May to co-chair local government taskforce, serve on summer study committee

State Rep. Chris May

STATEHOUSE (Aug. 11, 2023) State Rep. Chris May (R-Bedford) recently received appointments to serve as co-chair of the Local Government Public Notice Task Force and as a member of the Interim Study Committee on Government.

To prepare for the next legislative session, which kicks off in January, state legislators serve on interim committees throughout the summer and fall to examine policy issues, gather public input and recommend potential legislation.

"Indiana's continued success requires a strong partnership between local governments and the state," said May, who also serves as the chair of the House Local Government Committee. "I'll keep looking for ways to strengthen ties between officials to help improve government services at all levels."

Members of the public are welcome to attend and testify at committee hearings, which typically occur at the Statehouse in Indianapolis. Hearings are also livestreamed and archived online at iga.in.gov, where committee calendars and meeting agendas are posted.
