12/31/01 Reuter – Raymon E. Reuter of Bedford, IN, died at his residence. Born on May 5, 1951, in Germany, he was the son of Gordon and Morgot (Diehl) Reuter. Surviving are twin daughters, Alisha and Erin Reuter of Bedford, IN; one son, Casey Reuter of Bedford, IN; one brother, Ronald Reuter of Bedford, IN; one sister, Ramona Gould of Bedford, IN; and the paternal grandmother, Helen L. Reuter of Bedford, IN. He was employed at Big Blue Store in Bedford. Services for Ramon Reuter will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 4th, at the Day & Carter Mortuary with the Rev. Ennis of Bedford, IN, died Sunday, December 30, 2001, at Bloomington Hospitality House. Born on March 4, 1945, in Arkansas, he was the son of James D. and Estine (Liles) Ennis. He married Patricia Blakely on October 25, 1986, and she survives. Surviving with his wife are his mother, Estine of Evansville, IN; one son, Ricky Ennis of Evansville, IN; two daughters, Christine Chumley and Irene Ennis, both of Evansville, IN; one step-son, Jeffery Hawkins of Bedford, IN; four brothers: Lee Ennis of Spencer, IN, and Gary, Larry, ad Steve Ennis, all of Evansville, IN; and four grandchildren; He was preceded in death by his father and two sisters, Barbara Osborne and Geraldine Long. He was a construction worker in Bloomington and Bedford and was a member of White River Baptist Church. Arrangements are under the direction of the Day & Carter Mortuary. 12/27/01 Bartley – Martha Bartley of Bedford, IN, died Thursday, December 27, 2001, at her residence. Born on August 25, 1919, in Lawrence County, IN, she was the daughter of Frank and Ida Huff. She married Edward Maurice Bartley in October, 1940, and he died March 21, 1997. Surviving are her caregiver and daughter-in-law, Eileen Bartley of Springville, IN; one son, Robert "Eddie" Bartley of Springville, IN; one sister-in-law, Mary Huff of San Diego, Ca; ten grandchildren, twenty-four great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; one son, Tom Bartley; two brothers; and three sisters. She was a homemaker, a member of Hillcrest Christian Church, and a life-time member of the Rebeccas. Born on February 9, 1911, in Lawrence County, IN, she was the daughter of Dennis and Sallie (Foster) Kern. She married Paul Flynn on June 30, 1929, and he survives. Surviving with her husband are one son, David L. Flynn of Bedford, IN; one daughter, Barbara A. Kelley of Concord, NC; eight grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by one son, Paul E. Flynn, four brothers, and one grandchild. She was a retired factory worker at Sarkas Tarzian and was a member of the Wesleyan Church. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Friday at Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home. Lawyer – Raymond S. Lawyer of Oolitic, IN, died Thursday, December 26, 2001, at Scott Memorial Hospital in Scottsburg, IN. Born on October 14, 1915, in Oolitic, IN, he was the son of William and Ida (Campbell) Lawyer. He married Erma Frances Baker on August 16, 1953, and she died January 6, 1974. Surviving are one nephew, A. B. Broglin of Bedford, IN; one great-niece, Alicia Broglin Parker of Bedford, IN; two great-nephews, Jon and Chris Broglin, both of Oolitic, IN. He was preceded in death by his wife; two sisters, Ilena and Lantia Lawyer; and two brothers, Cleatus and Robert Lawyer. He was a W.W. II veteran, serving in the U.S. Army with Headquarter Co. 1 Armored Regiment where he served in the European Theatre and was a prisoner of war. Upon his discharge from the military, he returned to Oolitic and assumed duties as the Postmaster of Oolitic and was the owner-operator of Smallwood Pharmacy and the Hoosier Ave. Liquor Store. He was of the Methodist faith and was a 50-year member of the Patriot Lodge #750 off Oolitic, Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis and American Legion Gillen Post #33. Services for Raymond Lawyer will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, December 30th, at the Day & Carter Mortuary. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens with graveside military rites accorded by members of the American Legion Gillen Post #33. The family asks that friends consider memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society. 12/26/01 Kimble – Russell Fred Kimble of Orleans, IN, died Wednesday, December 26, 2001, at his residence. Born on May 22, 1918, at Bonds Chapel, IN, he was the son of Russell Bailey and Orie Mable (Tharp) Kimble. He married Dorothy Irene Jackman on September 2, 1939, and she survives. Surviving with his wife are two daughters, Linda Lee Scoggan and husband, Jerry, of Orleans, IN, and Rita Jane Stevens and husband, Joe, of Mitchell, IN; one son, William Bailey Kimble and wife, Bev, of Bedford, IN; six grandchildren: Ada Lynn Scoggan of Odon, IN, Richard Brian Scoggan of Orleans, IN, Donald Eugene Stevens of Mitchell, IN, Tammie Sue Stevens of Mitchell, IN, Michael Joe Stevens of Paragon, IN, Brandi Rena Kimble Hughes of Bedford, IN; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Sonja Sue Kimble; three sisters: Marie Hoper, Orpha Allen, and Henrietta Baugh; one brother, Henry Kimble; and one great-grandson, Evan Kimble Hughes. He was a farmer and retired in 1981 from Carpenter Body Works. He was a member of Autumn Oaks Coon Hunters Association and Liberty Christian Church. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Friday and from 8:30 a.m. until the service time Saturday at Chastain Funeral Home. 12/25/01 Kowal – Andreas (Andy) Kowal of Bedford, IN, died Tuesday, December 25, 2001, at his residence. Born on December 14, 1922, in Sokolowa Wala, Poland, he was the son of Mike and Ludwina (Podlo) Kowal. He married Alyce Roberts on August 24, 1956, and she died November 14, 1985. Surviving are one step-son, Edward Foster of Irvine, CA, and many close friends. He was preceded in death by his wife; three brothers: Jack, Joe, and Walter Kowal; and two sisters, Katarina and Josephine. He served in the German Army during World War II, came to Chicago in 1951, and retired from Burlington Northern Machinists. He moved to Bedford in 1980. Due to political changes in Poland and Germany, he lost track of his family, but in 1997, through the help of many friends, he located his brother who was living in the Ukraine. He was of Greek Orthodox faith. There will be graveside services for Andreas Kowal at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 29th, at Cresthaven Memory Gardens with Sister Joan Luerman officiating. There are no calling hours. Services are under the direction of the Day & Carter Mortuary. 12/23/01 Paxton – William "Bill" Paxton, Jr. died Sunday, December 23, 2001, at his residence. Born on June 29, 1926, in Lawrence County, IN, he was the son of William and Minnie (Vaughn) Paxton. Surviving are nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Betty Paxton; one brother, Robert "Buck" Paxton; one half-brother, Glenn Kinder; and one half-sister, Elsie Lorane McFarland. He was formerly a painter and was currently a watchman at Newco Metals in Bedford. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and a member of Needmore Baptist Church. Services for William Paxton will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 28th, at Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Hopkins Cemetery with graveside military rites accorded by member of American Legion Gillen Post #33. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home. 12/21/01 Cox – Nora P. Cox of Bedford, IN, died Friday, December 21, 2001, at her residence. Born on December 25, 1920, in Lawrence County, IN, she was the daughter of Eugene Keller and Goldie (Sheetz) Keller. She married Roy H. Cox on January 11, 1937, and he died on May 10, 1977. Surviving are four sons: Russell D Cox and wife Linda, Roy Richard "Dick" Cox and wife Rosemary, George Leo Cox and wife Donna, and Carl P. Cox and wife Rita; two daughters, Katherine Diane Coulter and husband Steve, and Barbara E. Smith and husband Billy, all of Bedford, IN; three brothers, Paul Keller of Linton, IN, and Gerald Keller and Morris Keller, both of Bedford, IN; one sister, Judy Hazzard of Indianapolis; sixteen grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; one daughter, Patty Cox; three brothers: Kermit, Pete, and Bill Keller; and two sisters, Ruth Byrd and Lois Hornback. She was a homemaker and attended the First Church of the Nazarene. Born on June 16, 1930, in Bedford, IN, she was the daughter of Truman and Dora Beatrice (Jaynes) Fisher. Surviving are three daughters: Kathy Corwin and Karen L. Kern of Mitchell, IN, and Leanne Eisele of Bedford, IN; one son, William (Danny) Dalton of Bedford, IN; seven grandchildren, and thirteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and several half brothers and sisters. She was a homemaker. "Pat" Terry of Mitchell, IN, died Wednesday, December 19, 2001, at Dunn Memorial Hospital. Born on December 14, 1953, in Mitchell, IN, he was the son of Lavere and Mabel (Baldwin) Terry. He married Iris Jean Walters and she preceded him in death. He then married Nadine Napier on November 19, 1983, and she survives. Surviving with his wife are two daughters, Patty Walls of Bedford, IN, and Angel May of Mitchell, IN; one son, Mike Terry of Springville, IN; one step-son, Alan Napier of Jeffersonville, IN; two brothers, Roy Terry of Bedford, IN, and Joe Terry of Mitchell, IN; two sisters, Pearl Ruth Duncan of Mitchell, IN, and Janice Sue Chastain of Bedford, IN; one brother-in-law, Arlas "Butch" Napier of Lakeland, FL; seven grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. Thomas Burton of Bloomington, IN, died Tuesday, December 18, 2001, at his residence. Born on October 7, 1930, in Mitchell, IN, he was the son of Jesse Z. and Bertha H. (Goldsmith) Burton. Surviving are three daughters: Brenda Leigh Hoshaw of Palmetto, FL, Debra Jo Burton of Bedford, IN, and Alice Ann Uhlig of Myakka, FL; two sons, Thomas J. Burton of Palmetto, FL, and William Jesse Burton of Bedford, IN; and one sister, Sara Jane Miller of Bloomington, IN; sixteen grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one sister, Doris Ownes, and one brother, Richard Joseph Burton. He was a retired engineer for the Monon and L&N Ralroad with forty years of service. He was a graduate of University High School and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Bedford. There will be a graveside service for Thomas Burton at noon on Monday, December 24th, at the Burton Cemetery with Bishop Tracy Bailey officiating. There will be no visitation. Chastain Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. 12/17/01 Asbell – Frances L. Asbell of Bedford, IN, died Monday, December 17, 2001, at Dunn Memorial Hospital. Born on August 16, 1914, in Lawrence County, IN, she was the daughter of Gordon B. and Mary Elizabeth (Quackenbush) Lee. She married Richard H. Asbell on May 4, 1935, and he died October 24, 1978. Surviving are two daughters and their husbands, Judith and John McMillen of Bedford, IN, and Julia and Hugh (Tim) Hale of St. Leonard, MD; two brothers, William Spencer Lee of Nampa, ID, and Thomas Jay Lee of Hendersonville, NC; four grandchildren: Mary Freeman of Seymour, IN, Julie Rieser of West Lafayette, IN, Richard H. McMillen of Bedford, IN, and Kate Boruff of Frederick, MD; nine great-grandchildren, and three cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband and one brother, in infancy. She had worked in the Lawrence County Auditor's Office, retiring after twenty-five years as Deputy Auditor, and was active in the Republican party. Jones of Springville, IN, died Monday, December 17, 2001, at Westview Nursing Home. Born on May 2, 1923, in Lawrence County, IN, she was the daughter of Floyd and Sarah (Wright) Flynn. She married Oscar Edward Jones on October 7, 1938, and he died January 3, 1966. Surviving are five sons: Lonnie, Rickie, Edward, and Edgar Thomas Jones, all of Springville, IN, and Jimmie Jones of Bedford, IN; four sisters: Madeline Thompson and Carole Baker, both of Bedford, IN; Betty Veatch of Bloomfield, IN, and Louise Page of Springville, IN; two brothers, Rev. Darrell (Pete) Flynn of Bedford, IN, and Robert Flynn of Hemlock, IN; eighteen grandchildren, thirty-two great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband; one grandson, Stephen Jones; one great-granddaughter, Sonya Kay Jones; two daughters-in-law, Judy (Crum) Jones and Edith K. (Connor) Jones; one sister; and three brothers, Harold, George, and Bennie Flynn. She was a homemaker and a member of Springville Trinity Pentecostal Mission. Morris of Bedford, IN, died Monday, December 17, 2001, at Dunn Memorial Hospital. Born on May 26, 1923, in Lawrence County, IN, he was the son of Lloyd A. and Mary (Curren) Morris. He married Mae Simmons on May 29, 1965, and she survives. Surviving with his wife are one son, Byron Morris of Bedford, IN; one step-son, Robert Simmons; one step-daughter, Donna Dalton of Buddha, IN; one sister, Helen Baker of Salem, IN; two brothers, Bill Morris of Bedford, IN, and John Morris of Columbus, IN; two grandsons, Asa and Aden Morris, both of Bedford; several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one sister, Mary Louise Egbert, and one brother, James R. Morris. He retired in 1978 as Major on the Bedford Police Dept. after 23 years of service and was a self-employed farmer and cattleman. He was a graduate of Shawswick High School where he was a member of the basketball team and was known by the nickname "Lightning". He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, a member of American Legion Gillen Post #33, Voiture #1192 40/8 (where he was past Chef de Gare) Fraternal Order of Police, past president of Ken Ray Lot Owners Association, and attended the Free Methodist Church. Born on August 14, 1924, in Williams, IN, she was the daughter of McOrlie and Bessie (Asbell) Fields. She married Gail S. Bowman on January 19, 1944, and he died September 10, 2001. Surviving are one daughter, Myra G. Grissom of Mitchell, IN; one son, Rick D. Bowman of Columbus, IN; and four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and one brother, LaVere Fields. She retired as deputy clerk from the Lawrence County Clerk's office with twenty years of service and was a 1941 graduate of Williams High School. She was a charter member of the Woodville Baptist Church. Services for Myra Bowman will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, December 13th, at the Woodville Baptist Church with the Rev. Mallatt – Donald Earl Mallatt of Bedford, IN, died Tuesday, December 11, 2001, at Dunn Memorial Hospital. Born on May 13, 1924, in Silverville, IN (Lawrence County), he was the son of Fern C. and Wilma (Brannon) Mallatt. He married Dorothy Spray on January 7, 1951, and she survives. Surviving with his wife are three daughters: Brenda Neff and Husband, Leonard, of Bedford, IN, Donna McBride of Jacksonville, FL, and Kristie Fleetwood and husband, Tim, of Bedford, IN; one son, Russell Mallatt of Bedord, IN; one grandson, three granddaughters, one great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one sister, Imogene Thomson, and one granddaughter, Kara Neff. He was a dairy farmer and retired in 1989. A 1942 graduate of Williams High School, he was an Air Force veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Lawrence County Farm Bureau Co-Op. Roach – Donald Eugene Roach of Springville, IN, died Tuesday, December 11, 2001, at his residence. Born on March 31, 1931, in Plainville, IN, he was the son of Elza (Joe) and Mary (Thomas) Roach. He married Barbara Nell Pershing on August 16, 1951, and she survives. Surviving with his wife are are one daughter and her husband, Dawnell and Ronnie Prince of Bedford, IN; one son and his his wife, Richard and JoEllen Roach of Bedford, IN; two brothers, Norman Roach of McCordsville, IN, and Ronnie Roach of Jonesboro, AK; two sisters, Shirley Williams of Oolitic, IN, and Judith Figg of Ellettsville, IN; three grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. He was a stonecutter at Carl Furst Stone Co. for twenty-one years and was a jaw operator at Siebolt Quarry for Rogers Group for twenty-two years, retiring in 1992. He was of the Pentecostal faith. Born on May 24, 1942, in Corbin, KY, she was the daughter of James and Christine (Bryant) Jones. She married Ronald E. Mann, Sr. on June 4, 1959, and he survives. Surviving with her husband are three sons: Ronald F. Mann, Jr. of Bloomington, IN, Duane Eddie Mann and David Mann, both of Tomball, TX; one daughter, Debarah Mann of Tomball, TX; her mother, Christine Jones of Orleans, IN; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father. She was a member of Tulip Street Christian Church. Services for Jimilea Mann will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 14th, at Chastain Funeral Home with Bro. Vaught of Mitchell, IN, died Monday, December 10, 2001, at the Bedford Regional Medical Center. Born on September 14, 1936, in Lawrence County, IN, he was the son of George and Dorothy (Burgess) Vaught. He married Sarah Jane Porter on February 8, 1967, and she survives. Surviving with his wife are one sister, Sharon Campbell of Paoli, IN; and two brothers, Harold and Howard Vaught, both of Mitchell, IN. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers: Gerald (his twin), Don, and Milton Vaught; and four sisters: Sue Vaught, June Kern, Jeralene Hopkins, and Pauline Cox. He was a retired thirty-five year employee of Crawford-Morris Lumber Company and was a ham radio operator, KA9EBA. Born on January 12, 1943, in Lawrence County, IN, he was the son of James Arnold and Violet (Meadows) Sowders. He married Joyce Andis in 1960, and she died October 25, 1971. Surviving are one daughter, Rachelle Burnette of Springville, IN; one son, Cody Sowders of Bloomington, IN; two brothers, Larry Sowders of Solsberry, IN, and Mike Sowders of Heltonville, IN; one sister, Nancy Hanks of Bedford, IN; four grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; one son, Brian Sowders; one daughter, Rhonda Reeves; and one granddaughter, Heidi Reeves. He was a stonecutter in Monroe County. "Woody" Anderson of Springville, IN, died Saturday, December 8, 2001, from injuries suffered in an automobile accident. Born on March 29, 1947, in Lawrence County, IN, he was the son of Fredrick and Amy (Metzler) Anderson. He married April Flynn in early life. Surviving are his mother, Amy Dembow of Bedford, IN; one son, Mathew of Bloomington, IN; one sister, Mrs. Frank (Ann) Holt of Bedford, IN; one niece, one nephew, and one cousin. He was a painter for Colors Decorating Co. in Indianapolis. He was a 1965 graduate of Mitchell High School and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Indianapolis Painters Union, Local #47, St. John's Episcopal Church, American Legion Post #-582 in San Fernando Valley, CA, Eagles, Stone City Aerie #654 Bedford, V.F.W. Born on February 18, 1905, she was the daughter of Ziba and Nora (Cundiff) West. She married Forrest Craig on July, 1922, and he died on July 19, 1981. Surviving are five daughters: Mrs. Merla (Wanda) Craig, Mrs. Loren (Viola) Waggoner, Mrs William (Norma) Terry, all of Williams, IN, Mrs. Anah Williams Hall and Mrs. Doris Conner, both of Bedford, IN; five sons: Lowell, Vince, Audra and Donald Craig, all of Bedford, IN; Edwin Craig of Williams, IN; one brother, Warren West of Peru, IN; two sisters, Evadna Deleany of Georgia and Nina Reagan of Key Largo, FL; twenty-nine grandchildren, fifty-eight great-grandchildren; and thirty-two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, Victor Lantz Craig in infancy; twelve brothers and sisters. She was a homemaker and a cook for Indian Creek Camp and School. She was a member of the Silverville Baptist Church for 63 years, where she taught Sunday school for twenty-five years, and was president of the Women's Missionary Society. She was a member of Williams Home Demonstration Club and was Lawrence County Mother of the Year in 1966. George – Helen Pauline George of Mitchell, IN, died Saturday, December 8, 2001, at Mitchell Manor Living and Rehab Center. Born on August 22, 1922, in Mitchell, IN, she was the daughter of Joseph Benjamin and Rosa Bell (Lynch) Jones. She married Bennie George in October 1938, and he died in March 1980. Surviving are one daughter, Peggy Busick of Mitchell, IN; one brother, John Paul Jones of Orleans, IN; one sister, Louise Brewer of Las Vegas, NV; nine grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her husband; two sons, Joseph and Franklin George; one daughter, Rosemary Slaten; two sisters, Mary Andis and Ava Pruett; two brothers, Ralph and Raymond Jones; and one great-granddaughter, Rosemary Emily Griffin. She was a former employee of Roberts Brass. Services for Helen George will be at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 11th, at the Chastain Funeral Home with Pastor Daniel Jones officiating. Mason of Bedford, IN, died Saturday, December 8, 2001, at his residence. Born on December 4, 1945, he was the son of Frank and Bertha (Cain) Mason. He married Judith Baker on August 16, 1969, and she survives. Surviving are his wife; three sons: Kyle, Kent, and Kris Mason, all of Bedford, IN; one grandson Kyler Mason; two brothers, James and Leroy Mason, both of Bedford, IN; three sisters: Mildred King, Carolyn Butler, and Brenda Bundy, all of Bedford, IN; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Betty Goodman and Beulah Banta; two brothers, Richard Mason and Billy Mason. He was employed by Victor Oolitic Stone Company, was a 1964 graduate of Shawswick High School, and a U.S. Army veteran. He attended Grace Full Gospel Church. In lieu of flowers the family ask friends to consider contributions to the Grace Full Gospel Church Building Fund. 12/03/01 Chastain – Carl Chastain of Mitchell, IN, died Monday, December 3, 2001, at White River Lodge. Born on December 25, 1903, at Fishing Creek, IN, he was the son of Benjamin Frank and Martha E. (Price) Chastain. He married Ruth E. Lee on October 4, 1925, and she died May 15, 1978. He married Marguerite Conkey Stroud on August 1, 1979, and she died February 17, 1997. Surviving are one step-daughter, Virginia Canada of Loogootee, IN; three sisters: Mary E. Slaughter of Leipsic, IN, Lela Wood of Bedford, IN, and Rosa Nell Wood of Mitchell, IN; several step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by a half-brother, Glen Chastain; three brothers: Herman, Herschel, and Clarence (in infancy) Chastain; and one sister, Blanche Ingram. He was employed 45 years at Lehigh Portland Cement Company and retired in 1978 as storekeeper. He was the last member of the Mitchell High School Class of 1921, graduated from Central Business College in Indianapolis, and received a teaching certificate from Central Normal College in Danville. He was a member of the First Christian Church, transferring from Fishing Creek Christian Church. Born on December 1, 1935, in Bedford, IN, he was the son of Harold and Edna (Henson) Peyton. He married Margaret Ann Lindsey on July 26, 1975, and she survives. Surviving with his wife are five daughters: Ronda Peyton of Bedford, IN, Stephanie Peyton of Indianapolis, Joni Hargesheimer, Tammy Sebastian and husband Jim, Jerri Baker and husband Glen, all of Mitchell, IN; step-mother, Eloise Peyton of Anderson, IN; one sister, Linda Clear of Washington; one brother, Norman Peyton of Anderson, IN; three half-brothers: Jerry Henson and Jim Henson, both of Bedford, IN, and Rick Henson of Bloomington, IN; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a twin brother, Don; and a sister, Norma Puier. He was a retired employee of GM Powertrain and a U.S. Navy veteran. He was a member of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local #16, a former board member of Hoosier Hills Credit Union and had served on the board of South Lawrence Utilities. Short of Bedford, IN, died Friday, November 30, 2001, at her residence. Born on October 3, 1927, in Mitchell, IN, she was the daughter of Otto and Bernice (Bundy) Browning. She married Roy E. Short on February 8, 1947, and he survives. Surviving with her husband are one daughter, Sandy Landreth of Bedford, IN; one son, Brett Short of Bedford, IN; one grandson, two granddaughters, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Betty Brewer and Rosemary Chapman; and one brother, Jimmy Browning. She was a homemaker and a 1945 graduate of Mitchell High School. She was a member of the Englewood Baptist Church. Services for Marjorie Short will be at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 4th, at Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home with Pastor David Ferry officiating.
