Nichols – Amelia Nichols of Bedford, IN, died Thursday, June 29, 2000, at Bedford Regional Medical Center. Born on May 28, 1927, in Lawrence County, IN, she was the daughter of Earl J. and Mary E. (Jerrels) Sears. She married Herman C. "Whitey" Nichols on June 8, 1968, and he survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Tami E. Davis of Bedford, IN, and Alaina S. Mercier of Ogden, UT; one son, Michael Diehl of Houston, TX; one brother, Clifford Sears; and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Joyce Ann Sears; and three brothers: Everett, Roy, and Clayton Sears.
She was a homemaker and a 1947 graduate of Oolitic High School. She was of Protestant faith.

Gibbons – LaVerne "Pete" Gibbons of Bedford, IN, died Wednesday, June 28, 2000, at his residence. Born on August 19, 1923, in Washington County, IN, he was the son of Merle and Edith (Shields) Gibbons. He married Martha Colglazier on April 14, 1945, and she survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Nancy Piper of Bedford, IIN, and Barbara Coursey of Springville, IN; six grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
He was a cattle farmer and an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 21 F&AM, Salem.
Services for LaVerne Gibbons will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, June 30th, at Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home with Bro. Josh Bromfield officiating. Burial will follow in Crown Hill Cemetery in Salem. Flynn – Vida Marie Flynn of Springville, IN, died Tuesday, June 27, 2000, at Bedford Regional Medical Center. Born on May 30, 1926, in Martin County, IN, she was the daughter of Winfred Wayne and Vida Mary Jane (Cornwall) Bridges. She married George Flynn on January 31, 1942, and he died December 2, 1986.
Surviving are three daughters: Gloria Phillips and Janice Banks, both of Springville, IN, and Cherlyn Schneider of Youngstown, OH; two sons, Anthony Flynn of Williams, IN, and Lowell Flynn of Bedford, IN; two brothers, Ralph Bridges of Norman, IN, and Don Bridges of Mitchell, IN; two sisters, Sherry Peck and Elizabeth Burgess, both of Bedford, IN; twenty-one grandchildren, thirty-seven great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, Gary Flynn; one grandson, Rocky Saunders; two brothers, Albert Ray & Winfred Wayne Bridges Jr.
She was a homemaker and member of Living Word Church.

McCart – William Leon "Bill" McCart of Orleans, IN, formerly of Mitchell, IN, and Port Charlotte, FL, died Tuesday, June 27, 2000, at Vencor Hospital in Greenwood. Born on November 12, 1927, in Mitchell, IN, he was the son of Perry and Emma (York) McCart. He married Anna M. Taflinger on April 15, 1949, and she survives.
Also surviving are one son, William Christopher McCart of Orleans, IN; one daughter, Cynthia Lynn McCart of Cape Coral, FL; three sisters: Bonnie Allen of Gulfport, FL, Mary Ruth Dyer of Seymour, IN, and Olive Eager of Mitchell, IN; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters: Katherine Wright, Jewell Zimmerman, Fern Wicker, and Anna Louise Eggers; and three brothers: Chriss, Otha, and Lowell McCart.
He was a mason and former owner of McCart's Swimming Pools, Seawalls, and Docks in Port Charlotte, FL. He and his wife had previously owned and operated an apartment building in Orleans, IN. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and received the Victory, American Area, and Asiatic-Pacific ribbons. He organized the White River Bow Hunters, served as a Boy Scout leader, and was a member of the American Legion Post #61 in Shoals. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Presbyterian Church in Port Charlotte, where he sang in the choir.
Services for William McCart will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, June 30th, at the Chastain Funeral Home with the Rev. Mike Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Mitchell Cemetery with military rites accorded by Cecil C. Martin American Legion Post #250 and Marvin R. Davis Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #9107. Sullivan – Everett W. Sullivan, Jr. was stillborn Tuesday, June 27, 2000, at Dunn Memorial Hospital. His parents are Everett and Cheryl (Chastain) Sullivan of Bedford, IN.
Surviving with the parents are two brothers, Michael and Everette Hallatt, both at home; one sister, Elizabeth Arnold of Ft. Bragg, NC; the maternal grandparents, Frank Chastain and Pearl Adams of Bedford, IN; and the paternal grandparents, John Sullivan and Hazel Gerkin of Bedford, IN.
There will be a private graveside service at Hilltop Cemetery for Everett W. Sullivan, with the Rev. Dirus Dustin officiating. There will be no public visitation. Arrangements are under the direction of the Day & Carter Mortuary.

Ramey – Jamie Leigh Ramey of Bloomington, IN, formerly of Mitchell, IN, was fatally injured in a motorcycle accident Friday, June 23, 2000, in Bloomington. Born on May 10, 1949, in Lawrence County, IN, she was the daughter of William H. "Bud" and Dorothy (Cummings) Chastain. She was first married to Danny Terrell. On February 14, 1987, she married Scott Ramey, and he survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Reni Tarr of Mitchell, IN; two sons, Dan Terrell of Mitchell, IN, and Micah Terrell of Bedford, IN; her father, William H. Chastain of Englewood, FL; three sisters, Pamela Moore and Rita Chastain, both of Mitchell, IN, and Cindy Garceau of Williams, IN; and three granddaughters. She was preceded in death by her mother.
She was a 1967 graduate of Mitchell High School.

Thompson – Vangie Mary Thompson of Springville, IN, died Friday, June 23, 2000, at Dunn Memorial Hospital. Born on August 3, 1902, in Wayne County, KY, she was the daughter of John and Melinda (Black) Neely. She married Rathmiel Thompson on September 4, 1919, and he died September 3, 1995.
Surviving are five sons: Hobert and Don Thompson, both of Springville, IN, Delmar Thompson of Owensburg, IN, Dallas Thompson of Monroe County, IN, and Charles Thompson of Switz City, IN; three daughters: Pauline Coursey, Martha Phillips, and Jeanna Bosell, all of Springville, IN; twenty-eight grandchildren, sixty great-grandchildren, and forty-four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three sons, Roy, Paul Junior, and Freddy Thompson; seven brothers, three sisters, two grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Oak Grove Pentecostal Church.

Williams – Melvin Eugene Williams of Bedford, IN, died Friday, June 23, 2000, at his residence. Born on August 27, 1916, in Lawrence County, IN, he was the son of Henry and Bertha (Flinn) Williams. He married Katherine Flinn on February 24, 1940, and she survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Kenneth Max Williams and Ronald Williams, both of Bedford, IN; one sister, Olive Horner of Salem, IN; six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters: Opal Horner and Ruby Brewer; and one brother, Clint Williams.
He retired from Central Foundry (GMC) in 1976 after 29 years of service. He was a member of U.A.W. Local #440 and the Apostolic Faith Assembly.

Eppard – Jeanette M. Eppard of Bedford, IN, died Thursday, June 22, 2000, at Vencor Hospital in Greenwood. Born on April 23, 1920, in Monroe County, IN, she was the daughter of Charles E. and Margaret (Bastin) Allen. She married Clyde R. Eppard on April 30, 1941, and he survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Beverly Oliver of Bedford, IN, and Pamela Jackson of Bloomington, IN; one son, Richard Terry Eppard of Columbus, IN; one brothers, Herbert Allen of Bloomington, IN; nine grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one sister, Evelyn Allen; one brother, Sylvester Allen; and three grandchildren.
She was an expediter at Sarkes-Tarzian Inc. and a member of First Christian Church in Bloomington and Omega Phi Tau sorority.

Gaines – Huston E. Gaines of Bedford, IN, died Thursday, June 22, 2000, at White River Lodge. Born on April 7, 1916, in Lawrence County, IN, he was the son of Edward and Lottie (Phyman) Gaines. He married Helen Jackson on February 1, 1947, and she died in December, 1987.
Surviving are one sister, Helen Easton of Logansport, IN; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three sisters: Leona Smith, Ruth Gaines, and Gertrude Fountain; and two brothers, Opal and Roy Gaines.
He was a truck driver for Mitchell Crushed Stone, retiring in 1980. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII, serving with Battery 989th Field Artillery Battalion. He was a member of Oolitic Baptist Church, Bedford Senior Citizens Club, and American Legion Gillen Post #33.

Lemon – June Lemon of Apopka, FL, formerly of Bedford, IN, died Thursday, June 22, 2000, in Florida. Born on January 20, 1927, in Heltonville, IN, she was the daughter of Charles and Mabel (Breedlove) Lane. She married Claude "Buck" Lemon.
Surviving are one daughter, Claudia Cook of Longwood, FL; one son, Charles Lemon of Apopka, FL; and two grandchildren.

Banks – Harry M. Banks of Springville, IN, died Wednesday, June 21, 2000, at the Hospitality House. Born on June 19, 1924, in Lawrence County, IN, he was the son of Avery and Iva (Walker) Banks. He married Elsie Godsey on November 30, 1942, and she survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Kenny and Larry Banks, both of Springville, IN; one sister, Phyllis Andis of Springville, IN; three brothers: James Banks of Mitchell, IN, Robert Banks of Bloomington, IN, and Claude Banks of Springville, IN; eight grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Ruth Ann Phillips; one sister, Maude Banks; and one brother, Alva Banks.
He worked at NWSC Crane and was a farmer. He was a veteran of WW II, serving with the U.S. Army. He was member of Fayetteville House of Prayer Church.

Curren – Thomas Curren of Mitchell, IN, died Wednesday, June 21, 2000, at Bedford Regional Medical Center. Born on September 24, 1938, in Lawrence County, IN, he was the son of John and Florence Mae (Easton) Curren. He married Susan Darlene Brown on January 29, 1960, and she survives.
Also surviving are one son, Rodney Lee Curren of Mitchell, IN; four sisters: Frances Wilson, Colleen Smith, and Jane Atchison, all of Bedford, IN, and Maxine Scherschel of Mitchell, IN; three brothers: John and Everett Curren, both of Bedford, and Robert Curren of Cape Coral, FL; and one grandson. He was preceded in death by his parents.
He was a retired employee of Thomson Consumer Electronics and was a farmer. He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, and Stone City Sams Chapter 66 Camping Club.
Services for Thomas Curren will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 24th, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church with the Rev. Bernie Cox officiating. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Curtis – Ruth H. Curtis of Mitchell, IN, died Wednesday, June 21, 2000, at her residence. Born on July 2, 1925, in Mitchell, IN, she was the daughter of Lewis and Audna Wires. She married Kenneth Curtis and he died December 26, 1993.
Surviving are one brother, William Wires of Port Richey, FL. She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.
She was a beautician and had been employed as a bookkeeper at Patton Motors in Orleans. She was a 1943 graduate of Mitchell High School, a member of Cecil C. Martin American Legion Post #250 Auxiliary, and Order of Eastern Star #503. In 1966 she was the first woman to chair the Persimmon Festival.
The body was cremated. There will be no service or visitation. Chastain Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Frazier – Peyton P. Frazier of Oolitic, IN, died Wednesday, June 21, 2000, at her residence. Born on July 9, 1998, in Bedford, IN, she was the daughter of Tom Frazier of Buddha and Yvette Hays of Oolitic.
Surviving are her parents; one half-brother, Andrew R. Hays-Allen of Bloomington, IN; two half-sisters, Whitney E. Frazier of Clay County, IN, and Jordon D. Frazier of Bedford, IN; the paternal grandparents, George and Wilma Frazier of Bedford, IN; the maternal grandparents, Fred and Leah Hays of Bloomington, IN and Suzie Hays of Indianapolis; the paternal great-grandparents, Reece and Lina Frazier of Kentucky; the maternal great-grandparents, Phillips and Juanita Hedrick of Bloomington; and several uncles, aunts, and cousins.
There will be a graveside service for Peyton Frazier at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, June 24th, at Clear Creek Cemetery in Bloomington. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until noon Saturday at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
Phillips – Winfred R. Phillips of Bedford, IN, died Wednesday, June 21, 2000, at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. Born on October 12, 1920, in Lawrence County, IN, he was the son of Fess and Leah (Hoopengarner) Phillips. He married Laura Albertson on August 16, 1941, in Mitchell, IN, and she survives.
Also surviving are one son, David Phillips of Bedford, IN; two daughters, Patricia Arthur and Connie Probasco, both of Bedford, IN; one brother, the Rev. Robert Phillips of Bedford, IN; one sister, Betty Horner of Clayton, IN; nine grandchildren, and fifteen great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Bruce and Roy.
He formerly operated a well driller and retired from the East Lawrence Water Corporation. He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the Sea Bees, and member of the Masonic Lodge and White River Baptist Church.

Quigley – David Rocker Quigley of San Leandro, CA, formerly of Mitchell, IN, died Wednesday, June 21, 2000, in Castro Valley, CA. Born on March 9, 1939, in Mitchell, IN, he was the son of Rocker and Margaret (Beaver) Quigley.
Surviving are two sons, David Quigley of Sacramento, CA, and Steven Quigley of Castro Valley, CA; his mother, Margaret Quigley of Antioch, CA; and one brother, George Quigley of San Leandro, CA. He was preceded in death by his father.
He was a retired truck driver and a graduate of Richmond Union High School in Richmond, CA.
There will be a private family service for David Quigley at Mitchell Cemetery under the direction of the Chastain Funeral Home.

Brinegar – Nancy J. (Nannie) Brinegar of Bedford, IN, died Sunday, June 18, 2000, at the Hospitality House. Born on December 10, 1914, in Kentucky, she was the daughter of Edward and Laura (Sasser) Cobb. She married Emery Brinegar on February 8, 1935, and he died on September 1, 1993.
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Robert (Bonnie) Stalker of Bedford, IN; one brother, Doyle Cobb of Bedford, IN; three sisters: Phyllis Kirk and Myrtle Matuszewski, both of Bedford, IN, and Helen Thompson of California; one granddaughter, Mrs. David (Bobbi) Houpt of Bedford, IN; two great-grandsons, Ryan and Darren Houpt, both of Bedford, IN; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by five brothers: Ernest, Emery, Ray, Everett, and Earl Cobb.
She had worked at RCA in Bloomington and owned Nan's Charm Shop in Bedford. She was a member of First Baptist Church, where she had been a Sunday school teacher and missionary worker for twenty-five years. She was also a member of American Business Women's Association and a past member of Phi Beta Psi Sorority.

Green – Thomas Ray Green of Mitchell, IN, died Sunday, June 18, 2000, at his residence. Born on November 29, 1943, in Lawrenceport, IN, he was the son of Leon and Rubie (Ray) Green. He married Rachel Sue Fields on November 25, 1967, and she survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Tomi Carroll of Goshen, IN, and Jennifer Fountain of Zelma, IN; his mother, Rubie Green of Mitchell, IN; one brother, Jim Green of Mitchell, IN; and two sisters, Peggy Bundy of Salem, IN, and Sheila Flinn of Bedford, IN; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Leon Green on July 1, 1989.
He retired from the Mitchell Police Department with twenty-two years of service and for the past eight years has served as Lawrence County Highway Superintendent. He was a member of the Mitchell City Council from 1996-1999 and a member of the Indiana Association of Highway Supervisors and Engineers. He was a member of the Jacob Finger United Methodist Church, Spring Mill Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #172, Mitchell Masonic Lodge #228 F&AM, Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis, Murat Temple, La-Or-Ma Shrine Club, and Cecil C. Martin American Legion Post #250.
Services for Thomas Green will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 21st, at Jacob Finger United Methodist Church with the Revs. Jack Shake and John Wisley officiating. Burial will follow in Lawrenceport Cemetery with military rites accorded by the Cecil C. Martin American Legion Post #250 and Marvin R. Davis Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #9107. Boshears – Margie K. Boshears of Bedford, IN, died Friday, June 16, 2000, at Hospitality House. Born on April 19, 1922, in Bedford, IN, she was the daughter of Arthur and Gladys (Crockett) Keller. She married Edward E. Boshears on January 5, 1952, and he survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, June Armstrong of Bedford, IN; one brother, David Keller of Bedford, IN; one sister, Marian Deckard of Bedford, IN; three grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one sister, Virginia Clark.
She had worked as a nurse's aid at Sunny Acres Nursing Home, Indiana Training Institute, and Dunn Memorial Hospital and was a retired cook at Epie's Restaurant. She was a member of the Free Methodist Church.

Inman – Roger Ray Inman of Bedford, IN, died Friday, June 16, 2000, at Bloomington Hospital. Born on February 2, 1942, in Bedford, IN, he was the son of Richard and Viola (Easton) Inman. He married Catherine Lee Williams on November 3, 1979, in Avoca, IN, and she survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Kim Nelson of Avoca, IN, and Stephanie Grissom of Oolitic, IN; one son, Tim Inman of Bedford, IN; one step-son, Greg Inman of Solsberry, IN; one sister, Marge Garland of Bedford, IN; two brothers, Jack Inman of Oscoda, MI, and James Inman of Bedford, IN; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, one brother, and one daughter.
He retired from the Monroe County Sheriff's Department as a jailer in 1996 and was a member of the Bedford Moose Lodge and Bedford Eagles Club 654.

Stotts – Clotha "Fern" Stotts of Bedford, IN, died Thursday, June 15, 2000, at her residence. Born on November 21, 1923, in Lawrence County, IN, she was the daughter of George and Myrtle (Stephenson) Casada. She married John Franklin Stotts on August 26, 1940, and he died November 24, 1944.
Surviving are one son, Cecil Eugene Stotts of Bedford, IN; onesister, Lucille Tash of Muncie, IN; one brother, Cloyd Casada of Muncie, IN; three grandchildren: John Stotts of Bedford, IN, Troy Stotts of Williams, IN, and Donna Phillips of Springville, IN; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brother; three sisters; one son, Michael Frank Stotts in 1995; one daughter-in-law, Bonnie Stotts in 1997; one granddaughter, Michelle Dian Stotts in 1982.

Barnard – Margaret T. Barnard of Mitchell, IN, died Wednesday, June 14, 2000, at Dunn Memorial Hospital. Born on July 28, 1917, in Chaplin, KY, she was the daughter of William J. and Dora M. (Carey) Terrell. She married Oren Lough. She next married John H. Barnard in 1972, and he died on November 22, 1970.
Surviving are two sisters, Christine Thomas of Mitchell, IN, and Katherine Fricke of Escondido, CA. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Sharon Lough, four brothers, and four sisters.
She had been a secretary and bookkeeper for the State of Indiana and was a member of Roberts Park Methodist Church in Indianapolis.

Beavers – Bobby Joe Beavers of Bedford, IN, died Wednesday, June 14, 2000, at his residence. Born on March 17, 1940, he was the son of Edward and Frieda (Wooldridge) Beavers. He married Anita Kern, and she survives.
Also surviving are one step-son, Daniel Ingram of Springville, IN; one step-daughter, Lori Jo Young of Mount Pleasant, MI; one niece and two nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Marilyn Sargent; and one step-grandson.
He was a retired self-employed painting contractor and was a Korean War Army veteran. He was affiliated with Mundell Christian Church and a member of the East Oolitic Community Church, the American Legion and 40&8.

Dustin – Irene Hardman Dustin of Bedford, IN, died Wednesday, June 14, 2000, at Mitchell Manor Loving and Rehab Center. Born on May 10, 1914, in Edmonson County, KY, she was the daughter of Simon and Liva (Basham) Parsley. She married Kenneth Hardman on June 11, 1933, and he died August 21, 1942. She married Lee Dustin in August, 1948, and he died January 17, 1985.
Surviving are five daughters: Judith Ann Steininger of Colorado Springs, CO, Martha Jean Freels of Evansville, IN, Joy Caudell Storey of Gas City, IN, Kennetha Jo Miller of Mitchell, IN, and Lee Etta Dustin Mitchell of Nashville, IN; one son, Dirus Lynn Dustin of Bedford, IN; eighteen grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one sister, Jean Ratcliffe.
She was a 1933 graduate of Mitchell High School and Vincennes University. She was a registered nurse and a member of the First Wesleyan Church in Bedford.

Kane – Peter J. Kane of Mitchell, IN, formerly of Oldsmar, FL, died Wednesday, June 14, 2000, at his residence. Born on November 22, 1965, in Ohio, he was the son of William and Patricia (Fogarty) Kane. He married Tresa (Sanders) Davis on July 6, 1995, and she survives.
Also surviving are his parents, William and Patricia Kane of Oldsmar, FL; two step-sons, John Davis and D.J. Davis, both of Mitchell, IN; two brothers, John Kane and William Kane, both of Oldsmar, FL; and three sisters: Carol Kane, Ellen Kane, and Amy Kane, all of Florida.
He was employed at Lehigh Portland Cement Company and was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran. He was a member of the Mitchell First Church of God.

Allen – John D. Allen of Indianapolis, formerly of Bedford, IN, died Monday, June 12, 2000, at Beverly Nursing Home in Indianapolis. Born on January 1, 1950, in Bedford, IN, he was the son of Harold "Jack" and Madeline (George) Allen.
Surviving are his mother of Bedford; two brothers, Darrell E. Allen of Pendleton, IN, and Robert Allen of Bedford, IN; and two sisters, Wanda Hostetter of Heltonville and Connie Parkes of Bedford, IN; He was preceded in death by his father and three brothers: Harold, Larry, and William Allen.
He was a self-employed mechanic and was of Pentecostal faith.

Martin – Bobby G. Martin of Springville, IN, died Monday, June 12, 2000, in an accident at the B.G. Hoadley Stone Quarry in Bloomington. Born on September 13, 1951, in Wayne County, KY, he was the son of Dillard and Ruby (Tucker) Martin. He married Carolyn Thompson on April 27, 1985, and she survives.
Also surviving are three sons: Chad Marton of Spencer, IN, Nathan Martin of the U.S. Marine Corps stationed in San Diego, CA, and Jared Martin of Springville, IN; his father and step-mother, Dillard and Betty Martin of Monticello, KY; two sisters, Magdalene Shelton and Maxine Dick, both of Monticello, KY; three step-sisters: Mary Brewer of Bedford, IN, Bernice Voorhies of Orleans, IN, and Darlene Dick of Monticello, KY; five step-brothers: Roy and Gary Godsey, both of Oolitic, IN, Boyd Godsey of Bedford, IN, Lloyd Godsey of Springville, IN, and Michael Upchurch of Monticello, KY. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ruby Martin, and a step-mother, Mossie (Godsey) Martin.

Fountain – Emogene Fountain of Norman, IN, died Sunday, June 11, 2000, at Bloomington Hospital. Born on September 16, 1931, in Heltonville, IN, she was the daughter of Leonard and Bernice (Croucher) Brim. She married Ervin Fountain on June 27, 1949, and he died on April 9, 2000.
Surviving are three sons: Steve Fountain of Bedford, IN, James Fountain of Wheatland, IN, and Dwayne Fountain of Norman, IN; three brothers: Harold and Phillip Brim, both of Bedford, IN, and Robert Brim of Heltonville, IN; two half-brothers, Ervin Brim and Perry Croucher, both of Florida; two sisters, Mable Bryant of Florida and Willabelle Hunter of Norman, IN; and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Joe Fountain; one brother, Carl Brim; one half-sister, Mary Frances Shankland; and one half brother Onis Brim;
She was a homemaker and a member of the Heltonville Methodist Church.

Haley – Infant Madison Reid Haley died Sunday, June 11, 2000, at James Whitcomb Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis. Born May 15, 2000, in Indianapolis, she was the daughter of Randy and Heidi (Shoults) Haley.
Surviving are her parents, Randy and Heidi Haley of Mitchell, IN; one half-sister, Angel Haley of Paoli, IN; her maternal grandparents, Leroy and Rebecca Shoults of Mitchell, IN; her paternal grandparents, Bob and Ramona Busick of Paoli, IN; and her maternal great-grandmother, Pauline Shoults of Campbellsburg, IN.

Henderson – Lloyd Dale Henderson of Odessa, TX, formerly of Mitchell, IN, died Sunday, June 11, 2000, at his residence. Born on March 6, 1953, in Lawrence County, IN, he was the son of Hamel and Dorothy (Wagner) Henderson.
Surviving are two daughters, Twana Henderson of New Albany, IN, and Naomi Craven of Salem, IN; four brothers: Jerry Henderson of Bedford, IN, Wayne and Raymond Henderson, both of Orleans, IN, and Doyle Henderson of Odessa, TX; two sisters, Brenda Diehl and Linda Dunn, both of Mitchell, IN; and three grandsons. He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers: Thomas, Lester, and Allen Henderson, and Frank Gray.
He was a sales representative for Tom's Sales and was recently named Odessa Boys' and Girls' Club Volunteer of the Year for 2000. He was a graduate of Mitchell High School and was of the Baptist faith.

Edmonson – Betty L. Edmonson of Mitchell, IN, died Saturday, June 10, 2000, at Dunn Memorial Hospital. Born on April 20, 1927, in Orange County, IN, she was the daughter of Paul and Ida Mae (Moffitt) Russell. She married Phillip Edmonson, and he survives.
Also surviving are three sons: Duane Edmonson and Jeffrey Edmonson, both of Mitchell, IN, and Anthony Edmonson of Morganton, NC; two brothers, William Russell of Loogootee, IN, and Gene Russell of Mitchell, IN; three sisters: Ruth Burlington of Orleans, IN, Mae Taylor of Charlestown, IN, and Catherine Compton of Gary, IN; seven grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Roy and Manson Russell.
She was a homemaker and a member of the First Church of God.

Spicer – Delbert Spicer of Bedford, IN, died Saturday, June 10, 2000, at Dunn Memorial Hospital. Born on May 2, 1935, in War Creek, KY, he was the son of Green and Cappie (Spicer) Spicer. He married Cheryl Smith, and she survives.
Also surviving are four sisters: Sarah Wyatt of Fayettevile, IN, Nannnie Tharp of Shoals, IN, Eliza Waggoner of Bryantsville, IN, and Effie Smith of Mitchell, IN; four brothers: Green Spicer, Jr. of Mitchell, IN, Lonnie Spicer of Palmyra, IN, Asberry Spicer of Mississippi, and Raymond Cecil Spicer of Bedford, IN. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers: Jesse, Homer, and Ollie James Spicer.
He was a retired truck driver for the Lawrence County Highway Department and was of Baptist faith.

Walton – Evelyn R. Walton of Lawrenceburg, KY, formerly of Mitchell, IN, died Friday, June 9, 2000, at Heritage Nursing Home in Lawrenceburg. Born on August 30, 1905, in Tell City, IN, she was the daughter of Otho and Elizabeth (Fuchs) Roehm. She married Bert V. Walton on June 12,, 1924, and he died on December 28, 1986.
Surviving are one sister, Naomi R. Black of Lawrenceburg, KY; and two nephews, Dr. Calvin R. Harding, Jr. of Louisville, KY, and Douglas C. Black of Lawrenceburg, KY. She was preceded in death by one sister, Marguerite R. Harding.
She and her husband owned and operated Walton's Grocery for over 50 years, retiring in 1980. She was a member of Jacob Finger United Methodist Church.

Denniston – Gladys May Denniston of Bedford, IN, died Thursday, June 8, 2000, at the Bedford Regional Medical Center. Born on February 6, 1914, in Lawrence County, IN, she was the daughter of Homer and Mary G. (Turney) Pierce. She married Noble Maurice Bowers. She then married William M. Denniston, and he died January 3, 1974.
Surviving are two grandsons, William Briant and Brent B. Bowers, both of California; and one great-grandson, Cody Bowers of California; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by one son, Robert Bowers, and one brother.
She retired from M. Fine & Sons and had also worked at Travelers in Orleans and at Central Foundry (GM). She was a 1933 graduate of Bedford High School and was a member of the First Baptist Church, AARP, Charter member of Pink Ladies Volunteers of Dunn Hospital.

Born on February 8, 1915, in Lawrence County, IN, he was the son of Everett and Elizabeth (Walters) Bunch. He married Viola Roberts on November 20, 1937, and she died July 10, 1998.
Surviving are one daughter, Viola (Vicky) Bunch of Bedford, IN; one sister, Della Mae Cummings of Bedford, IN; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Bernice Harrell and Almetta Jones; one son, Michael Bunch; and one daughter, Diane Bunch.
He was a retired self-employed home builder. He was a member of the Faith Mission Church, the A.A.R.P., and the Homebuilders Association of Columbus, IN.

Bruce – Wendell Bruce of Columbus, IN, formerly of Ft. Wayne, IN, died Tuesday, June 6, 2000, at Columbus Regional Hospital. Born on February 3, 1921, in Bedford, IN, he was the son of Elgan and Amanda (Vaught) Bruce. He married Mary F. Williams on January 27, 1946, and she survives.
Also surviving are one son, Steven Bruce of Brown County, IN; two daughters, Linda Bauch of Ligonier, IN, and Debra Joyce of Whiteland, IN; one sister, Ruth Ingram of Bedford, IN; two grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Jim and Bob Bruce.
He was a brick mason of Thorleif-Larsen & Son in Ft. Wayne, retiring in 1975. He was a 1938 graduate of Bedford High School and was a 1st Lieutenant stationed in Belgium and serving as a pilot in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a member of the Allen County Church of Christ in New Haven, IN, and the Brick Layers Union Local #4 in Ft. Wayne.

She was a medical secretary at Bedford Regional Medical Center and attended the Oolitic Pentecostal Church.

Michalski – Frank Joseph Michalski of Mitchell, IN, died June 4, 2000, at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. Born on January 9, 1923, he was the son of Julius and Josephine (Winkowski) Michalski. He married Gretchen Terry, and she died on January 4, 1996.
Surviving are two sisters, Dorothy Mark and Arlene Starz, both of Milwaukee, WI.
He was a World War II Army veteran and was of Catholic faith.
There will be a graveside service for Frank Michalski at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, June 22nd, at Mitchell Cemetery with Pastors Ronnie McLain and Larry Alvey officiating. McCutcheon – John W. McCutcheon of Bloomington, IN, formerly of Bedford, IN, died Saturday, June 3, 2000, at his residence. Born on January 26, 1920, in West Baden, IN, he was the son of Claude and Mary (Jung) McCutcheon. He married Roberta Redman on August 15, 1943, and she died May 7, 1988.
Surviving are one daughter, Pam Hackney of Pensacola, FL; eight grandchildren; four step-grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by five brothers, one sister, and one daughter, Karen Prewitt in 1981.
He was a manager of the Greystone Hotel and later managed the Indiana Theater in Bedford. He was a veteran of WW II serving with the U.S. Army Air Corps and was a member of the Bloomington American Legion Post #18. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Bedford.

Freemen – Roy E. Freeman of Mitchell, IN, died Friday, June 2, 2000, at his residence. Born on September 5, 1921, in Williams, IN, he was the son of Ellis E. and Mary E. (Chapman) Freeman. He married Wilma Jean George, and she survives.

He was retired from Crane Naval Surface Warfare Center and Funks Seed Co. He had served on the Lawrence County Alcohol Beverage Board. An Army veteran of World War II, he was a member of the American Legion Gillen Post 33. He was a member of the Bryantsville Church of Christ.

Also surviving are three sons: Larry Lake and Vic Pierce, both of Fayetteville, IN, and Danny Pierce of Avoca, IN; two daughters, Elaine Shelton of Seymour, IN, and Carolyn Shackleford of Fayetteville, IN; nine grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by five brothers; Tom, Morgan, Charlie, Oba and Hershel Pierce; and seven sisters: Hattie Turner, Laura Warner, Stella Duncan, Eva Webb, Violet Fields, Lottie Pierce, and Nellie Spray.
He was a self-employed construction worker and a retired farmer. He attended Fayetteville Baptist Church.
Services for Edward Pierce will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 5th, at the Day & Carter Mortuary with the Rev. Merla Craig officiating. Burial will follow in the Fayetteville Church of Christ Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Sunday at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
