A new show at The Wiley Art Gallery will feature well-known local artists David Fields and Tricia Hillenburg.
Along with many awards, Tricia’s paintings have been juried into exhibits of the Indiana Heritage Arts and the book Painting Indiana III: Heritage of Place. Her painting of The Wiley Art Gallery graces the cover of the book Artists Feature Lawrence County.
Regarding her favorite painting subjects, Trish said, “I’m inspired by the scenes and animals of southern Indiana. Friends call me the Weed Queen because I love painting weeds and flowers.” She also creates exquisite still life paintings of antique China and everyday objects.
David Fields serves on the board of directors for the Lawrence County Art Association. After graduating from Rochester College and Harding University, Fields taught drawing, painting, design, and art history at the college level and served as Dean of Students for Rochester College. He returned to Bedford in 1971 and began painting full time.
Fields’ work has been displayed in shows of the Hoosier Salon, Indiana Heritage Arts, Bloomington Art Guild, Brown County Art Gallery, and the annual Persimmon Festival show. The Wiley Art Gallery is located at 14th and J Streets in downtown Bedford. Hours are Thursdays from 1 pm to 5 p.m. to 5 p.m; Fridays from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
