Harold Lee Williams Sr., 61, Orleans, passed away at 4:30 a.m. Wednesday at Indiana University Bloomington Hospice House.
Born March 7, 1953, in Bedford, he was the son of William Lee and Ethel Marie (Taylor) Williams. He married Ginny Linda Wells July 25, 2004.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War.
Surviving are his wife, Ginny Linda Wells-Williams of Orleans; sons, Michael Todd Williams of Ohio, and Harold Lee Williams Jr. and Jared Williams, both Bedford; granddaughter, Isabella Williams; stepchildren, Travis R. Wells of Bedford and Tamila T. Amos of Mitchell; step grandchildren, Garrett and Evelyn Wells, Joshua Amos, Shayla Arnold, and Sasha Berry; siblings, Robert M. Williams, Patricia Marie Johnson and Wilbur Norman Williams, all of Mitchell.
His parents; brothers, James Albert Williams, Roscoe Howard Williams, and Willy Williams; and sister, Brenda Kay Lindsey, preceded him in death.
Military honors will be accorded by American Legion Post No. 250 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9107 at 3 p.m. Saturday, at Haverly Funeral Chapel and Cremation. Friends may call from 1-3 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral chapel. Cremation will follow with burial at a later date in Mitchell Cemetery.

Beverly J. Payne

Beverly Jean Payne, 94, of Huntsville, Ala., passed away Monday in Jasper, Ala.
Beverly and her twin brother, Byron, were born in Brush Creek, Wis., on Dec. 23, 1919, to Jacob and Barbara (Breitenfeld) Leland. She married the love of her life, Charles Joseph Payne, on Nov. 29, 1940, just before he was assigned to a 5-year tour of duty in Europe during World War II. The Paynes lived overseas for an extended period of time in both Quito, Ecuador and Santiago, Chile, and were reassigned to Redstone Arsenal in 1958 after having duty assignments in such places as Washington, D.C., Virginia, Michigan, Massachusetts, Kansas, California, Kentucky, Ohio, Oklahoma, Wisconsin and Indiana.
Bev, as she liked to be called, was an avid golfer, belonging to the Alabama Women’s Golf Association and Redstone Arsenal Women’s Golf Group. In 1970, at the age of 51, Bev graduated from the University of Alabama, Huntsville, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in History. She achieved noteworthy mention in Who’s Who in American Colleges and Universities and was chosen Outstanding Graduate by the Alabama Historical Society.
Bev was quite active in the Huntsville community, serving as a Red Cross and Grey Ladies Volunteer, Girl Scout Leader, Voter Precinct Captain, Lutheran Bible Studies Group Neighborhood Watch, Hospice Family Cares, AAUW, chairman of the RSA Ladies Golf Tournament, Member of Grace Lutheran Church, Women’s Altar Guild, and Huntsville Botanical Gardens Volunteer.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a twin brother, Byron Leland; two halfsisters, Madeline Wallace and Frances Moen; seven halfbrothers in Montana and South Dakota; and her loving husband, Colonel (Ret.) Charles Joseph Payne.
Those left to cherish her memory are two daughters, Linda Beverly Maddry of Austin, Texas and Dr. Bette Leigh-Payne Dow of Arlington, Va.; three grandchildren, Charles J. Dow (C. Jay) of San Francisco, Calif., Lisa Maddry Lyons of Texas and Maj. Scott Maddry of Wash.; five great-grandchildren, Emily Elizabeth Dow, Hannah Rose Dow, Samantha Elle Lyons, Brooke Elizabeth Lyons, and Kyle Maddry; as well as numerous nieces and nephews throughout Wisconsin and Minnesota.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Grace Lutheran Church. Inurnment will be in Green Hill Cemetery in Bedford on Monday, Aug. 4.

Janice K. Blackwell, 77, of Bedford, died at 9:11 p.m. Sunday at Indiana University Health, Bedford.
Born Feb. 8, 1937, in Bedford, she was the daughter of Otho Smith and Addie Mae (Smoot) Smith. She married Jack Blackwell on June 27, 1953. He preceded her in death on June 17, 2009.
Janice earned a B.A. in Education, 1972, from Indiana University, Bloomington and went on to earn her Masters in Education. She was a retired teacher with the North Lawrence Community Schools, having taught 23 years. She touched the lives of hundreds of children through NLCS.
She was a member of First Baptist Church, Bedford.
Surviving are her daughter, Julie Blackwell Chase of Bedford; two sons, James R. (Julie) Blackwell of Atlanta, Ga., and Jeffrey S. Blackwell of Bedford; grandchildren, Kyle (Kyle) Chase of West Baden, Kory (Jamie) Chase of Tampa, Fla., Kip (Nicole) Chase of Shanghai, China, Kevin (Megan) Chase of Redding, Calif., Nate (Amanda) Blackwell and Chad (Nicolle) Blackwell, both of Atlanta, Ga., and Jacke Blackwell and Logan Blackwell, both of Fishers; great-grandchildren Kannon, Konner, Jack, Andy, Will, Kenton, Marlee, Brayden and McKenna; and one brother, Warren Smith of Bedford.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers, Chester and Lowell Smith; and one sister, Charlotte Lewis.

Patrick Kim Yeskie, 60, of Bedford, passed away at 4:25 a.m. on Sunday at Indiana University Health Bedford Hospital.
Born May 28, 1954, in Bedford, he was the son of Harold and June (Soeder) Yeskie. He married Sheryl Sullivan on Oct. 7, 1978; and she survives.
He was a graduate of Oolitic High School, Class of 1972. He attended Greenville College in Illinois. He also attended IU, Bloomington, and Oakland City University.
He was a cost analyst for ESPY Services.
He was a member of LifePoint Church in Bedford, a past president of Bedford Optimists, and a member of Promise Keepers.
Surviving are his wife, Sheryl Yeskie of Bedford; one son, Christopher (Erin) Yeskie of Muncie; one daughter, Amanda (Jason) Bell of Bedford; five grandchildren, Austin, Aiden, Jackson, and Logan Yeskie, and Chandler Bell; two brothers, William (Rose) Yeskie of Norwood, N.C., and Troy (Franz) Yeskie, of Bedford; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and one nephew, David Yeskie.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. on Wednesday at Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home, with Pastor Kevin Andry officiating. Burial will be in Beech Grove Cemetery.

He was a member of Heltonville Christian Church.
He is survived by his wife; brother, Robert Huddleston; sister, Ellen Brown; children, Dalene, Fredrick, Genea Rose and Kenneth; grandchildren, Jonnetta, John Cox Jr., Kelly Smith, Phillip Smith Jr., and Jennifer and Rachel May, great-grandchildren, Michael Lester, Amaris Rose and Reese Baker; stepchildren, Kathi Owens, Ronnie Miller, Rose Miller and Bonnie Taylor; stepgrandchildren, Lance, Randy, Jesse, Alisha, Brook and Ashley; and step-great-grandchildren, Christipher, Samantha, Sean Conner, Bo James, Layne, Haylee Jo, Trixton, Cynanthy, Haylee, Emilee, Whitlee, Conner Riley and Gage.

John F. “Jack” Chorley Jr., 66, of Las Vegas, Nev., formerly of Bedford, died at 11:24 p.m. on July 18 at Mountain View Hospital in Las Vegas.
Born July 4, 1948, in Chicago, Ill., he was the son of John Frederick Chorley and Josephine Marie Salvio. He married Veda Turner on April 22, 1967, and she survives.
He retired from NWSC Crane as a shop planner and worked in retail at Party City in Las Vegas.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps.
Survivors include his wife, Veda, of Las Vegas, Nev.; his mother, Josephine Webb of Bedford; a son, Dominick Chorley and wife Jamie of Fairfield, Ohio; a daughter, Merci Chorley of Las Vegas, Nev.; a granddaughter, Seashell Chorley of Las Vegas, Nev.; two grandsons, Caleb and Carter Chorley, both of Fairfield, Ohio; two brothers, Jim Chorley of Indianapolis and Dino Moler of Frankfort, Ill.; and a sister, Judy Ypsilantis of Columbus, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his father, John.

Suzanne “Sue” Smith Quigg, 77, a former resident of Bedford, died unexpectedly Thursday, July 10th, in Whitefish, Montana.
Sue was born September 5th, 1936, in Richmond, IN, to Paul Leslie and Dessolyn Weeghman Smith. Sue graduated from Indiana University, where she was a cheerleader and member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. She was also the anchor rider on the Kappa mini tricycle team for Little 500 weekend. The Kappa’s won the race three years in a row and the record was never broken. As an alum, she served as secretary of the Indiana University Alumni board of directors, and was awarded the Wayne County Outstanding Alumni Award.
After college, Sue became a stewardess with American Airlines, and was among the first 150 flight attendants trained on the Boeing 707, one of the first jets to travel coast to coast. She also excelled as President of her American Airlines Stewardess College training class. In 1962, Sue married William Marvel Quigg (Bill) and they began their life together in Bedford, Indiana, where Sue helped form the Bedford Swim Club and enthusiastically coached the 8 and under boys and girls teams. Filled with compassion and interest in others, Sue made friends easily and maintained contact with many. She was an active volunteer at Paradise Valley United Methodist Church in Phoenix, serving as a Stephen Minister, and on the New Members and Hospitality Committees. Both cancer survivors, Sue and Bill ministered cancer patients and were active with the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation and volunteered at the Cancer Support Community Arizona.
For the past 10 years, Sue and Bill enjoyed annual rafting trips down the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon, always taking their children and grandchildren. A highlight of Sue’s life was April 23, 2014, when she threw the first pitch at the Chicago Cubs baseball game to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Wrigley Field, originally built and named Weeghman Park after her great uncle, Charles Weeghman, who also owned the Chicago Cubs. She used the ball her grandmother threw at a game in 1915.
Sue leaves behind her soul mate of 52 years, Bill Quigg, and three daughters: Lyn Quigg of Orlando, Florida, Ann Curtis (Wes) of Louisville, Kentucky, and Lesley Quigg of Whitefish, Montana. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren: Kayt Cabigas (fiance Mike Bridges), Taylor Ringenberg, Jordan Service (Jesse), Haley Cabigas, Shelby Cabigas, Chloe Cabigas, William Ringenberg, Reid Roy, Carl Roy, and Francis Curtis, as well as two great- grandchildren, Brayden and Marleigh. She is survived by two brothers Paul Smith (Susan) and Mike Smith (Ann).
In lieu of flowers, the family appreciates donations to the Paradise Valley United Methodist Church Foundation or the Cancer Support Community Arizona, or your favorite local charity. A celebration will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 18, at Paradise Valley United Methodist Church in Phoenix. A memorial service will also be held in the spring in Richmond, IN.
Horace ‘Ron’ Sanders

Horace “Ron” Sanders, age 74, of Bloomington, died Friday evening at the Owen Valley Health Campus in Spencer. Born December 23, 1939, in Springfield, Missouri, he was the son of Horace and Tressie (Jones) Sanders. He retired from Maxwell Office Supply in 2008 as a well-respected business machine technician. He was known as “Sandy” when he was at work. He started with Maxwell’s in 1963 when it was called McCullem’s Business Machines. He truly loved outdoor activities, especially hunting, fishing, tennis and swimming. He also enjoyed reading about American history and American Indian history. His greatest joy came with spending time with his family. He attended Clear Creek Christian Church and was proud of his military service in the U.S. Navy
He is survived by two sons and daughter-in-law; David Sanders, of Bloomington and Darryl and Tammy Smith, of Ellettsville; three daughters and sons-in-law, Deanna and Ryan Conrad, of Bloomington, Denice and Mike Cage, of Springville and Darla and Shawn Parrish, of Ellettsville; two sisters and brother-in-law, Colleen and Jack Barton, of Logansport and Barbara Bonner, of Springfield, MO; the mother of his children, Linda (Taylor) Sanders, of Ellettsville, seventeen grandchildren, one great-grandchild and a very special uncle, Cleo “Buddy” Jones, of Nixa, MO. He was preceded in death by his parents, Horace Sanders and Tressie Sanders Patton and one brother-in-law, Jerry Bonner.

Nancy Lynn (Tolbert) Crawford, 58, passed away peacefully at 4:53 p.m. Thursday at her family home after a 10-month battle with brain cancer.
Born Oct. 25, 1955, in Bedford, she was the daughter of Byron L. and Alma (Reynolds) Tolbert.
She had been employed at Dana Corporation for 20 years. Over the past couple of years, she worked at the Mitchell Sprint Station where she thoroughly enjoyed interacting with her co-workers and customers.
Nancy was baptized at Tulip Street Christian Church. She was a devoted daughter who took great pride in helping her dad.
Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her daughter and spoiling her grandchildren. Known for her fun-loving personality, she enjoyed laughing and talking with friends and family.
Surviving are her father, Byron L. Tolbert of Mitchell; daughter, Carrie (Paul) Ritchison of Mitchell; sister, Linda (Rick) Chapman of Mitchell; brother, Tom (Carol) Tolbert of Morgantown; grandchildren, Hailey, Riley and Jacob Ritchison; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins
She was preceded in death by her mother, Alma Tolbert; brother, Terry Tolbert; and fiancé, Danny Bell.

Donald Lee Stalker, 76, of Bedford died at 10:40 p.m. on Tuesday at his residence with his family and friends by his side.
Born April 7, 1938, in Lawrence County, he was the son of Fred and Elsie (Smith) Stalker. He married Patricia Medlock on Oct. 11, 1959, and she survives.
He retired from General Motors and was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He loved fishing more than life itself. His boat, fishing and family was his life.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia, of Bedford; two daughters, Tammy Leann Luttrell and husband Dan of Bedford and Shelly Ranae Whaley and husband Scott, of Bloomington; five grandchildren, Lindsey Neal, Bobby, Eric and Ryan Woods, Abby Coleman; nine great-grandchildren; brothers, Robert and William Stalker, both of Bedford; and a sister, Dorothy Adams of Orlando, Fla..
He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, Betty Nickolson, Martha Orsini, Georgia Cobb and Mary Allen; and two brothers, Dale and Eddie Stalker.

Benjamin Michael Myers, 33, of Bloomington found his peace on Thursday, July 17.
Born Jan. 10, 1981, in Charleston, S.C., he was the son of Michael and Joanna (Damasceno) Myers.
He was employed by Millennium Properties in Bloomington and attended Stonegate Faith Center in Bedford.
He will be remembered as a loving father and loyal friend. He was compassionate, hardworking, and fun loving. Ben will be greatly missed by those who knew him. He enjoyed camping, hiking, deer hunting, caving and playing with his daughter, Bentley.
Survivors include his parents, Michael and Joanna; a daughter, Bentley Myers of Bedford; a sister, Jennifer Rodriguez and husband Duviel of Tampa, Fla.; a niece, Bella Mia Rodriguez and a nephew, Gideon Rodriguez, both of Tampa, Fla.; his paternal grandfather, Donald Myers of Cape Coral, Fla.; several aunts, uncles and cousins and many friends.
Per Ben’s preference, cremation was chosen. A celebration of his life will be at 5 p.m. on Saturday at the Stonegate Faith Center, 130 ‘M’ Street, Bedford with Pastors Jan and Martie Spaulding officiating.

Lowell “Bill” Tolbert, 74, Sarasota, Fla., formerly of Shoals, passed away June 28, 2014, in Sarasota.
Born July 28, 1939, in Martin County, he was the son of Archie and Virginia (McBrayer) Tolbert.
Bill grew up across the highway from the National Gypsum Company in Shoals, attended the Little Red School, Center Point School, and Shoals High School before moving to Florida. He retired after 50 years in the home construction business in Florida, working more than 32 years for the same business.
Surviving are his wife, Randy Tolbert of Sarasota; sons, David Tolbert of Maryville, Tenn., Billy Tolbert of Phoenix, Ariz., and Allan Tolbert of Bedford; daughters, Mylinda McGee, Savannah, Ga., and Lori DuBose of Belton, Texas; sisters, Katherine David of Dover, Del., and Wilma Eagen of Bedford; brothers, Albert Tolbert of Mitchell and George Tolbert of Paoli; and several grandchildren.
His parents; and sisters, Mary Maxine and Frances Pauline, preceded him in death.

Born July 20, 1939, in Mitchell, he was the son of John Edward and Savannah LaVerne (Enochs) Reynolds. He was first married to Wanda Sue Flick and his second marriage was to Audrey V. Kopka Nov. 26, 1974. She preceded him in death April 8, 2008.
Jack had been employed at Mi-Lin Wood Products in Paoli and was a member of the Wesleyan Church.
Surviving are his fiancée, Lillian Wininger of Mitchell; children, Deborah Buetel of Orleans, John Edward Reynolds of Paoli and Mike Reynolds of Paoli; stepson, Richard Flick of Florida; grandchildren, Lisa, Kathy, April, Steve, and John III; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Phyllis Foster of Mitchell; and a brother, Larry J. Reynolds of Bluffton.
His parents; wife; and siblings, Norma Jean Graham, Barbara Reynolds, and Bill Reynolds; and a niece, preceded him in death.

Born March 31, 1942, in Lawrence County, he was the son of George Richard and Anna Bernice (Meadows) Kelly. He married Donna Michael on May 28, 1988, and she survives.
He was a plasterer.

Born May 11, 1918, in Mitchell, she was the daughter of Harley J. and Dovie Mae (Bass) Alexander. She married Edwin Franklin “Frank” Arnold May 11, 1938, and he preceded her in death, Dec. 28, 1975.
She had been employed at Trav-Ler Radio Corporation and retired from Mitchell Manor Living and Rehabilitation Center where she was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary.
Ruth graduated from Mitchell High School in 1937 and was a member of the First Baptist Church.
She was a member of several bowling leagues.
Surviving are her children, Jerry (Pat) Arnold, Constance “Connie” (Dean) Terry, and Becky (Danny) Mounce, all of Mitchell, and Tony (Barbara) Arnold of Bedford; 15 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-greatchildren; and sister, Dorotha Nave of Lexington, Ky.
Her parents; husband; siblings, Robert Alexander, Lucille Alexander, and Helen Henderson; and great-grandson, Brayden Modglin, preceded her in death.

Tina M. Holley, 53, of Norman, died Friday at Indiana University Health Bloomington Hospital.
She was born in Decatur, Ill., on July 8, 1961. Later, her family moved to Indiana. Tina graduated high school at Columbus North.
She then moved to Florida in 1979. She returned to Indiana in December of 1995. At that time Tina and Dennis Baldwin met, started dating and were together until her death. Dennis and Tina have two kids, Nathalie Holley and Tiger Baldwin, both at home. Nathalie is preparing to take her exams to be a licensed veterinarian technician. Tiger is enrolled at Bedford North Lawrence High School. He plays football for the Stars and intends to go to college and play football. At this time he hasn’t chosen which school.
Tina worked in Florida and Indiana full-time as a licensed certified nurses’ assistant at Garden Villa and also worked in Indiana as a home health care employee.
Tina loved to ride horses with her daughter and friends. She loved to ride four-wheelers on trails and to hang with friends at cookouts.
Tina’s parents, Henry Holley and Bonnie Holley; two sisters, Teresa Schmitz and Stefanie McClain; and one brother, Mike Holley, survive and all reside in Burkesville, Ky. She has a lot of nieces and nephews who will miss her greatly.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. on Wednesday in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastor Nouhad Melki officiating. Burial will follow in Mundell Cemetery. Dinner will be served immediately following the burial at Mundell Church.

Charles Fields Jr., 86, of Fayetteville, died at 2:52 a.m. on Friday at Westview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Bedford.
Born April 28, 1928, in Lawrence County, he was the son of Charles and Violet (Pierce) Fields. He married Alta Mae Crane on April 28, 1949.
He retired as a truck driver for the Indiana State Highway Department and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a past president of the Eagles. He was an avid fisherman.
Survivors include his best friend, Alta Mae Crane of Bedford; a son, Charles Andrew (Andy) Fields and wife Grace of Pierre, S.D.; a daughter, Joanne Spaulding and husband James of Fayetteville; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Carl L. Fields of Florida and Wayne Fields of Bedford.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Jerry Fields; a brother, Cecil Fields; and a sister, Maggie Fields Fisher.

He graduated from Shawswick High School and immediately volunteered for the U.S. Air Force and served the Aeronautical Chart & Maps. He was made a Supervisor of Aerial Photography and Research at the Pentagon. He was promoted to Defense Intelligence Agency from 1964-1981.
He married Nita Witt in 1957 and has had a happy marriage, raising two sons, for 58 years. God has given us opportunities for ministry at the Pentagon for 25 years teaching the Bible at lunch. We were invited to start a Bible class at the White House for 15 years. Bill always said” It has been a wonderful life”
He is survived by his wife, Nita Scoggan; two sons, Lew and Steve Whitt; brothers, John, Jerry and Kenny; and sisters, Shirley Fish and Betty Knight.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Steve Scoggan; and brother, Claud Scoggan.

Surviving are one daughter, Julia Curren, of Bedford; two granddaughters, Jana Johnson, of Bedford, and Michele Curren and fiancé Marty Terry, of Bedford; and two great-grandsons, Levi Curren and Luke Preston.

She was born in Lawrence County on Dec.1, 1942, to Othel E. and Phyllis A. (Brown) Caraway. Anna married Glen Fisher on Nov. 9, 1963, and he preceded her in death on Dec. 9, 2009.
Anna attended school at St. Vincent DePaul Catholic School, Williams and Fayetteville High School.
She had worked at RCA & GE in Bloomington. She was a loving wife, homemaker, wonderful baker, and always looked out for and helped people. She will be missed.
Survivors include her siblings, Charley Caraway of Bedford, Danny Scott of Bedford, Jim Caraway of Bedford, Paul Caraway of North Vernon, Vincent Caraway of Nebraska, Thomas Caraway of Bedford, Steve Caraway of Needmore, Gregory Caraway of Bloomington, and Mary Catherine Swazey of Oregon; and one grandson, Ryan Fisher of Chrisney.
Anna was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one son; Brian Fisher; and one brother, George Caraway.
She was a member of St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church and Theta Alpha Gamma Chapter of Phi Beta Psi Sorority, and Knights of Columbus Auxiliary.

Born Sept. 25, 1923, to Dora Ellsworth and Edvina (Roach) Davidson in Mitchell.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Alice M. (McCoy) Davidson, whom he married on Nov. 22, 1947, in Bedford, Ky. He then married Martha C. (Mitchell) Davidson on Dec. 17, 2005.
He served in the Navy during World War II and served as a Captain in the Civil Air Patrol. He retired from General Motors, was a member of the Fairview Community Church in Bedford, the Bedford Men’s Bowling Association, and coached youth bowlers in Bedford for over 30 years.
Surviving are his wife, Martha; sons, Michael M. Clouse (Linda), Dean Davidson, Tony Davidson (Diana), and James “Gene” Davidson (Brenda); stepsons, Jerry Watts and Brian Mitchell and stepdaughters, Lillian Lesley and Rebecca Russell; 17 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife of 54 years, Alice; his three brothers and three sisters; and granddaughters, Tammera L. Brouse-Martin and Dawn M. (Clouse) Bartlett.

Robert H. “Bob” Adamson, 87, of Bedford, died at 2:10 a.m. Saturday at Indiana University Hospice House, Bloomington.
Born Sept. 17, 1926, in Fayetteville, he was the son of Noble R. Adamson and Viola (Smith) Adamson. He married Dorothy Jane Wray on April 17, 1949, and she survives.
Bob was a graduate of Fayetteville High School, Class of 1944 and received his Bachelor of Education from Indiana University, Bloomington.
Bob was owner of the Adamson Agency Insurance, Bedford, and had previously managed the Bedford License Branch, 1953-1956. He had worked 32 years in public service as Lawrence County Auditor, four terms; Lawrence County School Board, two terms; Lawrence County Commissioner, including President of the Commissioners; Lawrence County Council and the Dunn Hospital Board of Directors.
Bob was a member of Central Church of Christ, Bedford, where he served as a song leader. He also sang at many weddings and funerals over the years.
He was a member of Bedford Lions Club and is a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in World War 2.
Surviving are his wife, Dorothy Adamson of Bedford; four daughters, Cassandra Gould, of Greenwood, Susan (Jim) Silver of Fort Wayne, Deborah (Rick) Robbins of Winter Garden, Fla., and Evalyn (David) Walton of Clay City; seven grandchildren, Carrie Gould, Matthew (Ashley) Gould, Megan Robbins, Bryana (Derrick) Rodgers, Daniel Walton, Hannah Walton and Benjamin Silver; six great-grandsons; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Oral, Roy, Paul and Thomas Adamson; two sisters, Annabelle Spinks and Elsie Loveall and one son-in-law, Mike Gould.

Judy L. Jones, 54, of Bedford, passed away Wednesday at Indiana University Health Bedford Hospital.
Born Sept. 21, 1959, in Frankfort, she was the daughter of Walter and Rosemarie (Goodman) Beecher. Her father preceded her, as well as an infant brother, Richard Stanley Beecher.
Survivors include her mother, Rosemarie Weber, of Bloomington; her daughter, Nora Rose Sisk, of Princeton; her son, Noah Catt of Vincennes; sisters, Carol Ann (Phillip) Rains of Venice, Fla., and Linda Lee (Steve) Stanley of Bloomington; brothers, Robert Stephen (Leta) Beecher of Oxford, N.C., and Richard Lane (Shaun) Beecher, of Martinsville; and her granddaughter, Emily Rose Shaw.
Judy was a 1978 graduate of Lincoln High School, in Vincennes, and attended the Indiana Business College. She was a homemaker.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. on Sunday, July 20, at Goodwin Funeral Home, 524 Broadway, Vincennes. The family will receive friends from noon to 1 p.m. on Sunday. A private family burial will be held on Monday at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Audra O. Craig, 88, of Fayetteville, passed away at 9:10 a.m. on Friday at Johnson Christian Village in Bedford.
He was born on Oct. 23, 1925, in Silverville to Forrest and Zona (West) Craig. Audra married Clarice Porter on Aug. 2, 1945, in Lawrence County and she preceded him in death in June 2011.
Audra was a carpenter and farmer and was retired from McIntyre Bros. Construction in Bedford.
He was an US Navy veteran.
Survivors include two daughters: Barbara Day and husband Berry of Fayetteville and Julia Craig and husband Joe of Sunnyvalle, Calif.; five grandchildren, Tim (Jamie) Day, Greg (Karen) Day, and Jon Day, all of Bedford, and Jeremy Binkley of Sunnyvale, Calif., and Ben Kincheloe of Nampa, Idaho; 10 great-grandchildren; one brother, Donald Craig of Needmore; and four sisters, Wanda Craig, Anah Williams-Hall, Doris Conner, all of Fayetteville, and Viola Waggoner of Silverville

Born October 6, 1928, in Bedford, she was the daughter of Asa V. Hall and Mary L. (Short) Hall. She married Paul Andrew “Punk” Love on November 24, 1950; he died on March 14, 2011.
Maxine was a graduate of Fayetteville High School with the Class of 1946; she was a member of Englewood Baptist Church, Bedford; a member of the American Legion Auxiliary of Gillen Post #33, Bedford; and was an avid bingo player.
Surviving are three sons, Larry Paul (Cindy) Love, Mark Alan Love and Bradley (Karen) Love, all of Bedford; one daughter, Karen Sue (David) Cummings, Bedford; five grandchildren, Jason Paul Love of Bloomington, Amber M. (Travis) Bailey, Matthew Cummings, Joshua (Tonia) Cummings and Logan Speer, all of Bedford; five great-grandchildren, Madison Bass, Mollee Dillon, Isaac Cummings, Macey Cummings and Abigail Cummings; two brothers, Wallace Emerson (Dorothy) Hall of Jasper, IN and Gary Short (Lisa) Hall of Fayetteville, IN. The Rev. James R. Stevens, 92, of Bedford, died at 12:20 a.m. on Wednesday at Stonebridge Health Campus in Bedford.
Born July 17, 1921 in Lawrence County, he was the son of William Everett and Suzie Elvira (Weir) Stevens. He married Mary Alice Staggs on August 26, 1940 and she preceded him in death on Sept. 20, 2010. He was a physical security specialist at NWSC Crane for 54 years. Upon his retirement, he received the Sagamore of the Wabash among many other prestigious awards. He was a member of The ALOA Security Professionals Association and the last surviving plank holder at NWSC Crane, as well as having a street named for him there. He pastored the Heltonville Baptist Church and other community churches for over 70 years. He started God’s Store House through Sharing God’s Gifts Ministries where he provided financial and spiritual support to the community. His purpose for serving God was fulfilled in part by the witness of praying hands lapel pins, which could be observed wherever he had been. His hobby was raising miniature horses.
Survivors include a son, James Stevens and wife, Diane, of Bedford; three daughters, Connie Johnson and husband, Willard, Bonnie Meadows and Sonja Wilson and husband, Dave, all of Bedford; eight grandchildren, Scott Johnson, Wes Johnson, Mary Miljat, Bob Meadows, Chris Meadows, Stacey Meadows, Dusty and Brad Wilson; eleven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Paul Stevens and wife, Sue, of Bedford; a sister, Violet Cummings of Bedford; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a son-in-law, Dale Meadows; two brothers, Ralph and Johnny and other siblings (in infancy); a brother-in-law, Harold Cummings.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Sunday, July 13 in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary. Burial will follow in Leatherwood Christian Cemetery. Brenda K. Mills, 60, of Bedford passed away at 10:23 p.m. on Wednesday at Indiana University Health Bloomington Hospital.
Born Oct. 14, 1953, she was the daughter of Ralph Barrett and Rose Marie (McBride) Barrett.
She was a graduate of Needmore High School, Class of 1971.
She was a homemaker.
She attended Dive Christian Church and the Church of the Nazarene. She was a member of the Southern Cherokee Nation of Kentucky and a member of the Southern Cherokee Council.
Surviving are one son, Jay (Angelique) Floyd, of Springville; two granddaughters, Tabitha and Chloe Floyd, and a future grandson; one great-grandson, Logan; two brothers, Jim (Dorothy) Barrett, of Bedford, and Tony (Sharon) Barrett, of Bedford; four nieces, and three nephews.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Monday at the Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home, with Frank Ira officiating. Cremation was chosen. Burial will be at a later date.

De’Armand Penman, 59, of Bedford, died at 6:38 p.m. on July 4 at St. Vincent Dunn Hospital in Bedford.
Born Jan. 24, 1955, in Indianapolis, he was the son of Bobby Penman and P. Saabirah Ahmad. He married Queen Penman, and she survives.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, retiring after 20 years of service. He was a key custodian at NWSC Crane.
He attended First Assembly of God Church of God and Meadows Community Church.
Survivors include his wife, Queen, of Bedford; a daughter, Ryan Penman; a son, De’Armand Penman II and wife Keia Penman; two grandsons, Zion and Jaedyn Snorten; two granddaughters, Iyanna Penman and Armani Penman; siblings, Carmen McNeal and wife Rose, Bradley McNeal, Khadijah Omar, Khalimah Marcelle and husband Paul, Khawailah Ahmad, Patrinah Ahmad-Bennett, Tysha Ahmad, Na’imah Ahmad, and Sulaiman Ahmad and wife Millcent; and stepsiblings, Thurmond Smith, Chrita Smith and Abdul Ahmad.
He was preceded in death by his foster parents, John and Erie Morris; and a stepsibling, Senitha Cunningham.

Frank Cecil Roberts, 89, of Springville, died at 7:08 a.m. on Tuesday at Indiana University Health Bloomington Hospital.
Born June 12, 1925, in Martin County, he was the son of Albert and Alta Mae (Smith) Roberts. He married Marjorie Shelton in 1948 and she preceded him in death in 1956. He later married Norma J. Johnson in 1957 and she survives.
He had worked as an assembler for RCA, at NWSC Crane and as a custodian at Eastern School. He has been disabled since 1977.
He was a member of the Bedford Seventh Day Adventist Church and a follower of Jesus Christ. He enjoyed basketball and history.
Survivors include his wife, Norma of Springville; children, Stephen R. Roberts and wife Liz of Tucson, Ariz., Michael A. Roberts and wife Linda of Springville, Donald L. Roberts and wife Judi of Solsberry, Danny J. Roberts and wife Kim of Springville, Frank C. Roberts Jr. and wife Kim of Bloomfield, and Wayne D. Roberts of Springville; 18 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Herb Roberts of Mitchell.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife; a daughter, Dixie J. Roberts Elkins; brothers, Paul, John, Opal and Everett; and a sister, Nellie Roberts.

George David Barlow, 75, of Oolitic, died at 3:50 a.m. on Tuesday at Monroe Hospital in Bloomington.
Born Feb. 2, 1939, in Bedford, he was the son of Labon and Gladys (Terrell) Barlow. He retired from the City of Bedford but was well-known as a school bus driver and worker at Bedford North Lawrence High School.
He was a faithful follower of the Lady Stars and a member of the New Hope Church on U.S. 50 East in Bedford.
Anyone who knew George knew he loved his family and is survived by his wife, Phyllis; eight daughters, Teresa (Hall) and Mike Kellams, Cheryl (Barlow) and Dean LaClair, Cindy (Barlow) and Lloyd Wade, Sherrie (Hall) and Greg Fee, Christy (Barlow) and Tony Wininger, Tammy (Hall) and Rodney Mann, Cammie (Barlow) Tucker, Jenny (Hall) and Mike Hopper; 22 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Ruth Esther (Barlow) Melvin.

Nettie Ann (Burke) Steck born July 1, 1936, in Chicago, Ill., to Earle and Josephine (DiPasquale) Burke, passed away on June 30, 2014, to be with her Lord and Savior.
Preceding her in death was Howard A. Steck, the love of her life and her husband of almost 60 years; her parents, Earle and Josephine Burke of Chicago, Ill., along with many dear family members and beloved friends.
Nettie had five children, Cheryl Bobbs and husband Tom of Bedford, and their children, Kayla, Robert, TJ, Keeley and Zane; Howard Steck Jr. and wife Cindy of Rolling Meadows, Ill., and their children, Brian, Kenny and Kevin; Robert Steck and wife Karen of Edwardsville, Ill., and their children, Rachel and Anthony; Karen Sue Mead and husband Jeff of Belvidere, Ill., and their children, Samantha, Jacquelyn and Stephen; and David Steck and wife Nancy, of Tampa, Fla., and their children Andrew, Will and Sam. Nettie’s surviving siblings are, Anna (Ed) Hermes of New Lenox, Ill.; Barb (Tom) Pavlick of Burbank, Ill.; Rosemarie (Louie) Adams of Mesa, Ariz.; Earle (Kathy) Burke Jr. of Frankfort, Ill.; and Rosetta (Dick) Miciek of Lockport, Ill.; along with numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Nettie loved her family and loved life but most of all, loved her husband Howard, who preceded her in death on Feb. 12, 2014.
Nettie survived a massive stroke that she fell victim to in June 2009. Howard stayed by her side and took care of her even when his own health started to fail. He wouldn’t have it any other way. Nettie lost her zest for life when Howard passed. Her world was not the same without him.
Nettie was cremated by Costin’s Funeral Chapel in Martinsville, the same as Howard. They will be buried together in Abraham Lincoln National Veteran’s Cemetery in Elwood, Ill. in the very near future. Arrangements are pending. A memorial service is being considered and if possible, will be held at Free Methodist Church of Bedford.

Twinkle Dawn Cummings, 63, of Bedford passed away on June 29 at her residence.
She was born in Bedford on June 14, 1951, to William Franklin Brown and Betty June (Nicholson) Bowden. She was a graduate of Bedford High School in 1969.
Twinkle was a kind and loving mother that devoted her love towards her daughter and granddaughters. She lived life to its fullest and always saw the good in people, going out of her way to help those in need. She will be sadly missed by her family.
Survivors include one daughter, Melinda Dawn (Cummings) Armstrong and husband Mark of Shoals; her mother, Betty June Bowden; and father, William Franklin Brown; two granddaughters, Delani and Sari Armstrong of Shoals; sisters, Diana L. Clark and husband David and Trenace Delmeda Orender and husband Bernie; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her stepfather; Ralph Bowden.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 1-5 p.m. on Sunday at Thornton Park Shelter House, anyone who would like to share memories and love for her is welcome to attend.

Dolores J. Allen, 79, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday evening.
Dolores was the daughter of Guy Nolen Proffitt and Venita Mae (Holden) Mosier and L. Wayne Mosier. She married Donald W. Allen on Dec. 15, 1957.
She was born in Terre Haute, and attended the Terre Haute schools. Dolores graduated from Wiley High School, Class of 1953.
Dolores worked at American Security as her first job in Lawrence County; was a homemaker while her children were young; in retail sales with J.C. Penney; library assistant with North Lawrence Community Schools; and for many years with Dr. Michael Meyer and Dr. Mark Hall, as an office assistant.
She was a member of Englewood Baptist Church. Dolores volunteered at St. Vincent Dunn with the Pink Ladies Auxiliary, BNL band parents for many years, PTO groups, and served on the first board for the Girls Club.
Surviving are four daughters, Virginia (Jimmie) Atkins of Newberry, S.C., Elizabeth (Rick) Butterfield of Bedford, Barbara (Gary) Mills of Arlington, Texas and Patricia (Todd) Stephens of Evansville; eight grandchildren, Natalie (Brian) Coleman, Michele (Chris) Clark, Jennifer (Chris) Thomas, Nicholas Butterfield, Nicole (Josh) Pirog, Brittany Welling, Grant Stephens and Brynne Stephens; three great-grandchildren, Karsyn Coleman, Madison Clark and Cameron Clark; one sister, Norma Smith; and two nieces, Cindy Severance and Toni Smith.

She retired from G.E.in Bloomington.
Anna was a member of the Popcorn Christian Church.
She loved getting together with family; she enjoyed reading and gospel and bluegrass music.

Born Jan. 18, 1938 in Owensburg, he was the son of Max and Edith (Hayes) Fields.
He retired from General Motors.
Survivors include two sons, Doug Fields of Owensburg and Dean Fields and wife Reagan of Ellettsville; two grandchildren, Andy and Cassie Fields both of Ellettsville; and two brothers, Donald and Denny Fields.

Dorothy Margaret Kaufmann, 94, (nee Strehlow), passed away peacefully on June 27, 2014, at the age of 94.
She was preceded in death by her husband Jack. She was the mother of Kathryn (Robert) Blakesley, of Mequon, WI; Susan (Louis) Smith of Coronado, CA; Virginia (John) Peterson of Moses Lake, WA; and Janet (Michael) Halla of Bedford, IN. She was the grandmother of Brian (Lisa) and Michael (Holly) Smith; and Thomas (Mary), Daniel and David Halla. She was the great-grandmother of George, Ann, Mira, Jonah, Lilliane, Moses and Nathan. She was also preceded in death by siblings Viola (Cyril) Sindorf and Donald (Lois) Strehlow.
Born February 7, 1920, Dorothy was the daughter of the late Frank and Margaret Strehlow. She was a tomboy who married the boy next door in 1944. Struck by polio in 1952, she fought back in order to care for four young daughters. She became a valued member of the local PTA and an excellent secretary. She enjoyed travel, reading, puzzles and handcrafts, continuing to crochet into her 90s. She retired with her husband to Bloomington, Indiana, returning to Wisconsin after his death. Throughout her life, she maintained a strong faith in the power of guardian angels.
The family extends a special thanks to the staff of Lasata Care Center for their compassionate care. She was entombed alongside husband at the Valhalla Memory Gardens Mausoleum in Bloomington, IN. A private memorial service has been held.

Born July 27, 1988, in Lawrence Co., he was the son of Christopher L. and Angie (Jackson) Mannix. He was a machine operator at Samco. He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and attended the Free Methodist Church. He loved fishing, going to the creek side, jamming with his friends to the beat of the drums and strumming his Yamaha guitar. He loved his dogs, Roadie and Miller and most of all, he loved life, family and friends. He would steal your heart with that radiant smile. It would light up the room. He was a very compassionate and caring young man. He loved and laughed big.
Survivors include his girlfriend, Tiffany McCarty of Bedford; his life-long friend, Troi Dawn Barksdale of Bedford; his mother, Angie, of Bedford; his father, Chris Mannix and wife, Cheri of Bedford; a brother, Clayton Arnold of Bedford; his maternal grandfather, Patrick Jackson and wife, Margie, of Clarksville; his paternal grandmothers, Elaine Owens of Florida and Elizabeth Hickerson of Bedford; aunts and uncles, Teri Patrick and husband, Franklin of Saudi Arabia, Todd Mannix, B.J. Mannix and wife, Jennifer all of Florida, Kelly Spivey of Indianapolis, Deanna Rollins, Frank Rogowski and Pam Jackson all of Bedford, Danny Jackson and Carrie Chastain of Oolitic, Tricia Staggs and husband, Dannie, of Bedford; cousins, Kirsten Brown, Evan Patrick, Ashley Mannix, Cody Mannix, Kenna Spivey, Benjamin Brown, Ava Brown, April Rollins, Carmen Stewart, Jake Jackson, Sara Jackson, Haley Chastain, Logan Chastain, Portia Snoddy, Daniel Staggs, Marc Staggs, Keilan, Kestin and Justice McVicker. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfathers, Lynn “Buddy” Mannix and Doug Hickerson; his maternal grandmother, Peggy “Granny Peg” Jackson.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Sunday, July 6 in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Father Rick Eldred officiating. Burial will follow in the Mitchell Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Saturday, July 5 at the Day & Carter Mortuary. Pallbearers are Danny Jackson, Evan Patrick, Franklin Patrick, B.J. Mannix, Todd Mannix and Dannie Staggs. Honorary pallbearers are Mike Rollins, Frank Rogowski, Charlie Murphy, Chris Fleenor, Chase Neeley and Clayton Arnold. Members of an honorary motorcycle escort will be Mike Miller, Tim Butcher, Terry Stevens, Richard Hagemier and Jesse Bubba Gilliland. Terry Allen Colglazier, 67, of Clinton, North Carolina., passed away June 29, 2014, at Rex Hospital, Raleigh, North Carolina.
Terry was born Jan. 6, 1947, to Francille and Warren Colglazier of Mitchell, Indiana. He married Martha Jean Matthis, of Clinton, North Carolina. Terry lost his battle with cancer.
Terry is survived by his wife, Jean; a daughter, Kelly Zellman (Howard) of Burbank, Calif.; a son, Terry Allen Colglazier II (Blair) of Clinton, North Carolina. Also two grandchildren, Lily Grace Zellman and Matthis Dean Colglazier. He is also survived by four siblings, sisters Marietta Swaim of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Myra Colglazier of Bedford, Indiana, Anita Colglazier of Winston-Salem, North Carolina and brother Mark Colglazier of Mitchell, Indiana.
Terry graduated from Mitchell High School and Purdue University. Terry was a member of the Huron Baptist Church, Huron, Indiana, and Mitchell Masonic Lodge 228. He had been very active in Lawrence County 4-H programs.
Terry taught the GI agriculture classes and managed Big Blue Farm Stores. Up until his death he was employed with Crumpler Plastic Pipe in Roseboro, North Carolina.

Earl McCollum

Earl McCollum, age 86, of Aurora, Nebraska, passed away on Saturday, June 28, 2014, at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island, Nebraska. His funeral was on Monday, June 30, 2014, in the Aurora Cemetery with Pastor Bruce Bradley officiating. Earl McCollum was born on April 18, 1928, in St. Charles, Iowa. He grew up in Aurora and graduated form Aurora High School in 1946. He attended the University of Nebraska from 1946 to 1948 before moving to Chicago to work at Marshall Field & Company.
On May 4, 1957, he married Mary Ruth Terry from Silverville, Indiana. In 1972, they moved back to Bedford, Indiana to work for Bedford Medical Center. Shortly thereafter they moved to Sebastian, Florida where they raised their three children, Nathan, Neal and Nelson McCollum while being employed in Vero Beach, Florida.
Earl was a music director for over 30 years, serving nine different churches in Illinois, Indiana, Florida and Nebraska. He also directed the Illinois Central Railroad Choir for two years while in Chicago. Earl liked watching Cornhusker football and listening to gospel music. He was preceded in death by Mary Ruth McCollum on October 16, 1993.
He is survived by his three sons, Nathan McCollum of Sebastian, Florida; Dr. Neal McCollum of Villa Rica, Georgia, and Nelson (Shawn) McCollum of Heltonville, Indiana; three grandchildren, Joshua, Clayton and Carson McCollum, and one brother, Morris McCollum of Tacoma, Washington.

Guo Zhang, 83, according to Chinese custom, of Bedford, died at 1:45 a.m. on Sunday at Garden Villa in Bedford.
Born Oct. 2, 1932, in Guang Dong, China, he was the son of Zhuo Quan Zhang and Gui Qing Zhou. He married Zhao Ning Liu.
He immigrated to the U.S. in November 1993. In November 1994, he opened Empress Court Restaurant with his daughter, Sarah.
Survivors include his wife, Zhao Ning Liu; a son, David Zhang and wife Cindy; a daughter, Sarah Wong; a son, Gary Zhang and wife Toni; six grandchildren, Elizabeth and Emily Zhang, Ashley and Alex Wong, and Jacky and Jalyn Zhang.
Visitation will be from 2-6 p.m. on Thursday at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
Cremation will follow with a memorial service at a later date.

Carol Jean Fish, 91, of Bedford, passed away Sunday at Westview Manor, Bedford.
She was born Dec. 22, 1922, to Harry and Inez (Kimbrel) Campbell.
She was a graduate of Bedford High School with the Class of 1940.
She married John W. “Bill” Fish on March 14, 1970. He passed Jan. 2, 1994. She was also preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Roland Baker, in 1967; sisters, Harriet Rowe and Mary Frances Reath; niece, Jackie Leaf; stepdaughters, Bonnie Stotts, Anne Harrell and Sue Canada; stepgrandsons, in infancy Steven Brent Fish and Zayden Spaulding; great niece, Jennifer Leaf, in infancy; and her faithful canine companion of 12 years, Mandy.
Surviving are stepsons, John Fish and wife Carol of Bedford, and Willam D. “Bill” Fish and wife Jamie of Flat Rock, N.C.; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was a member of the American Federation of Government Employees; American Legion Auxiliary; Bedford Boat and Sportsman’s Club Auxiliary; Elks Auxiliary; First Christian Church of Bedford; and had attended First Wesleyan Church of Bedford.
She had worked at USNAD Crane, Dunn Hospital, North Lawrence Schools, and later for Nielsen Ratings, and as a greeter at the Bedford Wal-Mart.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday and from 9-10 a.m. on Thursday at Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Carl Gilmore officiating. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, at her request, donations in her honor can be made to the White River Humane Society.
