Bonnie L. Hughes

Oct. 03, 1956 — Aug. 28, 2022

Bonnie L. Hughes, 65, of Lawrence County, IN passed away on August 28, 2022, at Mitchell Manor.

Born on October 3, 1956, she was the daughter of Horseshoe and Marie (Miller) Watson. She married Larry E. Hughes on January 6, 1974, and he passed on April 6, 2007.

Bonnie worked at Hospitality House as an aide and did housekeeping. She was of the Pentecostal faith. She loved country music, cooking, and spending time with her family.

Surviving to cherish Bonnie’s memory is her daughter, Mandy Jones; son, Justin (Lisa) Hughes; 13 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; two brothers, David Miller and Randy Lake; three sisters, Vera Glasgo, Karen Parker, and Rosella Sons; and several nieces and nephews.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Larry E. Hughes; one son, Larry D. Hughes; one daughter, Samantha Hughes; one grandchild, Kersti Pemberton; six siblings, Jane Sykes, Carolyn Harrison, Merle Hughes, Marvetta Baker, Donnie Watson, and Diana Hanners; and a son-in-law, Tony Jones.

Graveside service will be held on Thursday, September 1, 2022, at 1:00 PM at Patton Hill Cemetery with Clarence Brown officiating.

James Samuel McGinnis

Oct. 05, 1939 — Aug. 29, 2022

James Samuel McGinnis, 82, passed away Monday, August 29, 2022, at Meadow View Health and Rehabilitation in Salem.

Born October 5, 1939, in Debord, Kentucky, he was the son of James Isaac and Alifair (Cook) Crum. He was married to Diana Mariam Ann Harmon for over 50 years.

James was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Vietnam War. After he served his country for 24 and a half years, he was a special ed school bus driver. James was a member of the Denbigh American Legion Post 368 in Newport News, Virginia and VFW Post 9107. He had been a member of Deaf Missionary Church in Norfolk, where he served as a deacon. James enjoyed collecting coins and was an avid giver, always donating to charities.

Survivors include his children Amy (Billy) Slaten of Mitchell, Kathleen Maynard of Delaware, Ohio, and Amanda (Pieter) Blanksma of Leiden, Netherlands; grandchildren, Amanda Dines, Mark Slaten, John Slaten, Hannah Hamrick, Noah Maynard, and Olivia Blanksma; and siblings, Rufus McGinnis of Vancleave, Mississippi, Beulah Spencer of Columbus, Ohio, Georgeanna Tucker of Louisa, Kentucky, Nancy Moore of Louisa, Kentucky, and David McGinnis of Louisa, Kentucky.

His parents; wife; grandson, Daniel McGinnis; son-in-law, Jeff Maynard; and siblings, Lucille Wood, Corrine Holstein, Buford McGinnis, Claire Chambers, Sillar Marie Buffinton, Harry McGinnis, Lewis McGinnis, Virge McGinnis, Robert McGinnis, Doris McGinnis, and Meredith McGinnis, preceded him in death.

James’ arrangements are pending with Denbigh Chapel of Altmeyer Funeral Homes and Crematory in Newport News, Virginia. Burial will be in Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery.

Patricia Ann Clipp

June 16, 1946 — Aug. 30, 2022

Patricia Ann Clipp, 76, passed away Tuesday, August 30, 2022, at Baptist Health Floyd Hospital.

Patricia was born on June 16, 1946, in Lawrence County, Indiana to James and Agnes (Porter) White. Patricia married Ronald E. Clipp of Campbellsburg, Indiana on October 19, 1962.

Patricia was a member of the Lost River Missionary Baptist Church, and formerly, the Orleans First Baptist Church. Patricia, commonly called Pat or Aunt Patty, was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was known for her easy smile and generous nature.

She was very active in church, teaching Sunday school for many years, and most recently as a member of the Lost River Women’s Missionary Circle.

Patricia enjoyed working with children as a teacher’s aide for Orleans Elementary School. She also worked as a cashier at the grocery and dime stores in Orleans where she loved to visit with the customers.

Known as “Mom” to many OHS band students, Patty was a devoted member and tireless fundraiser for the Orleans High School Band Boosters. She was also a member of two homemaker clubs and loved to host and attend the Bunco club with her friends.

In addition to her husband, Ron, she is survived by her son Kevin (Heather) Clipp of Orleans, her daughter Kimberly (Louis) Getman of Mitchell, and her son Keith (Keri) Clipp of Waxahachie, TX; grandchildren, Amy, Kayla, Kyle, Keirsten, Sarah, Kathryn “KatieBeth”, and Kaleb; great-grandchildren, Hannah, Hobie, Hallie, Kalilah “Lily Ann”, Karter, and Kreed; siblings, Jim White, Barbara Blevins, Bob White, and Harold White; and a large extended family whom she adored.

Patricia was proceeded in death by her parents and her sister, Delores White Hoke.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm on Friday, September 2nd at Ochs-Tetrick Funeral Home, 187 East Jefferson Street, Orleans, Indiana. The funeral service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, September 3rd at the Lost River Missionary Baptist Church, 10938 W. Lost River Rd., Campbellsburg, Indiana. The service will be officiated by Reverend Wilbur Stone. Visitation will be held at the church after 9 am until the time of service. Burial to follow at Claysville Cemetery, Campbellsburg, Indiana.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lost River Missionary Baptist Church, Alzheimer’s Association, or the Orange County Humane Society.

Thomas Larry “Tom” Miller

Nov. 01, 1941 — Aug. 30, 2022

Thomas Larry “Tom” Miller,80 of Bedford passed away on Tuesday August 30, 2022 at 9:00 PM at Stonebridge Health Campus in Bedford.

Born on November 1, 1941, he was the first baby born in the new OB Ward of Dunn Hospital in Bedford, the son of Durward and Lois (Cahill) Miller. Tom married Nancy (Hulsman) Brassfield on August 2, 1989 and she survives.

Tom retired from Indiana Gas Company and Vectren Energy; he was an US Army veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Nancy Miller, three sons, Bradley Miller, Daniel Miller and Andrew (Kelly) Miller, two step-daughters, Melinda Evans and Allison Hill, grandchildren, Mia, Aiden, Vivianne, Jade, Logan, and Hayden, step-grandchildren, Jarrett Brown, Braydon Brown, Landon Hill, Adrienne Hill, Ben Hill, and Sam Hartnagel

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Carol Duncan, one daughter, Pamela Miller

Cremation was chosen with a celebration of life at a later date with burial in Green Hill Cemetery.

Loretta Jean Ryan

Loretta Jean Ryan, 88, of Oolitic, passed away at 4:06 am on Sunday, August 28, 2022, at I.U. Health in Bedford.

Born September 28, 1933, in Heltonville, she was the daughter of Theodore and Kathryn Lantz. She married Clifford Ryan and he preceded her in death. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include a daughter, Lora Schell, of Bloomington.

Paul Bransford Aldridge

Feb. 01, 1935 — Aug. 28, 2022

Paul Bransford Aldridge, 87, went to be with the Lord Sunday, August 28, 2022, at Westview Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.

Born February 1, 1935, in Hazard, Kentucky, he was the son of Bill and Lillian (Hickman) Aldridge. He married Betty Alice Wilder October 21, 1978 and she preceded him in death February 17, 2020.

Paul was self-employed as a contractor. He was a member of the Mitchell Masonic Lodge No. 228 F.&A.M. and The Bride of Christ Fellowship. Paul sang with The Singing Revelations for thirty-one years. He loved his bible and gospel music, and he was the best storyteller.

Surviving are his children, Bill (Joyce) Aldridge of Mitchell, Cheryl Flora of Louisville, Kentucky, Jim (Tracy) Flora of Mitchell, Jeff (Valerie) Flora of Seymour, Kathy (Mark) Shirley of Bandon, Oregon; sixteen grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

His wife; parents; infant son, Jeff Aldridge; siblings, Louise Yother Barrett, Vicki Hendrix, Shelby Jean Baker, and Ralph Aldridge; and his first wife, Marie Aldridge preceded him in death.

Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, September 2 in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center with Brother Jerry Allen officiating. Burial will be at Mitchell Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service Friday at the funeral home.

Kathryn Irene (Robbins) Johnson

Kathryn Irene (Robbins) Johnson, 84, passed away Saturday, August 27, 2022, at Westview Nursing and Rehab.

Born February 26, 1938, in Bedford, she was the daughter of Andrew and Violet (Smith) Robbins.

Kathryn retired from RCA and was graduated from Bedford High School. She was an avid reader, enjoyed doing puzzles, and playing video games.

Survivors include her children, Richard Dean Johnson of Williams, Randal Scott (Kimberly) Johnson of Williams, Teresa (Rudy Jones) Johnson of Shoals, and Robert Duane (Shelly) Johnson of Bedford; grandchildren, Latisha Johnson, Christopher Johnson, and Lukas Johnson; great grandchildren, Nevaeh Johnson and Caleb Magnus; and sister, Phylis England of Avoca.

Her parents; siblings Irvin Robbins, Barbara Robbins, and Kenny Robbins, Sr.; and the father of her children, Larry Johnson, preceded her in death.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 30, at Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center. Cremation will follow.

Tammy D. (Thrasher) Barrett

Jan. 22, 1968 — Aug. 24, 2022

Tammy D. (Thrasher) Barrett, 54, of Fayetteville, GA, went to her heavenly home at 9:15 pm on Wednesday, August 24, 2022, at Riverdale Nursing & Rehab. Center after an extended illness.

Born January 22, 1968, in Savannah, GA, she was the daughter of Marvin and Carol (Rodman) Thrasher. Tammy married David Barrett on September 3, 2005. She graduated in 1986 from Bedford North Lawrence High School where she was a member of the marching band, Color Guard, and Choir. She received a degree in Medical Billing from Indiana Business College in Indianapolis.

Tammy was baptized a Christian in 1981 and was a member of All Saints Anglican Church where she was a daughter of the Holy Cross and sang in the choir. She had a great love for her nephews, Lincoln and Callen. She also enjoyed making jewelry, traveling, singing and reading.

Tammy is survived by her husband, David; a step-son, Bryan (Stephanie) Barrett, of Hazel Green, AL; their children, Skylar, Austin, Alexander, and Ashton; sisters, Paula (Ritchie) Tirey, of Bedford, IN and Sarah Thrasher, of Indianapolis; a niece, Jencie (Casey) Brown, of Ellettsville, IN and their children, Lincoln and Callen; her mother-in-law, Jane Barrett and a brother-in-law, Doug Barrett , both of Anderson, IN.

She was preceded in death by her father, a sister, Tina (in infancy) and her father-in-law, Gene Barrett.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 am on Tuesday, August 30th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Father Don Hutchens officiating. Burial will follow in the Maplewood Cemetery in Anderson, IN.

Visitation will be from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Monday, August 29th and from 9:00 am until the hour of service on Tuesday, August 30th at the Day & Carter Mortuary. The family asks that friends consider memorial contributions be made to the White River Humane Society.

Marlene Boyer

Marlene Boyer, 89, of Bedford, died at 7:10 a.m. Saturday, August 27th at the Stonebridge Health Campus.

Born May 24, 1933 in Bedford, she was the daughter of Roland L. Mendenhall and Myrtle (Naugle) Mendenhall. She married Carl D. Boyer, Jr. on Feb. 15, 1952 and he preceded her in death on Nov. 18, 2010.

She worked in elementary schools for North Lawrence Community Schools, the Lawrence County Assessor’s office and for Ellison Abstract. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Bedford, Indiana.

Survivors include three sons, Scott Boyer and wife Bonnie, of Solsberry, Steve Boyer and wife Connie, of Shoals, and Brett Boyer and wife Susan, of Independence, KY; grandchildren, Jeffrey and wife Rachel, Bradley and fiance Lauren, Amber and husband Steven, Brian and wife Sara, Helen and husband Aaron, Emily, Anna, Jacob, Samantha, Savanna, Cassie and husband Jarod, Dana; great-grandchildren, Logan, Lucas, Zaylee, Raelyn, Havyn, Ryder, Nathan, Elianna, Micah, Maya, Brooklyn, Addison, and Mason; brother-in-law, Ned Boyer and wife Mary Nell, of Bedford.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Roland and Myrtle Mendenhall; husband, Carl D. Boyer, Jr.; sister, Ilene Hardman and husband Danny.

Richard L. Brown

Richard L. Brown, 81, of Bedford, passed away on Thursday, August 25, 2022, at the IU Health Bedford Hospital.

Born September 3, 1940, he was the son of Joseph “Leck” and Geneva (Miller) Brown. He married Sheila (Farrell) Brown on June 3, 1973, and she survives.

Richard attended Bedford High School, was a veteran and retired from Cummings Engine in Columbus. He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.

Surviving is his wife, Sheila; one son, Scott Hatfield of Bedford; one daughter, Johna (Keith) Jennings of Florida; one sister, Bonnie Ingle of Bedford; one granddaughter, Kyndal Jennings; two grandsons, Michael and Rhett Hatfield; and several nieces and nephews.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Michael Brown; and a brother, Ray Bassett.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, August 30th at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church with Father Jegan Peter and Deacon Dave Reising officiating. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Monday, August 29th, at the Ferguson-Lee Chapel of Thorne-George Family Funeral Homes in Bedford, IN. The Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 PM.

Max S. Harrison

Max S. Harrison age 68 of Bedford passed away on Wednesday August 24, 2022 at 12:25 pm at his home.

He was born in Bedford on March 14, 1954 to James S. Harrison and Dovie (Sowders) Harrison.

Max was a mechanic and graduate of Bedford High School Class of 1972.

Survivors include one sister, Norma Harrison of Bedford and one brother, Mark J. (Theresa) Harrison of Bedford, one niece, Kristen Bell of Martinsville and one nephew, Mark J. Harrison, Jr. of Bedford.

Max was preceded in death by his parents.

Bryon Scott Tumey, 57, of Bedford, passed away on Wednesday, August 24, 2022, at his residence.

Born December 9, 1964, in Lawrence Co., he was the son of John Tilford and Carolyn Mae (Pridemore) Tumey. He married Becky Deckard on April 27, 1985, and she survives.

He was a waste-water plant maintenance worker for the City of Bedford.

Survivors include his wife, Becky, of Bedford; his parents; a son, Jeremy Tumey and wife, Emily, of Bedford; three grandchildren, Gracie Riggs-Sollman, Carter Sollman, and Asher Tumey; a sister, Karen Butler and husband, Jerry, of Mitchell; nieces, Kalee and Kylee Butler; niece, Tiffany Deckard and husband, Donny; great niece and nephews, Alicia, Tyson, and Cory; his dog, Izzy.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother-in-law, Gene and Linda Deckard; a brother-in-law, Michael Joe Deckard; grandparents, Bob and Wilma Pridemore and John and Evelyn Tumey.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 am on Monday, August 29th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastor Roger Allen officiating. Burial will follow in the Spice Valley Baptist Church Cemetery. Mary Sue Crane, 85, of Bedford, passed away at 3:20 am on Tuesday, August 23, 2022, at Stonebridge Health Campus.

Born December 7, 1936, in Mitchell, she was the daughter of Arthur Alvin and Mary Ann (Donaldson) Mundy. She married Doyle Eugene Crane on August 15, 1954, and he preceded her in death on October 31, 2019.

She was a homemaker and member of the Fairview Community Church.

Survivors include two sons, Thomas Joe Crane and wife, Elizabeth, and Karl Gene Crane, all of Bedford; a daughter, Karen Sue Adams and husband, Jeff, of Columbus; six grandchildren, Noelle Elizabeth Caldwell, and husband, Logan, Jared Ray Crane, Michael Tyler Crane, and wife, Ashley, Stephen Jacob Dragon, and wife, Lacy, Maximilian Charles Dragon, and wife, Maria, Samual Harrison Dragon, and wife, Trisha; seven great-grandchildren, Lucas Crane, Olivia Crane, Cohan Dragon, Armondo Dragon, Nora Dragon, Gannon Dragon and Everitt Dragon; two sisters, Carol Crane, of Bedford and Shirley Chastain and husband, Roland, of Plainfield; a brother, Kenneth Mundy and wife, Goldie, of Columbus.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Doyle and a son, Bradley Ray Crane.

Linda Carol (Ashley) Combs

Linda Carol (Ashley) Combs, 64, of Bedford, passed away at 7:51 PM on August 23, 2022 at University of Louisville Hospital.

She was born February 5, 1958 in Salem, IN, the daughter of Ezra Carroll and Rose Ellen (Brewer) Ashley.

She was employed at French Lick Resort. She graduated from Orleans High School. She enjoyed spending time in her flower bed and with granddaughter.

She is survived by her companion, Timothy Noble of Bedford; two sons, Cory (Honey) and Cody Combs both of Bedford and one granddaughter, Harper Combs.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Jerry Ashley; one sister-in-law, Maxine Ashley.

The funeral will be at 11:00 AM on August 30, 2022 at the Ochs-Tetrick Funeral Home with Brother Aaron Poole officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Orleans.

Mary Alice Karr

Mary Alice Karr age 76 of Mitchell passed away at her home on Wednesday August 24, 2022.

She was born on March 7, 1946 in Salem to Isom Davis and Marie (Edwards) Davis. Mary Alice married Lee Karr on December 30, 1986 and he survives.

Mary Alice worked at the Telephone Company, RCA and General Motors in Bedford.

Survivors include her husband Lee Karr, two children, Lonnie Johnson and Lisa (Michael) Reynolds, six grandchildren, Joshua (Sara) Johnson, Kayla Ann Johnson, Cole (Cameryn) Reynolds, Ethan (Jacklyn) Reynolds, Haleigh (Brad) Albin and Teighan Johnson, seven great grandchildren, Elijah Johnson, Ada Johnson, Lilly Reynolds, Charlee Reynolds, Cleo Reynolds, Wyatt Reynolds, and Joshua Bookwalter.

She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Earl Carpenter, Beverly Davis and Herman Davis.

Funeral services will be held on Friday August 26, 2022 at 6:00 PM at Cresthaven Funeral Home, entombment will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Visitation will be on Friday August 26, 2022 from 4:00 PM until service time at 6:00 PM at the funeral home.

Scott Allen Elkins

Aug. 26, 1966 — Aug. 21, 2022

Scott Allen Elkins, 55, of Seymour, passed away on Sunday, August 21, 2022, at Schneck Medical Center in Seymour.

Born August 26, 1966, in Bedford, he was the son of Mary Ann (Pilgram) Arthur and the late Charles Austin Elkins. He married Rhonda Poer on May 2, 1998, at the Scipio United Methodist Church in Scipio; she survives.

Scott was a 1984 graduate of Bedford North Lawrence High School in Bedford and attended Ivy Tech Community College for Respiratory Therapy. He worked as a respiratory therapist for Schneck Medical Center in Seymour for 15 years and had also worked for Riley Hospital for Children and Wishard Hospital, both in Indianapolis. Scott was a member of Six Mile Masonic Lodge #412 and Hayden Chapter #253 Order of the Eastern Star, both in Hayden. He enjoyed reading, watching movies and fishing.

Surviving with his wife, Rhonda, are his daughters, Courtney (Elliott Hughel) Elkins of Columbus and Rebekah Elkins of Seymour; mother, Mary Ann (Richard) Arthur of Spencer; sister, Connie (Greg) Dalton of Mitchell; and nieces, Sarah and Emily Dalton, both of Mitchell.

He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Austin Elkins.

A funeral service for Scott will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. August 26, 2022, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, August 25, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Friday. Masonic Memorial Service will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday by members of Six Mile Masonic Lodge #412. Burial will be in the Vernon Cemetery in Vernon.

Vernetta Kay Hillenburg

Vernetta Kay Hillenburg age 83 of Heltonville passed away on Tuesday August 23, 2022 at 10:25 AM at her home.

She was born in Lawrence County on January 2, 1939 to Everett Murphy and Lena (Blackwell) Murphy. She married Morris D. Hillenburg on July 1, 1956 and he survives.

Vernetta worked at RCA-Thomson Consumer Electronics in Bloomington and was a member of the Burgoon Baptist Church. She loved gardening, flowers and her family.

Survivors include her husband, Morris D. Donna “Kay” (Horn) Lewis, 82, of Springville, passed away at 12:20 pm on Monday, August 22, 2022, at Bell Trace in Bloomington.

Born February 5, 1940, in Koleen, IN, she was the daughter of Doren and Anna (Ashcraft) Horn. She married Jerry W. Lewis on June 21, 1957, and he preceded her in death on May 17, 2021.

She was a homemaker and member of the Oolitic Baptist Church. She loved to travel and was involved with the Happy Travelers. She had many friends and enjoyed spending time with them and loved playing games. Her family was the most important thing in her life. She supported Jerry and assisted with anything needed for his baseball and basketball leagues.

Survivors include two sons, Jim Lewis and wife, Debbie, of Avoca, and Mike Lewis, of Oolitic; five grandchildren, Sarah Folmer, and husband, William, Tyler Wayne Lewis and wife, Kayla, all of Oolitic, Allen Lewis, of Avoca, Kaleigh Lewis, and Owen Lewis, both of Oolitic; great-grandchildren, Jamey, Molly and Lilly Folmer, Evan and Reed Lewis, , and baby boy Lewis expected in September; several nieces and nephews; a brother, Willis Horn and wife, Rhelda, of Brownsburg; a sister, Lana Buskirk and husband, Bill, of Solsberry.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and brothers, Ray, Edwin and Marvin Horn.

Dallas Wayne Lee, 92, of Judah, went home to be with the Lord at 7:35 pm, on Sunday, August 21, 2022, at his residence.

Born February 11, 1930, he was the son of Floyd Lee and Fatima Jones. He married Ruby Marie Robbins on August 2, 1948, and was devoted to her until she preceded him in death on February 8, 2017.

He owned coin-operated laundries in Bedford and Bloomington as well as an appliance repair service. Later, he was in charge of maintenance for the Bedford U.S. Postal Service. He was highly skilled in mechanical and electrical systems and could fix anything. He was a long-time member of the Hilltop Pentecostal Church and in later years, attended the Oolitic Pentecostal Church. He was active in Ham Radio using the call sign, KB9VZ. He loved his family and grand-dog Snickers.

Survivors include three children, Dana Lee and wife, Dee Robertson-Lee, of Fleming Island, FL, Kay Lee, of Judah, and Jan Lee and wife, Janice Bowles-Lee, of Bedford; grandchildren, Nathan Andrew Lee (Laurie Deanne), of Atlantic Beach, FL and Justin Michael Lee of Jacksonville, FL; two great-grandchildren, Faeryn Isabelle Lee and Simany Alice Lee, both of Atlantic Beach, FL; several nieces and nephews; devoted caregiver Kim Bartlett.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a brother, Richard Dale Lee; a sister, Vivian Fern Taylor; and his step-mother Hazel Lee.

Born January 2, 1946, in Indianapolis, he was the son of James Albert and Nannie Pearl (Rainey) Lee. He married Jami Martin on December 12, 2012, and she survives.

He was a truck driver for Stone Belt Freight in Bloomington for 20 years. He was a member of the Church of Christ, Eagles Lodge #654, and the Moose Lodge in Bedford and Bloomington.

Survivors include his wife, Jami, of Bedford; children, Janeen Gardner and husband, Jay, of Memphis, TN, Mickey Lee and wife, Cindy, of CA, J.D. Lee and wife, Shanna McFarland, of AZ; two grandchildren, Damon Lee and Jericho Gardner; several nieces and nephews; a sister, Carolyn Sue Bough, of Springville; a half-sister, Melissa McCoin (Timmy), of Solsberry.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Loretta (Dishman) Lee; a half-brother, Bobby Lee.

Born March 5, 1934 in Lawrence County, she was the daughter of Charles (Dad) & Martha (Mom) Miller. She married Russell Paul Roberts on July 15, 1950 and he preceded her in death on Father’s Day, June 18, 2017.

She was a homemaker, loved her children and family and her many cat fur babies. She was of Pentecostal faith.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles & Martha Miller, her siblings, William (Bill) Miller, Hobert Miller, Charles (Pooch) Miller, Home Dale Miller, Dean Miller, Rose Cooney, Lois Walters and son-in-law Mike Chapman.

Ellen Patten Townsend was born to Leonard and Alice (Huggins) Patten in Bedford Indiana in 1947. She graduated from Bedford High School in 1965. She lived her entire adult life in Bloomington.

In the 1980s she worked as a veterinary assistant at Eastside Animal Hospital and then Combs Veterinary Clinic before returning to IU to finish a degree in Education specializing in computers, reading, and English. She worked at the Indiana University Student Academic Center and then at MCCSC as a long-term substitute and reading aide. She volunteered in schools, 4h clubs, and was Hoosier Youth philharmonic Booster President for two years.

She loved dogs, cats, and horses, traveling with her daughter, art, and books.

Ellen is survived by daughter Sarah Townsend of Bloomington, son Aaron Sparks of Terre Haute, brother Butch (Cathy) Patten of Bedford, several nieces and nephews, and Lola the Welsh Terrier.

She was proceeded in death by her parents, sister Melody Raines and by two husbands Daniel Sparks (1971) and Fred Townsend (2013).

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 27, 2022, at Allen Funeral Home and Crematory, 4155 South Old State Road 37, Bloomington. Family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.

Judy Kay Hostetler, 76, of Boelus, NE died on August 11, 2022, at CHI Health St. Francis in Grand Island.

Judy was born on October 24, 1945, in Bedford, IN to Ermal and Mildred (Nicholson) Mitchell. She grew up in Bedford, IN and received her education from Fayetteville High School before going to the Indianapolis Methodist School of Nursing.

She was united in marriage to Arlan Hostetler on September 10, 1967, in Fayetteville, IN. After which the couple lived in Cairo, NE before moving to the farm near Boelus, NE in 1975. She was employed by St. Francis Hospital for over 30 years. She dedicated her entire professional career to nursing.

She was a member of the Wood River Mennonite Church and Gideons International Auxiliary. She enjoyed gardening, quilting, cooking and her family.

She is survived by her husband, Arlan “Arch” Hostetler; sons, David (Lori) Hostetler of Carrollton, TX, Michael (Gina) Hostetler of Papillion, NE; and two grandchildren Leah and Tyler Hostetler.

Ossie “Osa” (Morgan) Misuraca, 92, of Bloomington, formerly of Bedford, passed away at 12:15 am on Tuesday, August 16, 2022, at I.U. Health Hospice House.

Born April 25, 1930, in Hazard, KY, she was the daughter of Rutherford Benjamin “R.B.” and Seattle (Hensley) Morgan. She married Victor Misuraca in 1982 and he preceded her in death. She retired as a waitress and cashier from the Morning Call Coffee Stand in New Orleans. She attended the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and volunteered in the St. Vincent Thrift Shop. She made friends anywhere she went. She loved dogs, gambling, playing cards, race horses, and fishing.

Surviving is a nephew, Joe Morgan (Becky), of South Carolina; a niece, Cathy Harlow (Patrick), of Bedford; three cousins, Lois Craig, Debby Branigan, and Michael McDaniel, all of Ohio.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a brother, Emery Morgan and a sister, China Elizabeth Morgan.

He was born in Bedford on August 3, 1956 to Wayne Keith and Phyllis (George) Keith.

Randy was a graduate of Bedford High School and belonged to the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses. Randy worked as Inside Salesman at Bender Lumber Company in Bedford for many years.

Survivors include his father, Wayne Keith of Mitchell, one sister, Kelly (Michel) Spencer of Bedford, aunts, Delores “Dottie” Zonakis of Fort Wayne, Debbie (Ken) Seery of Tucson, Arizona, Penny (Sam) Rhoda of Bedford, Patty McClintock of Bedford, uncle, Larry (Mary) George of Southaven, Mississippi. Several cousins survive.

Born June 28, 1941 in Bedford, he was the son to the late Robert Sr. and Minnie (Shirley) Root. He married Shirley Anne Cox on August 13, 1997 and she preceded him in death on May 27, 2008.

Preceded in death by his siblings, Roberta Kerr, Mildred Fields and Kenneth Root.

Survivors include two daughters, Carol Mann and Katrina Lindsey; 2 grandchildren, Brandi Waters (and husband, Marshall) and Aaron Lindsey (and wife, Jessie); 2 great grandchildren; one sister, Evelyn McGregor; along with many nieces (including the very special Bobbette Root) and nephews.

Richard Hutton, Sr., of Bedford, passed away at 7:15 am on Thursday, August 11, 2022, at Stonebridge Health Campus.

Born February 22, 1932, in Bedford, he was the son of Herschel Hutton, Sr. and Mary Nina (Isom) Oexmann. He married Velva L. Hutton on July 16, 1949, and she preceded him in death on July 5, 2022.

He retired as a millwright from General Motors in 1987. A train enthusiast, he owned the Choo Choo Station for many years. He was a member of the Bedford Masonic Lodge #14 F & AM. He enjoyed spending time with the grandkids and traveling with his wife, especially out west.

Survivors include children, Peggy (Greg) Scherschel, of Columbus, Rick (Sally) Hutton, of Springville, Tony (Susan) Hutton, of Bedford; grandchildren, Dana (Todd) Anderson, Gretchen (Matt) Seibert, Joshua (Carrie) Scherschel, Joe (Sandra) Scherschel, Kyle Hutton, Kory Hutton, Kolby (Britni) Hutton, Christopher Hutton, Jennifer (Brett) Dillman, and Megan Hutton; 12 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was a graduate of Shawswick High School with the class of 1970 and a mechanic and co-owner of Cotton’s Auto Service in Bedford. He was an avid bowler and participated on several leagues.

Born July 30, 1933, in Mitchell, she was the daughter of Earl Franklin and Margaret “Maggie” Jewell (Beasley) Tirey. June married Robert Lee Briscoe July 23, 1952 and he survives.

June was a 1951 graduate of Mitchell High School and grew up in Spice Valley Baptist Church. She worked in banking at several different banks over the course of her career. June was a fifty year member of Kappa Delta Pi Sorority.

Surviving are her husband, Robert Lee Briscoe of Bloomington; daughter, Judy Ann Briscoe of Bloomington; granddaughter, Elizabeth Briscoe; and several nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.

Her parents; son, Dennis Lee Briscoe; siblings, Rosella Jewell Harris and Jerry Franklin Tirey; and son-in-law, Carroll Bryce preceded her in death.

Seanna Gonzales, 27, of Bedford, passed away on Saturday, August 6, 2022.

Born on December 19, 1994, she was the daughter of Domingo Gonzales and Sylvia Suette Crane.

Seanna loved spending time with her children and loved making people laugh.

Seanna is survived by her two children, Lennox Terrell, and Lasiah Terrell; her father, Domingo; two sisters Selena Gonzales and Maria Orozco; her companion, Ricky Terrell; and her partner, Manuel Zepeda. She was a loving aunt to Alida Suette-Lynn Gillard, Karson Terrell, Karter Terrell, and Maylee Terrell.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Sylvia Suette Crane; and her grandmother, Constance “Connie” Crane.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, August 15, 2022, at the Ferguson-Lee Chapel of Thorne-George Family Funeral Homes in Bedford with Clarence Brown officiating. Burial will follow at the Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM to the service hour on Monday.

Lillian Maxine (Hubbard) Henderson, 97, of Bedford, passed away on August 9, 2022.

Born December 16, 1924, in Lawrence County, she was the daughter of George Otto and Jennie (Brim) Hubbard. She married Loren Henderson and he preceded her in death.

She was a graduate of Oolitic High School with the class of 1942. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include her children, William (Ann) Henderson, Steve Henderson, James Henderson, and Linda Henderson; grandchildren, Jaima (John) McCabe, Jacque Louden, Tim (Lara Beck) Henderson, Holly (Mike) Roessler, Amanda Henderson, Joe (Kelsey) Henderson, and Rob Henderson; seven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son, Steve Henderson; siblings, Marie (Roy) Turpen, Mildred Weddle, William (Jewell) Hubbard, George (Betty) Hubbard, Wayne Hubbard, Cleda (Javy) Prow, and Wendell Ross and Cletus (both in early childhood).

Norma Donica, 84, of Bedford, passed away on Tuesday, August 9, 2022, at her residence.

Born on November 30, 1937, she was the daughter of Virgil Mikels and Ruby (Taylor) Mikels. She married Albert Eugene Donica in 1954 and he passed on December 15, 2021.

Norma cleaned houses and took care of her family. She was a member of the Donica Church of God and enjoyed cooking, sewing, and spending time with her family.

Surviving to cherish the memory of Norma are her five sons, Allen (Terri) Donica, Fred Donica, Rick (Sheila) Donica, Jim (Teressa) Donica, and Mike Donica; daughter, Debby Donica; nine grandchildren; four great grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding Norma in death are her parents; husband, Albert; one brother, Kenny Mikels; and her daughter-in-law, Dian Donica.

Cremation was chosen with a celebration of life at a later date.

Nancy Bernice (Terrell) Ball, 99, passed away Sunday, August 7, 2022 at Westview Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.

Born July 16, 1923, in Huron, she was the daughter of Walter and Ella (Robbins) Terrell. Bernice married Clifford Laverne Ball November 18, 1961 and he preceded her in death March 17, 1993.

Bernice retired from Delci Home Fashions. She was a member of Huron Church of God. Bernice loved visiting with family, mushroom hunting, and cutting wood. She also loved her little house dogs.

Survivors include her nieces, Alice Marie Hart of Bedford, Marsha Ann (Ronnie) Roberts of Bedford, and Barbara Terrell of Pekin; special friends, Frank and Brenda Dumond of Mitchell; and several great nieces and nephews.

Her husband; parents; brothers, Wilbern Harrison Terrell and Edward Earl Terrell; nephews, John Walter Terrell and Wilbern Eugene Terrell; and niece, Camilla Rose Terrell, preceded her in death.

Funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 10, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center. Burial will be at Huron Cemetery.

Kathy G. Bell age 61 of Bedford passed away on Monday August 8, 2022 at 2:15 Am at the IU Hospice House in Bloomington.

She was born in Bedford on October 16, 1960 to James G. Pruett and Wanda (Jones) LuAllen.

Kathy was the General manager of Papa’s Bar and Grill in Bedford for many years.

She is survived by her mother, Wanda LuAllen of Bedford, two children, Brandon W. Lee of Bedford and Jessica Lee of Bloomington, three grandchildren, Emilee (Jonathan) Fleetwood of Bedford and their daughter, Lenny Fleetwood, Richard Amburgey, Jr. of Bedford and Blake Luttrell of Bedford, one sister, Janet Hanners of Bedford, two brothers, Mark Pruett of Bedford and Warren Wagnon of Speedway, several aunts, uncles and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her father.

Funeral services will be on Thursday August 11, 2022 at 5:00 Pm with Brother Lyman Taylor, officiating, cremation will follow. Visitation will be on Thursday from 3:00 PM until service time at 5:00 PM at the funeral home.

Frank L. Braman, Jr.

Frank L. Braman, Jr., 91, passed away Sunday, August 7, 2022, at Indiana University Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.

Born April 13, 1931, in Salem, he was the son of Frank Lewis and Frances Irene (Turner) Braman, Sr. He married Jane Mathews May 28, 1961.

Frank graduated from Mitchell High School in 1948 and Franklin College in 1952. He was vice president of the Bank of Mitchell, served on the board of directors, and was owner of Braman Realty.

Frank was Lawrence County Treasurer from 1965-1972, and had served on the Dunn Memorial Hospital Board. He was a member and past master of Mitchell Masonic Lodge No. 228 F.&A.M., and also a member of the Murat Shrine and Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis. Frank was a member of Jacob Finger United Methodist Church and for several years served as treasurer.

From 1952-1956, Frank served in the U.S. Coast Guard and was a member and past commander of Cecil C. Martin American Legion Post No. 250.

Survivors include his wife, Jane Braman of Mitchell; sons, William Mathew (Amy) Braman of Seymour and Robert Lewis (Jamie Nicole) Braman of Greenwood; grandchildren, Ian David Braman, Meredith Frances Braman, Emma Grace Braman, and Margaret Marion Braman; and sister Carolyn (Richard) Riefe of Saginaw, Michigan.

His parents and brother, Jack Braman, preceded him in death.

Funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, August 12, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center with Pastor Eric Kersey officiating. Burial will be in Mitchell Cemetery with military honors accorded by American Legion Post No. 250.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service on Friday at the funeral home.

She was employed at Jay-C Foods in Bedford and was a BNL High School graduate class of 1987.

Born September 15, 1929, in Bedford, she was the daughter of John and Florence Mae (Easton) Curren.

Maxine was a 1949 graduate from Shawswick High School. She married William Scherschel on August 10, 1949, and he preceded her in death in 1996. Maxine was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

Survivors include seven children, Buddy (Kathie) Scherschel of Bedford, Dennis Scherschel of Highland, IL, Karon (Jamie) Werbin of Derby, KS, Sharon (Kenny) Shock of North Manchester, IN, Beth (Mike) Scherschel of Mitchell, Rose Scherschel, and Dianna (Bill) Duncan; twenty grandchildren; twenty- nine great-grandchildren; one brother, Robert (Mary) Curren of Converse, IN; and one sister-in-law, Susie Curren of Mitchell.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, six siblings, one son Anthony Scherschel, two granddaughters, one great grandson, and a daughter-in-law, Debi Scherschel(Dennis).

Lennie J. Dumond, 70, of Williams passed away on Friday, August 5, 2022, at IU Health Hospital in Bloomington.

Born on October 24, 1951, he was the son of Raymond and Mary Frances (Tolbert) Dumond.

Lennie worked at Mitchell Feed & Grain, was retired from the Indiana State Highway Department, and farmed. He was a graduate of Mitchell High School Class of 1970 and had attended the Church of Christ. He was on the Cemetery Board at Port Williams Cemetery.

After retiring, Lennie enjoyed getting in his truck and driving to check on the farm and cattle as well as talking with his friends and neighbors.

Surviving to cherish the memory of Lennie is his 4 sisters, Martha Jane Dumond, Mary Dumond, Patricia “Pat” Kidwell, and Susan Dumond; 3 brothers, Randy Dumond, Roger (Cheryl) DuMond and Steve (Beth) Dumond; 2 nephews, Alan DuMond and Jason Cooper; 2 nieces, Nichole (Scott) Schoettmer and Leslie Jackson; great nephew Paul Schoettmer; 2 great nieces, Clair and Kate Schoettmer; 1 aunt, Carolyn Sue Waggoner; and several cousins.

Born November 7, 1942, in Lawrence Co., she was the daughter of Robert and Lois (Strunk) Stannard. She married Kenneth D. Staggs on September 14, 1957, and he preceded her in death on February 11, 2016.

She was a homemaker and member of the Peerless Pentecostal Church. She loved attending church, sewing, and baking cakes.

Survivors include a daughter, Carmen Burnette and husband, Rusty, of Bedford; three sons, Gregory Staggs and wife, Teresa, of Bedford, Jeff Staggs and wife, Karen, of Springville, and Mike Staggs and wife, Mary, of Bedford; nineteen grandchildren; forty-three great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild on the way; a brother, Robert Stannard, Jr. and wife, Joyce, of Kentucky; four sisters, Faye Mitchell, of Bedford, Debbie Morron and husband, Phil, of Bedford, Pam Tirey and husband, Bob, of Oolitic, and April Robbins and husband, Gary, of Needmore.

Born December 4, 1954, in Oolitic, he was the son of Charles and Bernice (Holt) Beacher. He married Donna Lucille Hardman July 30, 1976 and she preceded him in death January 22, 2012.

Lambert was an Oolitic High School graduate and retired as a technician at NWSC Crane. He was a member of the National Rifle Association and loved riding his motorcycle, hunting, and fishing. He was worldly in his faith and enjoyed studying all religions.

Surviving are his children, Stormi Lynn (Jeremy) Reynolds of Poland, Indiana and Daniel Charles Beacher of Mitchell; and grandchildren, Mia Valentine Reynolds and Charles Seth Beacher.

His wife and parents preceded him in death.

Born August 2, 1976, in Carlsbad, New Mexico, she was the daughter of James Bruce and Beth (Hensley) Carrico. Beth married Daniel Purcell October 2, 2020.

Beth was a 1994 graduate of Bedford North Lawrence High School. She was a member of the Harvest Community Full Gospel Church. Beth managed the Owl’s Nest for twenty years and worked as a teller at Woodforest National Bank. She adored her family and loved being a wife.

Surviving are her husband, Daniel Purcell of Mitchell; children, Emily Sue (Cortney Grissom) Carrico of Bedford and Ann Marie (Keygan) Tipton of Bedford; grandson, Jaxson Key; siblings, Patricia Carrico of Bedford; Summer Carrico of Bloomington, and Rhett Carrico of Mitchell; and mother, Beth (Randy) Nicholson of Mitchell.

Her father preceded her in death.

She was the world’s greatest amateur crappie angler. She had a passion for her plants and flowers as well. Carolyn was a member of the Dive Christian Church of Bedford, Indiana.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Vivian Tedrow Graham Conrad & step-father, Jackie Conrad.

Carolyn is survived by her loving husband, Tim Hatfield (her handsome man). She is the daughter of Ray (Sandy) Graham of Salem, Indiana. Four children, Christina Courtney of New Salisbury, In; Robert (Mistie) Courtney of Mitchell, In; Erin (David) Brummett of Mitchell, In; Ashley Hatfield of Kokomo, In. Six grandchildren, two great grandchildren. Carolyn is also survived by six siblings; Vicki Graham Hinkson (David) Piedmont, SC., Mike Graham Salem, In., Marilyn Graham Long (Glen) Orleans, In., Connie Graham Strange (John) Louisville, Ky., Walter Graham (Doris) Salem, In., Stephanie Graham Coomer (Brian) Salem, In. and lots of nieces and nephews along with a very large extended family and friends. She had worked at Hook’s Drug Store, Sarkes-Tarzian Inc. and retired from NWSC Crane as an ordinance worker. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Williams.

Survivors include a daughter, Brenda Hedge (Robert), of Williams; a son, Doug Chastain (Patty), of Bedford; four grandchildren, Randy Inman, Jason Hedge, John Paul Chastain, and Jessica Chastain; seven great-grandchildren, Alison Rosson, Laken Inman, Jade Inman, Chesney Hedge, Trenten Inman, Jalyn Chastain, and John Wyatt Chastain; two great-great-grandchildren, Mason Axsom and Kinsley Rosson.

Tony Eugene Pemberton age 66 of Bedford passed away on Thursday August 4, 2022 at his home. Thankfully he will no longer be surrounded by the “Bio-Lizards” of dialysis.

He was born on December 7, 1955 to Robert and Bertha (Bunch) Pemberton. He married Kathie Lowery on June 26, 1976 and she preceded him in death on June 4, 2011.

Tony was also preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Robert in infancy and Terry, one sister, Marilyn “Bow”, as well as his son, Casey.

He is survived by two sons, Sky and Adam, eight grandchildren, Sabrina, Elijah, Dakota, Arya, Gabriel, Elora, Olivia and Camryn and two sisters, Bobbie and Frankie, also his grand dog, Last Lie Low, with whom he enjoyed barking at the neighbors.

Visitation will be held on Sunday August 7, 2022 from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Cresthaven Funeral Home, 3522 Dixie Hwy. in Bedford.

Paul Eugene Allen, 73, of Oolitic, passed away at 11:03 am on Wednesday, August 3, 2022, at Bliss Place in Bedford.

Born June 18, 1949, in Monroe Co., he was the son of Estil and Anna (Smoot) Allen.

He was an explosives handler at NWSC Crane. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and retired as a Master Sergeant from the Indiana National Guard.

Survivors include four children, Beth Justin (Jon), of Gosport, IN, Roy Dale Allen, of Oolitic, Robert Paul Allen (Ame), of Fayetteville, and Brooke Nicole Stroud, of NC; eight grandchildren, Jett Donald Manning, Clayton Isaac Allen, Connor Robert Allen, Bailee Amelia Allen, Daxton Gene Allen, Eryn BethAnn Allen, Emlyn Denise Barger, and Rosa Marie Barger; a sister, Lois Allen, of Ellettsville.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter-in-law, Karena Dawn Allen; two brothers, Tony Ray Allen and Phillip “Spook” Allen.

Jack A. Silvers, 71, of Bedford, passed away at 12:15 am on Sunday, July 31, 2022, at St. Francis Hospital in Greenwood, IN.

Born July 4, 1951, in Lawrence Co., he was the son of Frank Orville and Eva Catherine (Bell) Silvers. He married Marsha L. Horner on July 21, 1973, and she survives.

He was a stone breaker and quarry worker in Lawrence and Monroe Counties. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving with the 101st Airborne Division during the Vietnam War.

Survivors include his wife, Marsha, of Bedford; three sons, Timothy A. Silvers (Melissa), of Bloomington, Bradly D. Silvers (Lana), and Jeffrey A. Silvers (Danielle), all of Bedford; two grandchildren, Savannah Silvers and Chloe Ray; two sisters, Linda Burrows and Edna Padgett; a brother, Bill Silvers.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Harold Silvers; two sisters, Rose Kimmel and Elizabeth.

Wayne Kidd

July 28, 1955 — Aug. 01, 2022

Wayne Kidd of Bedford Indiana went home to be with the Lord peacefully at his residence on August 1st, 2022.

He was born in Wayne County Kentucky July 28th, 1955, to his loving parents Hulen D. Kidd and Myra Estelle (Morrow) Kidd Rush. His wife of 32 years, Tammy (Stone) Kidd, survives him.

He retired from the Lawrence County Highway Department after 22 years of service. He attended Crane Village Church.

Survivors include five sons, Tyler (Megan) of Bedford, Jordan (Nicole) of Orleans, Eric (Ally) of Bedford, Zachary Wayne (Becky) of Bedford, and Codie of Bedford, and seven grandchildren, Peyton, Kelsey, Abby, Kaylee, Isabella, Rachael, and Timothy Wayne. Siblings Tim Kidd, Linda K. Simpson, Carolyn Ice, Abby Eggers, and Melissa Phillips also survive.

Loving family members Hulen D Kidd, Sherman Phillips, Ed Phillips, and birth mother Lena Phillips have preceded him in death.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Tom Caraway

July 01, 1944 — Aug. 01, 2022

Tom Caraway, 78, of Bedford, passed away August 1, 2022, at ST. Vincent Dunn Hospital.

Born July 1, 1944, in Bedford, he was the son of Othel and Phyllis (Brown) Caraway. He married Dora Basinger on August 26, 1967, and she preceded him in death November 24, 2006.

Tom worked for Carpenter Body Works, Kings Automotive and was a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.

Tom is survived by two brothers, Greg (Beverly) Caraway and Vincent (Sue) Caraway; sister, Mary Swayze; along with several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at a later date and burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens.

Mary Lee Lux

Mary Lee Lux, 80, of Bedford, passed away at 3:36 pm on Monday, August 1, 2022, at I.U. Health Bloomington Hospital.

Born August 2, 1941, in Memphis, TN, she was the daughter of Clifford Gray Clark and Geneva Christine Taylor. She married Daniel Lux on May 17, 1974, and he survives.

She was a homemaker and member of the Hillside Church of Christ in Bloomington.

Survivors include her husband of 48 years, Daniel, of Bedford; a daughter, Rachel “Damaris” Barker and husband, William, of Valparaiso; two sons, Joshua “Daniel” Lux, of Bedford and Stephen “Andrew” Lux, of Evansville; a brother, James William Clark, of Tallahassee, FL; five nieces.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Barbara Anne Clark and a brother, John Clark.

Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Monday, August 8th at Clover Hill Cemetery in Harrodsburg with Bros. Tim Watts and Mackie Bounds officiating.

Timothy J. Arvin

Oct. 29, 1952 — July 31, 2022

Timothy J. Arvin, 69, of Bedford, passed away at 10:25 a.m. Sunday, July 31, 2022, at his home.

He was born October 29, 1952, in Washington, Indiana to the late Joseph and Marie (Craney) Arvin. Tim married Martha “Marti” Wade on May 27, 1978, and she survives.

Tim was an Army National Guard veteran and served his country for six years during the Vietnam era. He retired from General Motors as a Tool and Die maker after 31 years of employment. He was a member of the St. Vincent Catholic Church in Bedford, Knights of Columbus, American Legion Post 33, Bedford Boat Club and United Auto Workers Union 440. Tim enjoyed antique tractor shows, especially the White River Valley Antique Show. He also liked to work on cars.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Marie Arvin; father-in-law, Paul Wade.

Tim is survived by his wife, Marti Arvin of Bedford; sons, Matthew (Lindsay Schwartz) Arvin of Bear Creek, North Carolina, Benjamin Arvin (fiancée, Mandi Gillespie) of Bloomington and Paul (Christina) Arvin of Greencastle; twin grandchildren, Emmett and Charlotte Arvin; siblings, Sandy (Jim) Little, Marsha (Ron) Chandler, Mary Jo (Marlin Littleton) O’Brian and Mark Arvin (girlfriend, Sylvia Greene); uncle, Dale Arvin; aunts, Carolyn Arvin, Deanie Trowbridge and Bernadette Abel; mother-in-law, Aggie Wade.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 4, 2022, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Loogootee, officiated by Very Rev. J. Kenneth Walker. Burial will follow in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery – Barr Township.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 3, 2022, from 4:00 pm. to 7:00 p.m. at Blake Funeral Home in Loogootee and Thursday, August 4, 2022, from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the St. Mary Cemetery Fund.

Martha Ann (Fox) Krenke Allen, 64, passed away Saturday, July 30, 2022 at her residence.

Born July 14, 1958, in Lawrence County, she was the daughter of Charles “Tom” and Margaret (Taylor) Fox.

Martha was a Mitchell High School graduate. She worked as a manager at Snow’s Drive-In for many years. Martha was a former member of the Bedford Fraternal Order of Eagles 654. She enjoyed country music and dreamed of moving to Nashville, Tennessee, which she loved visiting.

Surviving are her children, Jeffrey (Miranda) Salyer of Orleans, Brooke (Nick Nolan) Salyer of Orleans, and Annie (Jason Todd) Pridemore of Orleans; grandchildren, Magan, Allison, Charlie, Dryver, Wynter, Ryver, Madison, Lilly Emma, and Maverick; mother, Margaret (Taylor) Grace of Mitchell; and her faithful dog, Willy Nelson Allen.

Her father and husbands, Russell “Rusty” Krenke and Charles “Duane” Allen, preceded her in death.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Friday, August 5, in the Memorial Chapel at Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center. Cremation will follow.

Stacy Renee Wright, 44, of Bedford, passed away on Thursday, July 28, 2022.

Born April 10, 1978, in Bedford, she was the daughter of Dr. Ross S. and Barbara (Hildreth) Wright.

Stacy enjoyed hiking, refinishing furniture, being outdoors and her dog, Journey.

Surviving are her parents, a sister, Erin Wright Wallace, two brothers, David Wright and wife, Rebecca, Bryan Wright and wife Ginger, and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 7:00 pm, Friday, August 5, 2022, in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary. Visitation will be from 3:00 pm – 7:00 pm at the mortuary. Memorial contributions in memory of Stacy can be made to the White River Humane Society.

Blane Davidson, 81, Bedford, passed away as a result of an accident Friday 29 July 2022.

He was born May 22, 1941, in Hazard KY to Oscar and Ciller McQueen Davidson. His wife of 55 years, Sharon Carter Davidson survives him.

He retired as a Millwright welder journeyman for General Motors Bedford Plant.

His greatest joys in life were his kids, grandkids, great grandkids, playing cards and fishing.

Survivors include four daughters, Jenny Davidson & Mike Baker of Charleston, South Carolina, Julie Davidson Slone of Bedford, Jamie Davidson & Mike Tomey of Bedford and Jannessa Davidson & Brandie Herring of Bethel Island, California; 9 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren; 3 sisters Sylvia Davidson & Les England of Medora, Dessie Davidson & Ronnie Byarlay of Medora and Pamela Davidson & Steve Blair of Medora; 2 brothers Dallas Davidson of Sparksville Clarence & Marsha Davidson of Hayden, lifelong friend/brother (these two…they had some really good times) Jack and LeeAnn Speer of Las Vegas, Nevada and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Sister Edith Davidson Hill; Sister in-law Priscilla Davidson; Nephew Ervin Glen Byaraly; Great Nephew Landon Ivan Singer, Mother and father in-law Verle and Wayne Trogdon.

Celebration of life will be Wednesday August 3rd, from 4-7PM at the Medora Christian Church, 76 S George St, Medora, IN 47260. Refreshments will be served and in lieu of flowers, please plant a tree as that is what Blane would have wanted, seeing as though he was so close to nature and loved working with wood.

Merilyn Jo Eckert, 85, of Bedford, passed away on Monday, July 25, 2022 at Westview Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.

Born March 15, 1937, in South Bend, Indiana, she was the daughter of Paul and Helen (Rajski) Hold. She married Albert Eckert and he preceded her in death.

She was a homemaker and believer in Christ. Merilyn loved animals, gardening, dancing, music and taking care of those in need.

Surviving are three daughters, Lana Eckert and fiancé Victor Richart of Granger, IN, Heidi Frantom of Hannibal, Missouri, Tami Eckert of Bedford, three sons, Brian Eckert (Theresa) New Carlisle, IN, Addam Eckert (Kimberly) of Springville, IN and Joshua Eckert of New Carlisle, IN, a sister, Mandy Manges of Sun City, AZ.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sons, Scott Eckert and Craig Eckert and a brother, Richard Hold.
