Indianapolis, IN - September 3, 2024—The Office of the Indiana State Treasurer is pleased to announce that the Indiana Education Scholarship Account (ESA) Program has achieved full enrollment for the 2024-2025 academic year. This marks a significant accomplishment in Indiana’s ongoing commitment to providing families with the resources necessary to tailor educational experiences that best meet their children's needs.
The Indiana ESA Program offers eligible families state-funded accounts that can be used for a variety of educational expenses including tuition, tutoring, therapies, and other approved services. These accounts have empowered hundreds of families across Indiana to take an active role in shaping their children’s educational journeys, especially those with disabilities or specialized educational needs.
“We are thrilled to announce that every dollar allocated to the Indiana ESA Program has been distributed, ensuring that families have the resources they need to provide their children with the best possible education,” said Indiana State Treasurer Daniel Elliott. “This program is a testament to Indiana’s dedication to supporting diverse educational opportunities and fostering an environment where every child can thrive.”
By providing direct financial support, the Indiana ESA Program offers families the flexibility to choose the educational path that best suits their child’s individual learning style and needs. This initiative reflects Indiana’s broader commitment to educational choice and the belief that every child deserves access to personalized education options.
“We recognize that every child is unique, and their educational experiences should reflect that. It’s all about the kids,” added Tina Kaetzel, Executive Director of the Indiana ESA Program. “The success of this program underscores the importance of empowering parents and guardians with the resources necessary to make informed decisions about their children’s education. The program is growing, and it is working,” Kaetzel said.
This is the third year for the program. It has grown by referrals, word of mouth, and marketing on social media. With an 80 percent reapplicant rate, this year 862 students and 156 siblings will be served by the program. With over 600 providers, the program is able to serve students in 67 of Indiana's 92 counties. The Indiana State Treasurer’s Office will continue to oversee the program, ensuring that funds are distributed efficiently and that families have access to the support and information they need.
