Grissom – Leslie Harley Grissom of Bedford, IN, died Saturday, March 30, 2002 at Bloomington Hospital. Born on May 25, 1933, in Williams, IN, he was the son of Long and Mina Vivian (Colglazier) Grissom. He married Patricia Lou George on October 25, 1951, and she survives.
Surviving with his wife are one son, Michael Leslie Grissom of Oolitic, IN; one daughter, Mrs. Joe (Vicky Grissom) Hicks of Bedford, IN; one sister, Maxine Golden Rogers; three grandchildren, Leslie Joe Hicks, Amanda Jane Grissom, and John Michael Harley Grissom; and one nephew, Preston Terry Rogers. He was preceded in death by his parents; step-father, Oliver E. Flynn; and one niece, Debra Beaver.
He was a retired Chevrolet car salesman in Bedford and was a 1952 graduate of Williams High School. He was a member of American Legion Gillen Post #33 and a lifetime honorary member of the Bedford Boat and Sportsman's Club. He was an accomplished musician and entertainer for forty-five years in and around Lawrence County.

Kidd – Goldman Estle Kidd of Springville, IN, died Monday, March 25, 2002, at the Loogootee Nursing Home. Born on January 22, 1924, in Wayne County, KY, he was the son of Harley and Pearlie (Thompson) Kidd. He married Ruth Hotchings in 1946, and she died on March 6, 1984.
Surviving are two daughters, Kathryn Pennington of Shoals, IN, and Vicki Silvers of Springville, IN; a companion, Mary Sparks of Bloomington, IN; three brothers, Ernie Kidd of Bloomington, IN, Gola Kidd of Bedford, IN, and Hobert Kidd of Springville, IN; three sisters, Wilma Kidd and Dottie Murphy, both of Seymour, IN, and Arie Rush of Bedford, IN; five grandchildren: Kevin Silvers, Kirby and wife Charlene Silvers, Kerry Silvers, Kristian Terry, and Robbie Pennington; seven great-grandchildren, three step-great-grandchildren, and seven step-great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife; four brothers: Leslie, Lester, Novel, and Melvin Kidd; and one sister, Ada Riser.
He was a retired welder from Kaiser Aluminum and a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army. He was a member and past commander of VFW #1686.
Services for Goldman Kidd will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, March 28th, at the Day & Carter Mortuary with Bro. Max Abel officiating. Reuter – Helen E. Reuter of Bedford, IN, died Sunday, March 24, 2002, at Dunn Memorial Hospital. Born on June 21, 1910, in Lawrence County, IN, she was the daughter of Carve and Effie (Hawkins) Fisher. She married Raymond C. Reuter on July 19, 1930, and he died on May 3, 1977.
Surviving are one son, Dean Reuter and his wife, Jeanie, of Oolitic, IN; Gloria Hawkins and her husband, Zelbert, of Bedford, IN; five grandchildren: Jerry Hawkins, Debbie Maze, Randy Hawkins, Susan Blythe, and Denny Reuter, all of Lawrence County, IN; ten great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; four sisters: Schola Todd, Nina Meadows, Mildred Turpen, and Avylee George; and one brother, Harley Fisher.
She had worked at Sarkes-Tarzian in Bloomington and was a member of Dive Christian Church.

East – Michael David East of Bloomington, IN, died Saturday, March 23, 2002, at his residence. Born on August 27, 1944, in Bedford, IN, he was the son of Fred W. and Bertha (Holland) East. He married Joann Covey on October 17, 1992, and she survives.
Surviving with his wife are one brother, Fred D. East of Bedford, IN; three sisters: Rosalie Brangers of Louisville, KY, Linda Runyon (his twin) of Bedford, IN; and Moneta Bush of Clarksville, In; four step-sons: Rob Covey of Stanford, IN, Danny Mobley of Bloomington, IN, Richard Mobley of Illinois, and Jimmy Deckard of Bloomington, IN; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
He was a bartender at V.F.W. in Bloomington, IN, and was a 1962 graduate of Heltonville High School.

Aardappel – Dorothy L. (Row) Aardappel of Indianapolis, IN, formerly of Bedford, IN, died Wednesday, March 20, 2002, at Community Hospital South in Indianapolis. Born on May 25, 1923, in Terre Haute, IN, she was the daughter of Odos B. and Grace C. (Akin) Row.
Surviving are one daughter, Barbara Reynolds of Omaha, NE; one son, Mike Thurman of Indianapolis; two brothers, Emerson Row of Bedford, IN, and William J. Row of Sommerset, KY; seven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. he was preceded in death by one sister, Eunice Hawkins.
She was a homemaker.

Beacher – Bernice Beacher of Spencer, IN, formerly of Mitchell, IN, died Wednesday, March 20, 2002, at the Bloomington Hospital. She was born on September 9, 1925, in Martin County.
Surviving are one son, Charles Lambert of Mitchell, IIN; one brother, Wayne Holt of Orleans, IN; three sisters, Annabelle Blake of Alfordsville, IN, Virginia Earl of Mitchell, IN, and Hazel Joann Hall of Mitchell, IN; and two grandchildren.
She had been worked in home nursing, and was a member of the Mitchell Church of Christ.

Brassfield – John E. Brassfield of Bedford, IN, died Tuesday, March 19, 2002, at the Hospitality House. Born on September 2, 1923, in Bedford, IN, he was the son of Paul and Vivian (Scott) Brassfield. He married Alice E. Piper on April 30, 1948, and she died January 31, 1993.
Surviving are one daughter, Cindy Vaught of Indianapolis; five grandchildren, and one great-grandson. He was preceded in death by his wife and one son, Donald Brassfield.
He was a retired school bus driver and was former co-owner of Brassfield Poultry & Cream Station. He was a member of the Church of God.

Harper – Debra J. Harper of Mitchell, IN, died Monday, March 18, 2002, at the Bloomington Hospital. Born on January 27, 1953, in Lawrence County, IN, she was the daughter of Doyle and Geneva (Archer) Bocock. She married Donald Harper in 1981, and he survives.
Surviving with her husband are one son, Shane Gaddis of Salem, IN; one daughter, Sondra Gaddis of Mitchell, IN; one brother, Randy Bocock of Mitchell, IN; and four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Miller – William L. "Pat" Miller of Bedford, IN, died Sunday, March 17, 2002, at Westview Manor. Born on March 23, 1920, in McCracken County, KY, he was the son of Joseph J. and Bertie (Fields) Miller. He married Bobbie Lowe on June 30, 1946, and she survives.
Surviving with his wife are one daughter, Diane Carol Miller of Bedford, IN; one brother, VanBuren Miller of Mt. Clemons, MI; one sister, Ebby Boulnos of Rogers, AK; three grandchildren: Tim Miller and wife, Emily, of Pasadena, CA, Hollie and Rebecca Miller, both of Bedford, IN; several nieces and nephews.
He was a machinist for The Cross Company in Frazier, MI, and retired in 1982. He attended Leatherwood Christian Church in Bedford and was a member of Masonic Lodge #596 in Frazier, MI.

Sparks – Myrtle Norman Sparks of Bedford, IN, died Sunday, March 17, 2002, at the Hospitality House. Born on November 7, 1905, in Solsberry, IN, she was the daughter of Elmer C. and Estey A. McKnight) Norman. She first married Joe Pickens. She then married George A. Sparks.
Surviving are her niece and adopted daughter, Ann Thompson and husband, Robert, of Bedford, IN; her nephew and adopted son, David Norman and wife, Judy, of Switz City, IN; one nephew, William L. Norman and wife, Janet, of Mooresville, IN; five grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three brothers: Isaac H. Norman, William A. Norman, and one in infancy; and five sisters, Elsie A. Norman and four in infancy.
She taught school for twenty years at Fayetteville, Bedford Junior High School, and Bedford High School. She received both AB and MS degrees from Indiana University and was of Protestant faith.

Cromer – The Rev. Frederick L. Cromer of West Baden Springs, IN, formerly of Mitchell, IN, died Saturday, March 16, 2002, at his residence. Born on October 10, 1931, in Star City, IN, he was the son of Elmer and Pearl (Hyatt) Cromer. He married Marilyn Rose Snow on August 1, 1952, and she died March 4, 2000. He married Kay M. Mitchell on January 1, 2001, and she survives.
Surviving with his wife are two sons, Fred L. (Carol) Cromer of Mitchell, IN, and Daniel A. (Dorcas) Cromer of Marion, IN; one daughter, Karen D. (Keith) Reeves of LaVerne, CA; three step-sons: J. David Ross of Princeton, IN, Mark Ross of Indianapolis, and Phillip Ross of Orleans, IN; and twenty grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and three siblings: Oscar Cromer, Ann Rush, and Darwin Cromer.
He received a master's degree from Indiana University and taught five years in Arizona. He was a missionary for fourteen years in Eritrea, East Africa, and pastored churches in Phoenix, AZ, and Mitchell, Aurora, Sylvania, and French Lick, IN. An ordained elder, he taught extension classes for students preparing for ordination in the Wesleyan Church. He was a member of the Mitchell Wesleyan Church.

Hovis – Betty Hovis of Shoals, IN, died Saturday, March 16, 2002, at her residence. Born on October 30, 1937, in Williams, IN, she was the daughter of Ralph Mary Belle (Gee) Owens. She married Leo Hovis on September 1, 1957, and he survives.
Surviving with her husband are two sons, Kevin Hovis of Shoals, IN, and Terry Hovis of Columbus, IN; two daughters, Carol Abel of Shoals, IN, and Darla Hovis of Indianapolis; one brother, Donald Owens of Williams, IN; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and one son, Rickey Hovis.
She was a housewife and a member of the Williams Church of Christ.

Williams – Eva Maria Williams of Bedford, IN, died Saturday, March 16, 2002, at Bedford Regional Medical Center. Born on November 5, 1948, in Germany, she was the daughter of Rudolph and Dora (Schelsky) Hellmich.
Surviving are her mother of Germany; two son, Kody Williams of Bedford, IN, and Shawn Dugan of Peris, CA; one daughter, Laura Hassman of Littleton, CO; two step-sons, Mike Williams of Bedford, IN, and Kevin Williams of Bloomington, IN; one brother, Manfred Hellmich of Germany; and six grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father; one sister; and one grandson, Joshua Dugan.
She was a housewife and worked for seven years at Dunn Memorial Hospital in Respiratory Care. She was of Christian faith and attended the Tunnelton United Methodist Church and White River Baptist Church.

Anderson – Wayne R. Anderson of Bedford, IN, died Sunday, March 10, 2002, at the Bedford Regional Medical Center. Born on November 3, 1925, in Brazil, IN, he was the son of C. Ray and Myrtle (Coughanowr) Anderson. He married Marjorie Scharf on April 24, 1948, in Brazil, IN, and she survives.
Surviving with his wife are one son and his wife, Gary Wayne and Janna Anderson of Olney, MD; one daughter and her husband, Linda Kay and Mike Yuhas of Grand Rapids, MI; and two grandsons, Brian Anderson of Olney, MD, and Brad Short and his wife Melissa. He was preceded in death by one grandson, Ryan Wesley Short.
He was a retired teacher and band director in the North Lawrence Community Schools. He was a graduate of Indiana State University (BS and MS degrees), and was a member and elder of the First Presbyterian Church in Bedford. He was a member of Bedford Kiwanis Club (past president), the Retired Teachers' Association, and Indiana Teachers' Association.

Mitchell – Lula May Mitchell of Bedford, IN, died Sunday, March 10, 2002, at the Hospitality House. Born on December 8, 1906 in Arkansas, she was the daughter of John and Caldonia (Fisher) Cheek. She married Dale Mitchell on January 22, 1926, and he died June 29, 1996.
Surviving are two sons, Gene Mitchell and Jim Mitchell, both of Bedford, IN; two daughters, Anna Louise McCain of Bedford, IN, and Pauline Brewer of Las Vegas, NV; one brother, Clifford Cheek of Arkansas; one sister, Alma Cheek of Arkansas; fourteen grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren, and ten great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; one daughter, Janet Ellen Mitchell; two sisters; and six brothers.
She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church.

Bundy – Ralph Bundy of Bedford, IN, died Saturday, March 9, 2002, as a result of an accident at his residence. Born on May 8, 1909, in Lawrenceport, IN, he was the son of Anderson and Carrie Bell (Miller) Bundy. He married Lois Reynolds on July 3, 1929, and she died October 29, 1995.
Surviving are one sister, Vernia (Bundy) Cord of Illinois; his special friend, Ilene Gerkin of Bedford, IN; two grandchildren, Sandra (Bundy) Owens of Alabama and Eric Andrew Bundy of Tennessee; six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife; one son, Roy Dale Bundy; and one brother, Floyd Bundy.
He worked at the Harold Covey Service Station in Bedford and later leased the business and drove dump trucks and a school bus. In 1940 he sold his business and became a truck driver for Finney Brothers Stone Company. He was employed by W.F. Meyers & Company in 1942, retiring in May 1972. He was a charter member of Southland Church of Christ and a member of U.A.W. Local 1123.

Cross – Margaret C. Cross of Bedford, IN, died Saturday, March 9, 2002, at the Hospitality House. Born on March 22, 1903, in Lawrence County, IN, she was the daughter of George and Mollie (Wagner) Moore. She married Frank T. Cross on May 29, 1925, and he died on April 10, 1957.
Surviving are one daughter, Betty Brown of Bedford, IN; one granddaughter, Debbie Gipe of Bedford, IN; and one great-grandson, Jordan Gipe of Bedford, IN. She was preceded in death by her husband; two sons, Robert and Donald, both in infancy; and one brother, Francis Moore.
She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church, where she was the oldest member in both age and years of membership. She was a former pianist for the children's Sunday school, a member of the missionary society and ladies circle of the church, a member of AARP and the Business and Professional Women's Club.

Frazier – Ralph Frazier of Heltonville, IN, died Saturday, March 9, 2002, at Core Nursing Center. Born on December 5, 1935, in London, KY, he was the son of Willie and Sally (Cheek) Frazier. He married Phyllis Jones, and she survives.
Surviving with his wife are two daughters, Janica Frazier of Heltonville, IN, and Lisa Hughes of Owensburg, IN; three sons, Rick, Mike, and Randy Frazier, all of Heltonville, IN; one sister, Mae Caudill of London, KY; three brothers: Dale Frazier of Corbin, KY, Ray Frazier of Franklin, IN, and Don Frazier of Bedford, IN; and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
He worked at Siebolt Quarry, Ralph Rogers Company in Bedford, IN, and was of Baptist faith.

Hewetson – Bruce R. Hewetson of Bedford, IN, died Saturday, March 9, 2002, at Bloomington Hospital. Born on October 14, 1929, in Kokomo, IN, he was the son of Dutton James "Jack" and Lucille (Hayes) Hewetson. He married June King on Mary 28, 1950, and she survives.
Surviving with his wife are three children: Debra H. Dermody and her husband, Frank, of Oakmont, PA; Dr. Don J. Hewetson and his wife, Teri, or Rock Hill, SC; and Bruce A. Hewetson and his wife, Julie, of Bedford, IN; seven grandchildren: Clint A. Hewetson, Dirk J. Hewetson, Jessica K. Hewetson, Frank J. Dermody, Cara L. Dermody, Barron B. Hewetson, and Anah K. Hewetson; and brother-in-law, Sam King and his wife, Freda. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers: Dutton James Hewetson, Jr. and Don Hewetson.
He retired as superintendent and general foreman at GM Powertrain after forty years of service.

Keller – Kenneth Dale Keller of Bedford, IN, died Saturday, March 9, 2002, at his residence. Born on April 5, 1937, in Lawrence County, IN, he was the son of Ray and Gladys (Hutchinson) Bowman. He was later adopted by his step-father, Otis Keller. He married Norma King on July 20, 1963, and she survives.
Surviving with his wife are several cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, step-father, and one brother, Forrest Ray Bowman.
He was a 1956 graduate of Shawswick High and attended Bedford Regional Medical Center.

Surviving are three sons: Ronald Meadows of Greenfield, IN, Phillip Meadows of Lansing, MI, and Kenneth Meadows of Green Cove Springs, FL; one sister, Norma Thomas of Bedford, IN; one brother, Charles "Junior) Owens of Bedford, IN; nine grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband and one brother, William Owens.

Williams – Richard Earl Williams of Bedford, IN, died Saturday, March 9, 2002, at the White River Lodge. Born on September 27, 1913, in Lawrence County, IN, he was the son of Hamp and Iona (Newkirk) Williams. He married Florence Schaefer, and she died on September 15, 1988.
Surviving are one son, Jim Williams of Bedford, IN; one brother, Boone Williams of Port Richey, FL; two grandchildren, one niece and one nephew. He was preceded in death by his wife, one sister, and one brother, John Lee Williams.
He was a retired custodian for Bedford-North Lawrence Schools and was an Air Force veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the First Church of God, American Legion Gillen Post #33, and the American Pencil Collectors Society.

Cassidy – Harley E. (Gene) Cassidy of Bedford, IN, died Friday, March 8, 2002, at Blenburn Home in Linton, IN. Born on September 15, 1929, in Indianapolis, IN, he was the son of Robert Harley and Ray Ruth (Alexander) Cassidy. He married Wilma Jeanette Williams on August 12, 1950, and she survives.
Surviving with his wife are one daughter, Regina Anderson of Bedford, IN; four brothers: Charles Perry, Donald Lee, Gerald Dean and Dennis Ray; six sisters: Flora Elizabeth Hall, Rosetta Hudson, Mary Agnes Watson, Hazel Maxine Bush, Betty Lou Sanders, and Linda Helen Grissom; three granddaughters, Brooke, Crystal, and Whitney Anderson. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Robert Cassidy; and one brother, Robert Dale (in infancy).
He was a retired brick layer in Lawrence County and was a member of the Bryantsville Church of Christ.
There will be graveside services for Harley Cassidy at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, March 9th, at the Bryantsville Church of Christ Cemetery with Eugene Pound officiating. No calling hours are scheduled. Arrangements are under the direction of the Day & Carter Mortuary.
Link – Sadie Link of Bloomington, IN, formerly of Oolitic, IN, died March 8, 2002, at Bloomington Hospital. Born on January 3, 1915, in Lawrence County, she was the daughter of Otto and Lou Emma (Davis) Link.
Surviving is one nephew, Dr. William Link of Bloomington, IN; six great nieces and nephews, including William C. Link of Nashville, who was her guardian; fifteen great-great nieces and nephews; one foster niece, Anna Deremiah of Bloomington.
She was a member of the Oolitic Methodist Church.

Slate – Claudine G. Slate of Bedford, IN, died Friday, March 8, 2002. Born on August 3, 1928, in Polls Grove, KY, she was the daughter of Edmund Thomas and Stella (Webb) Graves.
Surviving are three sons: Ricky Hanks of Bedford, IN, Jerry Hanks of Brouston, KY, and Michael Hanks of Mitchell, IN; one daughter, Myra K. Baker of Columbus, IN; one sister, Jean Barnett of Springville, IN; two brothers, Gayle Graves of Henderson, KY, and Cecil Graves of Coleen, IN; nine grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Gregory McFarlan; and two grandchildren.
She was a retired worker of RCA in Bloomington and was a member of the Springville Methodist Church.

Brown – Thomas A. Brown of Bedford, IN, formerly of Springville, IN, died Thursday, March 7, 2002, at the Bedford Regional Medical Center. Born on October 6, 1913, in Spencer County, IN, he was the son of Charles W. and Emma Jane (Oskins) Brown. He married Zetta Mae Curts on December 1, 1933, and she died February 24, 1992.
Surviving are one son, Charles W. Brown of Bedford, IN; two daughter, Emma Jane Sowders of Bedford, IN, and Georgia Marie Roberts of Bloomfield, IN; eight grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife; one son, Thomas Robert Brown; four brothers: Arthur, Noel, Carol, and George Brown; and three sisters: Edith Waddle, Elsie Hawkins, and Frances Mae Day.
He was a farmer and operated Ferguson Farms in Perry and Indian Creek Townships for over 40 years, retiring in 1992. He was a member of Old Union Christian Church.

Fish – Kevin W. Fish of Terre Haute, IN, formerly of Bedford, IN, died Thursday, March 7, 2002, at the Halifax Medical Center in Daytona Beach, FL, from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident which occurred Monday evening. Born on August 6, 1971, in Bedford, IN, he was the son of Steven L. and Patricia A. (Senger) Fish. He married Tammy Exum Conn on January 1, 2001, and she survives.
Surviving with his wife or Terre Haute, IN, are his parents of Bedford, IN; one daughter, Dailyn Beck; one brother, Jim Fish and wife, Natalie of Ft. Wayne, IN; two nephews, Nathan Fish and Hunter Voss; three nieces, Rachael Conn, Ashley Voss, and Nicole Voss; several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was a sales representative for Woodburn Graphics. Named Boy of the Year in 1983 by the Bedford Boy's Club, he was a 1989 graduate of Bedford North Lawrence High School and attended Indiana University, where he was a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity. He was a member of the Wabash Valley Motorcycle Club and the Sycamore Country Club. He was serving on the board of directors for the Children's Science and Technology Museum.

Heady – Lois Heady of Bedford, IN, died Thursday, March 7, 2002, at Dunn Memorial Hospital. Born on March 8, 1915, in Lawrence County, IN, she was the daughter of Herbert and Effie (Eagan) Hackler. She married Loren Heady in August, 1934, and he died May 30, 1985.
Surviving are one son, Harold Morris Heady of Bedford, IN; one sister, Mrs. Pauline Remsik of Indianapolis; one brother, Sylvester Hackler of Martinsville, IN; three grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and several step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; one son, Loren E. Heady; one daughter in infancy; and two sisters, Mary Greathouse and Bertha Bough.
She was a homemaker and a member of Dive Christian Church.

Galloway – James H. Galloway of Bedford, IN, died Tuesday, March 5, 2002, at the Hospitality House. Born on April 3, 1929, in Lawrence County, IN, he was the son of Wayne C. and Golda (Watson) Galloway.
Surviving are two sons, Timothy H. Galloway and Anthony J. Galloway, both of Bedford, IN; one daughter, Jamie Elaine Turner of Atlanta, GA; one brother, Conrad H. Galloway of Seymour, IN; and three grandchildren: Christopher Wayne Galloway, Travis C. Turner, and Carly E. Turner. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Betty Rose Whitehead.
He retired from GM Powertrain in 1981. He was a member of Gulletts Creek Baptist Church and attended First Baptist Church.

Hall – Dorothy J. Hall of Oolitic, IN, died Tuesday, March 5, 2002, at Hospitality House. Born on June 10, 1914, in Lawrence County, IN, she was the daughter of Milford H. and Abby (Neely) Godsey. She married Robert T. Hall on December 17, 1938, and he died in October, 2001.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Phyllis) Abel of Guthrie,IN, and Mrs. Max (Barbara) Abel of Tunnelton, IN; one son and daughter-in-law, Robert Wayne and June E. Hall of Guthrie, IN; two brothers, Hobert and Ivan Godsey; four sisters: Elsie Banks, Alma Bottoroff, Ruby Adkins, and Artie Perry; eigtht grandchildren: Jeff Hall, Pam Abel, Scott Abel, Debbie Speer, Sandy Jetgvig, Theresa Abel, Bryan Abel, and Matthew Abel; and eleven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; five brothers: Oliver, Lowell, Beckam, Robert, Hurstle Godsey; and one sister, Zelma Rainbolt.
She was an employee of M.Fine & Sons and was of the Pentecostal faith.

Boshears – Brittany Boshears of Bedford, IN, died Sunday, March 3, 2002 at Bloomington Hospital from injuries sustained in an auto accident. Born on August 11, 1983, in Bedford, IIN, she was the daughter of Homer E. and Donnet (Flynn) Boshears.
Surviving are her parents of Bedford, IN; maternal grandparents, Don and Betty Flynn of Springville, IN; paternal grandparents, Bill and Norma Paxton of Mitchell, IN; cousins, Kameron and Kailen Flynn of Springville, IN. She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Homer L. Boshears.
She was a hostess at the Red Lobster Restaurant in Bloomington.

Crockett – Margaret Celestine Crockett of Sacramento, CA, formerly of Bedford, IN, died Sunday, March 3, 2002, at Norwood Pinescare Center in Sacramento. Born on September 9, 1910, in Lawrence County, IN, she was the daughter of Dale and Estella (Miller) Hegwood. She married Ancil Crockett on August 1, 1957, and he died February 21, 1979.
Surviving are one son, Parker Severaid of Sacramento, CA; one step-son, Ronald Crockett of Costa Mesa, CA, one sister, Faye White of Mooresville, IN; one grandson, two great-grandchildren, six step-grandchildren, and several step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and by three brothers: Roy, Ralph, and Cletus Hegwood.
She worked at the Greystone Hotel from 1946-1957 and was a member of the First Baptist Church and Bedford Elks Auxiliary.
There will be graveside services for Margaret Crockett will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 8th, at Cresthaven Memory Gardens with the Rev. Jon Lineback officiating. There will be no calling hours. Services are under the direction of the Day & Carter Mortuary.
Houseman – Carl H. Houseman, Jr. of Bedford, IN, died Sunday, March 3, 2002, at Mitchell Manor. Born on May 16, 1932, in East Lansing, MI, he was the son of Carl H. and Margaret (Starr) Houseman. He married Rebecca Robinson on June 4, 1955, at the Free Methodist Church in Bedford, and she survives.
Surviving with his wife are one daughter and her husband, Juliann and Tom Caruthers of Mt. Vernon, IA; one sister, Sue Houseman of Lansing, MI; one brother, William Houseman of Lansing, MI; one grandson, Jesse Thomas Caruthers of Iowa; several nieces and nephews, and his best fishing buddy, Gene Whitford. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Scott Eric Houseman in 1998; one sister, Retta Jean Ashley; and one brother, Robert Houseman.
He retired from the Marine Corps after 23 years of service and then worked at Crane, retiring from there also. He was of Catholic faith and a Marine Corps veteran serving during the Korean Conflict and Vietnam. He was a member of American Legion Post #33, V.F.W. Oolitic, Bedford Boat & Sportsman's Club, and Eagles #654.

Keith – Daily Keith of Bedford, IN, formerly of Somerset, KY, died Sunday, March 3, 2002, at Bedford Regional Medical Center. Born on November 4, 1912, in Wayne County, KY, he was the son of G.D. and Mitilda (New) Keith. He married Bertie Cornett and she died August 24, 1978. He married Nevada Nickless, and she survives.
Surviving with his wife of Naples, FL, are two sons, Paul Keith of Williams, IN, and Amos Keith of Tampa, FL; two daughters, Regina Brock of Williams, IN, and Joyce Tipton of Lexington, KY; fourteen grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, and eleven great-great-grandchildren. He was the last of his family.
He was a retired coal miner and self-employed dairy farmer. He was a charter member and deacon of Bethel Baptist Church in Williams, IN.

George – Myrtle R. George of Bedford, IN, died Saturday, March 2, 2002, at Arthur B. & Ethel V. Horton VNA Hospice Center in Valparaiso, IN. Born on July 19, 1929 in Lawrence County, IN, she was the daughter of George D. and Grace (Stroud) Williams. She married David L. George on February 18, 1947, and he died on January 11, 2001.
Surviving are two daughters, Diana Kovach of Valparaiso, In, and Vicky Taylor of Westville, IN; one sister, Lois Chenault of East Oolitic, IN; two brothers, Carl Williams of Bloomington, IN and Homer Williams of Lawrence County, IN; four grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, one sister, and two brothers.
She was a homemaker and a member of Davis Memorial Nazarene Church.

Harding – Jacqueline "Jackie" Bennett Harding of Clearcreek, IN, died Saturday, March 2, 2002, at the Cookeville Regional Medical Center in Cookeville, TN. Born on September 5, 1946, in Lexington, KY, she was the daughter of John William and Dollie Beatrice (McDaniel) Bennett. She married Gilbert Harding in 1990, and he survives.
Surviving with her husband are one daughter, Lisa Williams of Allardt, TN; one son, John Cooper of Bedford, IN; one brother, Darryl Bennett of Columbus, IN; one sister, Judy Williams of Shirley, IN; one step-daughter, Donna Bailey of Bloomington, IN; three step-sons, David, Mike, and Rick Harding, all of Bloomington, IN; seven grandchildren, eight step-grandchildren, one niece, three nephews, and seven great nieces and nephews.
A 1964 graduate of Bedford High School, she graduated with honors from nursing school at Ivy Tech in Bloomington in 1977. She worked at Dunn Memorial Hospital, Hospitality House, Mitchell Manor, and at GE in Bloomington.

Mann – Priscilla "Chid" Mann of Mitchell, IN, died Saturday, March 2, 2002, at Methodist Hospital. Born on August 30, 1921, in Mitchell, IN, she was the daughter of Ellis and Verna (Green) White. She married Charles William Mann on February 7, 1941, and he died on August 24, 1994.
Surviving are two sons, Michael William Mann of Mitchell, IN, and Dennis Raymond Mann of Mitchell, IN; two daughters, Connie Sue Jenkins of Mitchell, IN, and Julia Lee Fender of Bedford, IN; two sisters, Rowena Brooks of Mitchell, IN, and Shirley Cocks of St.Petersburg, FL; one brother, John Paul White of Indianapolis; thirteen grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; one son, Anthony Wayne "Tony" Mann; and three sisters: Ellen Cargas, Geneva Mann, and Goldie McClintic.
A 1940 graduate of Mitchell High School, she was a homemaker and childcare proficer. She was a member of the First Baptist Church.

Branham – Allene Branham of Bedford, IN, died Friday, March 1, 2002, at Dunn Memorial Hospital. Born on April 18, 1925, iin Wayne County, KY, she was the daughter of Douglas and Jannie (Rigney) Denney. She married Marvin Branham on August 19, 1946, in Frankfort, IN, and he died on January 30, 1997.
Surviving are two daughters, Marlene Hendershot and Geneva Roark, both of Bedford, IN; two sons, Wallace Branham of Bedford, IN, and Donald Branham of Heltonville, IN; four brothers: Eugene Denney of Bedford, IN, Ernest Denney of Glasgow, KY, Jimmy Denney of California, and Earl Denney of Bowling Green, KY; eight grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband and two brothers, Kermit and Hobert Denney.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Moose Lodge #456 of Columbus and the Senior Citizens of Lawrence County.

Griffin – Wanda Maxine Griffin of Bedford, IN, died Friday, March 1, 2002, at Dunn Memorial Hospital. Born on November 25, 1937, in Columbus, IN, she was the daughter of the Rev. Lester and Grace (Alexander) Vanest. She married Herbert Griffin on August 11, 1982, and he survives.
Surviving with her husband are one son, Mike Piatt and his wife Leslie of Los Angeles, CA; three grandchildren, Amber Piatt, Alexander Piatt, and Hannah Piatt, all of Los Angeles, CA; three step-sons: Herbert Scott Griffin, Gregory J. Griffin and Shawn Edward Griffin, all of Washington; five step-grandchildren; two brothers, Bud Vanest and his wife Joyce of Bloomington, IN, and Tom Vanest and his wife Kristen of Dennison, TX; one sister, Marigrace Bennett and her husband Nick of Bedford, IN; five nephews, two nieces, and several great-nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her father, the Rev. Lester Vanest on November 7, 1993.
She was a homemaker and a partner in the Doghouse Saloon in Oolitic and was a 1955 graduate of Heltonville High School.

Mason – James A. Mason of Bedford, IN, died Friday, March 1, 2002, at Dunn Memorial Hospital. Born on June 4, 1939, in Lawrence County, IN, he was the son of Frank and Bertha (Cain) Mason. He married Thelma Mundy on February 23, 1962, in Lawrence County, IN, and she survives.
Surviving with his wife are two daughters, Mrs. Wayne (Glenda) Hall of Mitchell, IN, and Mrs. Brian (Debbie) Reynolds of Bicknell, IN; one son, Randy Blackwell of Bedford, IN; one brother, Leroy Mason of Bedford, IN; three sisters: Mildred King, Mrs. Ralph (Carolyn) Butler, and Mrs. Kenneth (Brenda) Bundy, all of Bedford, IN; eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Jimmie Mason in 1978; two sisters; three brothers; and one granddaughter, Lisa Troutman.
He was owner of Mason's Masonary for 39 years and was of the Baptist faith.
