Chicken and Little Caesars Pizza in Bedford as a manager. She was of the Pentecostal faith.
Survivors include her children, Rhett D. Lewis (Lisa) of Bloomington and Talia Blake of Bedford; grandchildren, Jade Wessell, Samara Wessell, and Drew Garrison; siblings, John L. She was born in Mitchell on March 5, 1946 to Hugh and Evelyn (Condra) Holsapple. She married Clarence E. Smith on March 8, 1969 and he survives.
Huann worked at Wal-Mart for 13 years and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include her husband, Clarence E. Smith of Bedford, two daughters, Misty Thomas of Miami, Florida and Lori Smith of Bedford, five grandchildren and one great grandchild, two brothers, Jim Holsapple of Paducah, Kentucky and Kelly Holsapple of Paducah, Kentucky.
She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, one son, Christian Edward Smith, stillborn.

She was born in Louisville, Kentucky on December 25, 1947 to George and Virginia (Bonney) Barmore. She married William Shaw and he preceded her in death.
Mary worked at RCA in Bloomington and PTS Electronics in Bloomington; she was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses.

Claude L. Anderson age 81 of Bedford passed away on Thursday July 7, 2022 at 6:27 am at IU Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.
He was born in Bedford on November 29, 1940 to Harold and Evelyn (Parker) Anderson. Claude married Carolyn Shelton Anderson in 2000 and she survives.
Claude retired from GM Powertrain in Bedford after 41 and half years. He was a member of the UAW Local #440 in Bedford and Crossroads Community Church. He was a member of the Hoosier Hills Ham Radio Club and the Lawrence County Search and Rescue. He loved hunting and fishing.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Anderson of Bedford, his children, Donna June Morrow of Bedford, Troy (Lisa) Anderson of Ellettsville, John (Sharlene) Anderson of Bedford, Lori Anderson of Jeffersonville, Eve (Bill) Mills of Bedford, and Gina (Duane) Davis of Bedford, many grandchildren and great grandchildren, one sister, Sharon Kerr of Ellettsville.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother in infancy

She was a certified nurse’s assistant.

Born March 16, 1939, in Columbus, he was the son of Horace William and Minnie Faye (Hudson) Yates. He married Mary Alice Smith on March 21, 1958, and she preceded him in death on December 1, 1977.
He retired from real estate sales and attended the Southland Church of Christ and Central Church of Christ.
Survivors include two sons, Rob (Carla) Yates and Darren (Ann) Yates, all of Bedford; six grandchildren, Jordan, Craig, and Chandler Yates, Hannah (Bradley) Carrico, Megan (John) Bohling, and Matthew Yates; five great-grandchildren, Cordan Short, Brienne and Bryce Carrico, Ava and Blair Bohling; two step grandchildren, Kali (Kyle) Wigley and Jodi McCain; eight step great-grandchildren, McKenzie, Keetan, Kogen, Kixton, Kove, and Kavin Wigley, Jaycelyn and Jaydelyn McCain.

Born on March 19, 1946, she was the daughter of Roy R. and Imogene (Davis) Skeen. She married Charles Ross Pace on April 7, 1977 and he survives.
Karen retired from The Times Mail as receptionist and had also worked part time at Edward D. Jones. She was a graduate of Fayetteville High School with the class of 1964 and attended the Orleans Christian Church and the Liberty Baptist Church. She loved to go shopping, arts and crafts, and her Yorkies, Candi and Holli.
Surviving Karen is her husband, Charles Ross Pace; her son, Corey (Jennifer) Pace of Bedford; two grandchildren, Jaslynne Pace and Jerilynne Pace; and one sister, Mary Edna Mathews of Bedford.
Karen was preceded in death by two brothers, Jimmy Skeen of Orleans and Michael Skeen of Florida; and one sister, Margie (Skeen) Reynolds of Avoca and Florida.
Graveside services will be at 10:00am Friday, July 8, 2022 at Cresthaven Memory Gardens with Tom Bostic officiating.

Francis M. Stone, 86, of Indianapolis and formerly of Bedford, died Sunday morning, July 3, 2022 at Hamilton Trace in Fishers, Indiana.
Born in Bedford, Francis was the son of Wayne A. and Ilene (Malott) Stone. He was never married.
Mr. Stone was employed for over 40 years by L.S. Ayres Department Stores. He was a member of the First Christian Church of Bedford, The Indianapolis Chapter, American Guild of Organists, and the National and Kentuckiana chapter of the Organ Historical Society. He maintained a serious avocation regarding the music, history and construction and sound of pipe organs although he was not an organist or organ builder himself.
Francis Stone was preceded in death by his parents and many other relatives with several cousins surviving.
Funeral services will be at 1:00pm on Thursday, July 7, 2022 at the First Christian Church in Bedford with Pastor Heath Jones officiating. A private burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery. There will be no calling hours.

Michael Lee Griffith

Michael Lee Griffith, 77, of Bedford, Indiana passed away on July 5, 2022.
Mike was born on June 1, 1945 to Robert D. and Marjorie (Shoemaker) Griffith, both deceased.
He graduated in 1963 from Huntington High School in Huntington, Indiana. He enjoyed a long career at Farm Bureau Insurance, retiring as an independent claims adjuster.
On Valentine’s Day 1965, Mike married Joy Elaine Stech, his high school sweetheart. He has missed her terribly since her passing on December 23, 2021. He was the proud father of Todd, Eric, and Jodi.
One of Mike’s mottos was “Life is an Adventure.” He was a master storyteller who collected model cars and enjoyed nature, especially trees and bird watching. Mike was a kind man who sought out opportunities to spread cheer and always looked for the good in life.
Mike was a heart transplant survivor for over 16 years. During many years of various health conditions, he never complained. He always tried to brighten the days of his nurses, thanking them for their efforts and asking how they were doing.
Mike is survived by his children: Todd Griffith (Rita Hart) of South Whitley, Indiana; Eric (Michelle) Griffith of Crane, Indiana; and Jodi (Peter) Petretta of Charles Town, West Virginia. He is also survived by his brother David (Pam) Griffith of Huntington, Indiana; sister-in-law Joan Terrel of Auburn, Alabama; and brother-in-law Glenn (Rebecca) Stech of Kimmell, Indiana; grandsons Brandon Griffith and Anthony Griffith; step-grandchildren Nicolas, Beth, Bobby, Paul, and Will; great-grandson Hunter, and a great-granddaughter, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Mike was preceded in death by his wife, parents, sister Judith Griffith, and a step-grandson Alex.
A celebration of Mike’s life is planned for 3:00 on July 10, 2022 at his church, Tabernacle of Praise, Bedford Indiana.

She had also worked as a cook at Mitchell High School and for Robert’s Brass. She attended the Grace Full Gospel Church in Bedford. She married Richard Grissom and he preceded her in death.
Survivors include three sons, Tim Grissom and wife, Lisa, Travis Grissom and wife, Beth, and Tovey Grissom, all of Mitchell; seven grandchildren, Heath Grissom, Shandi Thomas and husband, Doug, Alex Grissom, Dan Grissom and wife, Alyssa, Dustin Grissom and wife, Stormi, Aaron Grissom and Cortney Grissom; five great-grandchildren, Shaylyn, Hayden, Cole, Paul, and Britney.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Richard, and a sister, Roberta Maddox.

Born June 17, 1990, in Lawrence County, he was the son of Jerry Dean Milligan and Patricia Kay York.
Dustin worked as an underground miner and sawyer for Indiana Limestone/Polycor. He loved hunting, playing pool, fishing, riding ATV’s and cornhole. Dustin loved music. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9107 Auxiliary. Dustin was a member of Ruffcut Ministries and was baptized there.
Surviving are the mother of the children, Beth Wise of Mitchell; children, Bryson Duane Lee Milligan and Gaige Michael Dean Milligan of Mitchell; parents, Jerry Dean Milligan of Mitchell and Patricia Kay (Larry Goen) York of Bedford; and brother, Devon Milligan of Mitchell.

Shirley graduated from Mitchell High School and retired from Visteon after 20 years. She enjoyed crafting and doing yard work.
Surviving are her children, Jeffrey (Terri) Mounce of Mitchell and Brian “Duke” Mounce of Mitchell; sisters, Brenda Luchauer of Mitchell and Betty Fox of Mitchell; and three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren.

Charles Edward Chasteen age 80 of Bedford went to be with the Lord on Wednesday June 29, 2022 at Monroe Hospital.
He was born in Bedford, Indiana on November 12, 1941 to Thomas and Catherine (Connerly) Chasteen. He married LaDonna Page on July 2, 1966 and had two daughters, Melissa and Kimberly.
He worked at Carpenter Body works in Mitchell and Sprint Self Self, and retired from the Army National Guard. He attended the First Assembly Church of God in the past. Charles loved his family very much and was his happiest when he was with his great grandchildren. He loved history and westerns and always said he wished he was born and lived in the western times.
Survivors include his daughter Melissa A. (Rick) Nicholson, brother, Don (Vicky) Chasteen, grandsons, Chris (Emily) Nicholson, Brandon (Nikki) Nicholson, Michael (Abbie Knight) Nicholson, Haras Shirley and Eric Goen, granddaughters, Kylie (Frank) Porter and Felicia Shirley, great grandchildren, Bailey, Neveah, Layla, Hadley, Eliana, Bristol, Khoen, and Briar, nieces, Sheryl Yeskie and Pamela Ray, nephews, Brian Sullivan and Mike Boroff as well as many great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Kimberly, sister Marilyn Sullivan along with her husband, Dean and two sisters in infancy.

Born June 22, 1949, in Mitchell, he was the son of Thomas and Sarah E. (Blanton) Enochs.
Roger was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He worked at NSWC-Crane as a welder and supervisor, retiring after 35 years. Roger was a member of the American Legion Post No. 250 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9107.
Surviving are his children, Lisa (Chris) Merry of Bedford and Brian (Jennifer) Enochs of Springville; grandchildren, Kara Merry and Taylor Enochs; and siblings, Patty A. Brown of Bradenton, Florida and Danny Ray Enochs of Paoli.
His parents; son, Tavion Enochs; and siblings, Linda Kay Madden, Ronnie Enochs, Kathy Enochs, Tom Enochs, and Debra Wilkerson preceded him in death.
Cremation has been chosen. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 11 at Mitchell Cemetery. Military rites will be accorded by the American Legion Post No. 250 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9107.

Janet Hanscom, 71, of Orleans, passed away at 3:50 PM on June 29, 2022 at Paoli Health and Living Community.
She was born February 10, 1951 in Bedford, IN, the daughter of Glenn and Betty J. (Jackson) Gaddis. She married Derril Hanscom on December 19, 1970 and he passed on December 19, 2021.
She was a member of Orleans Christian Church and attended Orleans Nazarene Church.
She is survived by two sons, Kyle Hanscom (Clare) of Orleans and Derril Hanscom (Shandi) of Bedford; three grandchildren, Levi, Noah and David; two siblings, Jodi Asbury and Dennis Gaddis and one sister-in-law, Bertie Gaddis.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two brothers, Randy and John Gaddis.
The funeral will be Saturday, July 2, 2022 at 2:00 PM at the Ochs-Tetrick Funeral Home in Orleans with Dennis Gaddis officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Orleans. Friends are invited to visitation at funeral home from 11:00 until service time.

Margie L. Morgan, 72, of West Baden, passed away at her residence on June 29, 2022.
She was born in Paoli on October 23, 1949 to Howard W. Compton and Virginia (Payton) Compton. Margie married Dennis R. Morgan on February 18, 1989 and he preceded her in death on August 14, 2000.
She worked at Thomson Consumer Electronics.
Survivors include one daughter, Julie Emmons of Arkansas, one son, Maurice (Boe) Emmons of West Baden, five grandchildren, Daniel Emmons, Morgan Emmons, Ron Compton, Codie Emmons, Jonathon and step grandson, Austin Lowder, her siblings, Tammy Burton, Barbara Phillips, Mary Jane Compton, Howard Compton, James Compton, Patricia Tuell, Sandy Asberry, Judy Bunch, Larry Compton, and Lori Asberry.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son, Ronnie Compton, two sisters, Karen Henson and Beverly Wood
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday July 6, 2022 at Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Burial will follow the services.

Jerrod M. Bales, 45, of Bedford, passed away at 3:52 pm, on Wednesday, June 29, 2022, at I. U. Health Bloomington Hospital.
Born on February 12, 1977, in Bedford, he was the son of Michael Bales and Cheri (Adkins) Ross. He married Heather Stancombe on August 8, 1999, and they had two daughters, Hannah, and Jenna.
He worked in Contractor Services for Lowe’s. He enjoyed basketball, football, golf, baseball and was an avid IU fan. He was an amazing husband and father; he loved his family fiercely. He was a generous guy, that would go out of his way to help, he wanted to make you smile, and always had a joke to tell and a hug for anyone that needed it. Jerrod was a generous man, and his final wish was to be an organ donor, his gift will help many others live on.
Survivors include, his wife Heather of Bedford, two daughters, Hannah Bales and Jenna Bales, both of Bedford, his mother, Cheri Ross of Texas, his father, Michael Bales and wife Robin of Florida, Kristin Calentine and husband Rick of Bedford, Sarah Adams and husband Shawn of Mitchell, Seth Ross and wife Elixia of Virginia, Jimmy Bales and wife Alexis of Indianapolis, Andy Bales and his fiancé Kim of Tennessee, several nieces and nephews, step grandparents, Jimmy and Jeanine Wray of Mitchell and in-laws, Mike and Donetta Kline of Bedford.
He was preceded by, stepfather, Robert Ross, and maternal and paternal grandparents.
Funeral services will be 2:00 pm on Saturday, July 2, 2022, at Mundell Christian Church with Pastor John Wisley officiating. Burial will follow in Mundell Christian Church Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm on Friday, July 1st and from Noon until the hour of the service on Saturday at Mundell Christian Church. Linda P. Edwards, 73, of Bedford, passed away on Thursday, June 30, 2022, at I.U. Health Bloomington Hospital.
Born September 7, 1948, she was the daughter of William H. “Bill” Folmer, Jr. and Lois (Schwartz) Folmer.
She graduated Bedford High School in 1966. She was a member of St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church in Bedford. She retired from NSWC Crane as an Explosives Operator. Linda was very giving to others and was the caretaker for her parents in their final years. She enjoyed writing stories, gardening, watching movies, and always had a love of horses.
Survivors include a daughter, Ashea Williams and husband, Doug, of Bedford; two grandsons, Robert and Owen Williams both of Bedford; three siblings, Shari Mundy and her husband Sam of Bedford, William “Bill” Folmer, III and his wife Rhonda of Bedford, and Jo Ann McPherson and her husband Jim of Hardinsburg, IN; her nephew and nieces, William Folmer, IV and his family, Kessiah Willis and her family, and Nakia McPherson and her fiancé, Jarrid Davis.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Lois Folmer.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 am on Thursday, July 7th at the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church with Father Jegan Peter and Deacon Dave Reising officiating. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 4:00pm to 7:00pm on Wednesday, July 6th at the Day & Carter Mortuary. A Rosary will be prayed at 6:30 pm on Wednesday.

Clifford C. Emmons, 85, of Bedford, passed away at 2:15 pm on June 29, 2022, at I.U. Health Methodist Hospital.
Born May 6, 1937, in Jackson Co., IN, he was the son of Clyde and Ida (Baker) Emmons. He married Frances Dunn on October 16, 1954, and she preceded him in death on September 17, 2020.
He retired from General Electric as a tool and die maker and was a member of the Restoration Church of the Nazarene.
Survivors include four daughters, Pamela Jo Deckard and husband, Steven, of Bloomington, Camela Emmons, of Oolitic, Angela Moore and husband, Richard, of Shoals, and Kimberly Cook and husband, Steven, of Odon; three sons, Gregory Emmons, of Bedford, Timothy Emmons and wife, Latasha, of Panama City, FL, and Scott Emmons and wife, Jonetta, of Bedford; seventeen grandchildren; several great grandchildren; several great great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, two brothers, Ollie and Doyle Emmons; five sisters, Clara Mae Emmons, Geneva McKnight, Gladys Blair, Sarah Floyd, Laura Stanton.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Sunday, July 3rd in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastors Kevin Hancock, Mark Thompson and Gary Pate officiating. Burial will follow in the Leatherwood Christian Church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Saturday, July 2nd at the Day & Carter Mortuary. Paul W. ‘Joe Bud’ Snow, 85, of Belleview, FL, formerly of Bedford, passed away on Wednesday, June 29, 2022, in Florida.
Born December 21, 1936, in Lawrence Co., he was the son of Ralph and Margaret (Myers) Snow. He married Bonnie L. Elrod on August 2, 1958, and she preceded him in death.
He had worked as a parts salesman for Mullis Petroleum.
Survivors include a son, Michael Snow and wife, Deborah, of Belleview, FL; a granddaughter, Michelle Ann Snow, of Ocala, FL; his companion, Carole Baker; a sister, Grace Slowey, of Bedford.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and a sister, Betty Graber.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, July 6th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastor David Ferry officiating.
