Ruby T. Pruett

Oct. 17, 1906 — March 29, 2011

Ruby T. “Mam” Pruett, 104, formerly of Huron, passed away at 5:30 a.m. Tuesday at Mitchell Manor Living and Rehabilitation Center.

Born Oct. 17, 1906, in Orange County, she was the daughter of John David and Amanda Elizabeth (Jones) Toliver. She was the second of nine children. She married Dennis I. Pruett March 3, 1928, and he preceded her in death Nov. 11, 1978.

Ruby graduated from Orleans High School in 1924, earned a teaching certificate from Oakland City College and received B.S. degrees and M.S. degrees from Indiana University in Speech, Language, and Hearing Pathology. She taught 45 years in the Mitchell Community Schools System.

After retiring from teaching, Ruby accepted a position with Hoosier Uplands to rehabilitate stroke and speech impaired patients and she also worked with the Head Start program for 20 years. She retired in 1995.

She was a member of Indiana State Teachers Association, Gamma Epsilon Chapter of Tri Kappa, Delta Kappa Gamma, WTK Club, Fleur de Lis, American Speech and Hearing Association, and Indiana University Alumni Association.

Ruby was a lifetime member of Bonds Chapel United Methodist Church and had served as pianist, 50 years as church treasurer, and many years as delegate to the United Methodist Church Conference.

Surviving are her daughter, Margaret Dunbar Wilfong of Mitchell; grandchildren, Dana (Brenda) Dunbar, Dennis Dunbar, Dwight (Kathy) Dunbar and Dawn (Dee) Duncan; great-grandchildren, Brack (Chris) Briscoe, Brett (Carrie) Briscoe, Heather (Brian) Parker, Derek Dunbar, Amanda (Chris) Blais, Josh Dunbar, Erin (Nathan) Cheney, Breanne Hawkins and Kinsley Duncan; great-great-grandchildren, Baron Briscoe, Jack and Dane Parker, Jasmine, Jaida, and Jaxyn Blais, and Caleb and Luke Cheney; sisters, Evelyn Toliver of Naples, Fla. and Jewell A. Hodges of Sellersburg; and several nieces and nephews.

Her parents; husband; brothers, Rex Toliver, Roy Toliver, and infant Kenneth Toliver; sisters, Lucille Tandy, Maggie Allbright, and Pauline Tackett; and granddaughter, Diana Dunbar Briscoe, preceded her in death.

Funeral service will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Bonds Chapel United Methodist Church with the Rev. Rob Martindale and the Rev. Dwight Dunbar officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Dayton Isaiah Thomas Dotts, infant son of John and Brittney (Walls) Dotts, passed away Monday at St. Vincent Dunn Hospital.

Survivors include his parents of Bedford; grandparents, Patty Walls, Brian and Jennifer Turpen, and John and Susan Dotts, all of Bedford; great-grandparents, Steve and Cheryl Dubois of Orleans, David and Sue Dotts of Bedford; and great-great-grandmother, Lois Walters of Bedford.

Chris (Christopher) Eric Wade, 37, of 150 Fayetteville-Williams Road, Williams, passed away at 7:15 a.m. Tuesday at his residence.

Born Nov. 16, 1973, in Lawrence County, he was the son of Sanford “Sandy” George Wade and Becky (Briscoe) Hawk.

He was a laborer at the B.G. Hoadley Quarry, an active member of the Old Union Christian Church and Masonic Lodge F&AM No. 228 of Mitchell.

Chris married Stacie Lewis on July 31, 2004, and she survives.

Also surviving with his wife, Stacie of Williams; are three children, Kaitlyn Lewis, Lainey Wade and Chance Wade; mother and stepfather, Becky and Sean Hawk; father and stepmother, Sandy and Kim Wade; two sisters, Mindy Ballard and husband Larry and Jennifer Waggoner and husband Bryon; one niece, Brandalon and two nephews, Reece and Tre Waggoner, all of Williams; maternal grandmother, Anah Mae Briscoe of Mitchell; paternal grandmother Grace Wade of Williams; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Gene Briscoe and paternal grandfather, George Wade.

Chris was a devoted husband and father who loved spending time with his children and he loved farming and the outdoors.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday from the Elmwood Chapel of Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastor Aaron Levering officiating. Burial will follow in the Old Union Christian Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1:30-8 p.m. on Friday and from 10 a.m. until the service on Saturday at the mortuary. Masonic rites will be at 7:30 p.m. on Friday at the mortuary.

V. Evelyn Charles, 91, of 703 27th Street, Bedford, died at 10:50 p.m. on Sunday at Westview Nursing and Rehab in Bedford.

Born April 10, 1919, in Lawrence County, she was the daughter of John F. and Bertha Mae (Dorsett) York. She married Kenneth Sears and he preceded her in death. She later married Buck Charles.

She was a homemaker and had worked for S.S. Kresge, RCA and Sarkes-Tarzian.

She was a member of Valley Mission Church of the Nazarene and attended the Oolitic Trinity Pentecostal Church.

Survivors include her children, Violet Carol Clark Mikels and husband Claude, Paul E. Sears and wife Terri Ellen, Bucky Charles and wife Linda, all of Bedford; seven grandchildren, Kim Maners, Jerry Clark II, Teresa Lynn Allen, Paul Brian Sears, Rachel Hillenburg, Bucky E. Charles and Jamie Hunt; ten great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and her special friend, Marvin Canada.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, Daniel Kenneth Sears; two brothers, Ed and John York; a sister, Dorothy Tillett; and one great-great- grandchild.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Thursday in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Brother Marty Speer officiating. Burial will follow in the Leesville Cemetery.

Barbara A. Piper

Dec. 4, 1932 — March 27, 2011

Barbara Ann Piper, 78, of Bedford, died at 8:27 p.m. on Sunday at Indiana University Health Bloomington Hospital.

Born Dec. 4, 1932, in Bedford, she was the daughter of Edward and Louise Mason. She married Donald Piper from Needmore just before he was shipped off by the Army to Korea. Later they settled in Bedford as he taught at Bedford High School.

Graduating from Bedford High School she studied operatic voice at Indiana University. As a teenager, she sang in a popular band for dances in Lawrence County and also with an Indiana University group in a Gilbert and Sullivan operetta at the Indiana State Fair.

She was a member of the Baptist Church and sang in the choir, often as a soloist, for 60 years. Her emotional contralto soprano voice often brought tears to the audience.

Mrs. Piper was well known as an excellent cook, often serving fabulous dishes to guests and church members.

She and Don traveled to Colorado most summers where they enjoyed the mountain air and the beautiful scenery for tens of vacations.

She is survived by her daughter, Leslie Cagle of Avon; granddaughters, Jessica and Amanda; and one brother, Joe Mason of Balboa Island, Calif.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with the Rev. Dr. Kregg Burris officiating. Burial will follow in the Hilltop Cemetery in Avoca.

Visitation will be from noon until the service on Wednesday at the mortuary.

Norman R. Pierce, 82, of Fayetteville, went to be with his Lord at 2:09 a.m. on Monday.

Born Sept. 19, 1928, in Bedford, he was the son of Elston and Charlotte (Allen) Pierce. He married June Staggs on May 20, 1950, and she survives.

He retired as a mill worker from Indiana Limestone Co. in Oolitic and attended the Fayetteville Baptist Church.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and “The Best Poptart”. He was an avid reader who loved to read the Bible.

He will be loved and missed by his wife of 60 happy years, June; a daughter, Brenda Pyle and husband Ray of Ft. Myers, Fla.; two brothers, Richard Pierce and James Pierce and wife Ann, all of Bedford; two sisters, Jane Kelly and Naomi Gillespie, both of Bedford; three grandchildren, Sean Owens and wife Jessica, and Destiny Watkins all of Ft. Myers, Fla., Dathan Pyle and wife Kristen of Lehigh Acres, Fla.; three great-granddaughters, Jocelyn Watkins, Alexis and Brooklyn Pyle; and two great-grandsons, Skyler and Brenden Watkins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Deanna Delaney.

David L. Nolan

Dec. 16, 1956 — March 27, 2011

David L. Nolan, CPA, 54, Mitchell, passed away at 5:08 a.m. Sunday at Bloomington Hospital.

Born Dec. 16, 1956, in Bedford, he was the son of Donald E. and Hilda (Tyree) Nolan.

He graduated from Mitchell High School in 1974 and Indiana University Southeast in 1979. He established his accounting business in 1982 and was very active in the Mitchell Community. He was currently serving as the president of the Greater Mitchell Chamber of Commerce and had been director of the organization for 12 years.

He was past chairman of the 1984 and 1996 Persimmon Festivals, served as parade chairman five years and in 2006 was honored as Grand Marshal; he has devoted more than 30 years as a tireless volunteer to the festival. He was honored as Volunteer of the Year in 1997 and Citizen of the Year in 2007.

Dave was a State Commissioner of the Indiana Amateur Softball Association, enjoyed sports and had visited every baseball stadium in the United States. He served on the Board of Directors at Mid-Southern Bank, was past president of the Mitchell Rotary Club and served more than 17 years as treasurer of the Dunn Memorial Hospital Board.

Surviving are his father, Donald E. Nolan of Mitchell; sisters, Anita Cornwell and husband John of Avon and Lou Ann Jenkins and husband Tom of Charlestown; two nieces and four nephews; special friend, Teresa Henico of Linton; and many loyal friends and associates.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home with Brother Max Timbrook officiating. Burial will be in Cresthaven Memory Gardens.

Rebecca Ann Pate, 73, of Marlow, Okla., passed away Friday in Duncan, Okla.

No services will be held at this time. The family will have a memorial service in Indiana at a later date.

Becky was born May 21, 1937, in Lawrence County, to Audrey and Hazel (Hughes) Crane.

Becky lived in Indiana before moving to the Marlow area in 1977. She graduated from Shawswick High School in 1955. Becky married James Earl McCullough in Mitchell, in 1961. He preceded her in death in 1966. Becky married Karl Pate in 1981 in Wichita Falls, Texas.

Becky was a homemaker and enjoyed doing word search puzzles and going to the casino. She loved visiting with family and friends.

Survivors include her husband, Karl Pate of Marlow; a son, Clarence William “Billy” Burton and wife Jackie of Indiana; three daughters, Terri Lea Ritchison and husband Doug and Peggy Joanne Spaulding and husband James, all of Indiana, and Carol Diann Stegner and husband Charles of Marlow; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Bill Crane and Bob Crane of Indiana; three sisters, Alta Mae Fields, Euretta Griggs and Cathy Jenner, all of Indiana; former husband, Bill Burton; two sisters-in-law, Peggy McCullough and Gloria Strunk; a special niece that she helped raise, Elizabeth Sue Neal and husband Robert of Duncan, Okla.; several other nieces and nephews.

Harold Tolbert

Harold “Sam” Tolbert, 78, of Williams, died at 6:45 p.m. on Saturday at White River Lodge in Bedford.

He was born Aug. 8, 1932, in the Williams area, the son of Jesse and Nannie (Beavers) Tolbert. He married Jean M. Mundy on Oct. 13, 1951, in Bedford, and she survives.

He worked at Carpenter Body Works in Mitchell for 39 years, retiring in 1994..

He was a member of Fairview Church of Christ.

He valued all of his family and friends and loved visits with them. He also loved to hunt and garden.

Surviving with his wife Jean M. Tolbert of Williams are three daughters, Wanda Cornelison of Oolitic, and Mildred “Mid” (Jim) Delaney and Melissa (Brian) Walker, both of Bedford; two grandchildren, Ryan Cornelison of Oolitic and Jenelle Brooks of Bloomington; three great-grandchildren, Dalton Cornelison of Hartford City and Luna Brooks and Gideon Brooks, both of Bloomington; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; six sisters, Marie Tolbert, Mildred Tolbert, Anna Bex, Pearl Harrell, Pauline Dumond and Genevieve Eisele; two brothers, Arthur Tolbert and Armel Tolbert; and one son-in-law, Gene Cornelison.

Funeral service will be at 3 p.m. on Tuesday at the Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home in Bedford with Brother Richard Holt officiating. Burial will be in Port William Cemetery.

William G. “Bill” Shaw, 68, of Bedford, died at 8:35 p.m. on Friday at St. Vincent Heart Center of Indiana.

Born Jan. 23, 1943, in Glasgow, Ky., he was the son of Garvin and Anna Jewell (Coffey) Shaw.

Bill worked at RCA and PTS Electronics as an electronic technician.

Kylie Leigh Ira, 12, of Bedford, passed away on Thursday in Booneville.

Born July 16, 1998, in Bloomington, she was the daughter of Byron and Tabatha (Hudnall) Ira. She was a sixth grader at Oolitic Middle School where she played the clarinet in the band.

She was a member of the Dive Christian Church.

Survivors include her father, Byron Ira of Bedford; her mother, Tabatha Ira of Henderson, Ky.; a sister, Taylor Ira of Bedford; four brothers, Byron Ira Jr. of Georgia, Ryan Duncan of Henderson, Ky.; Damian Chapman of Clinton, and LesPaul Gordan Couch of Bedford; her grandparents, Kelsie and Janet Pierce of Bedford, Darlene Griggs of Ft. Meyers, Fla., and Ronnie Hudnall of Henderson, Ky.; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Jana Ira; her great-grandparents, Roy F. Ira, Stella Hudnall, Clovie Thompson and Harold Thompson.

Dorothy Ilene (Viers) Quackenbush, 85, of Bedford, died at 2:40 a.m. on Friday at Indiana University Health Bedford Hospital.

Born Sept. 26, 1925, in Lawrence County, she was the daughter of William Gardener and Sarah Elizabeth (Cook) Viers. She married Raleigh W. Quackenbush on Dec. 20, 1951, and he preceded her in death on July 1, 1979. Dorothy was a stay at home mom who raised her three daughters. Later in life, she worked 14 years at Hardee’s Restaurant, she also worked at Hoover’s Candy Store when she was a young girl. She was a people person who enjoyed life. She was a resident of White River Lodge in Bedford.

She was a long-time member of the Central Church of Christ and her church family was very important to her.

She will be remembered by her family as being loving and strong-willed.

Survivors include three daughters, Patricia L. Norris and husband Greg of Anderson, Elizabeth A. Cline and husband Donal Gale of Chesterfield and Carol L. Southern and husband David of Bedford; two sisters, Daisey Reynolds of Bedford and Jeannie Davis of Wabash; a brother, Bill Viers and wife Susie of North Vernon. She was Grandma Bush to William (Erica) of Anderson, Darian of Chesterfield, Tyler (Leia) of Ft. Myers, Fla., and Lindsey of Anderson. She was Great-Grandma Bush to Dru Dane, Dylan Raleigh and Jewel Elizabeth. Also surviving are several special nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and three sisters, Juanita Bates, Marjie Hammond and Mildred Meadows.

Fred J. LeBouef, age 85, of Bedford, passed away at 2:55 p.m. on Tuesday at IU Health, Bedford.

Fred was born on June 14, 1925, in Leland, Miss., to Fred and Annette (Arbour) LeBouef. He married Patricia Roberts on Dec. 20, 1966, in Garden Grove, Calif.

He was a retired business manager in the plywood industry in Vancouver, Wash.

Fred was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving in World War II and was a member of the American Legion.

Fred was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Kenny LeBouef; and three sisters, Lorraine LeBouef, Faye Sanders, and Carol Gorman.

Wanda Mae Warren, 56, of Loogootee, died recently.

She was born Aug. 27, 1954, in Orange County, she was the daughter of Hughes and Ruby (VanLaningham) Richardson. She was the youngest of nine children. She married Greg Warren on Feb. 14, 1998, at the Shoals United Methodist Church.

Wanda was self-employed as a housekeeper for many years and was well known and respected for her diligent housekeeping abilities.

She formerly attended Fairview Church in Shoals.

Survivors include her husband, Greg Warren of Loogootee; one son, Nathan Roach of Shoals: one grandson, Damon Roach of Shoals; four brothers, Charles Richardson of Paoli, Raymond (Joleen) Richardson of Ramsey, and Calvin (Joan) Richardson and Clarence Richardson of Marengo; four sisters, Ethel (Melvin) Nelson of Paoli, Mary Knight of Birdseye, Linda (Kenneth) Ivey of Bedford, and Kay (Loy) Doenges of Hardinsburg; her mother-in-law, Pat Allbright of Shoals; uncle, Hazel (Helen) VanLaningham of Milford; 16 nieces; nine nephews; and many cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two nieces.

Beulah Elizabeth “Bee” Boruff, 95, Indianapolis, formerly of Bedford, died at 4:20 p.m. on Tuesday at St. Francis Hospital and Health Center in Beech Grove.

Born April 22, 1915, in Bakersfield, Calif., she was the daughter of John and Minnie Belle (Blackburn) Arnold. She married Robert Leslie Boruff on June 25, 1931, and he preceded her in death on May 10, 1992.

She retired from Smith Jewelry in Bedford.

She was a graduate of Owensburg High School and was a member of the Church of Christ.

Beulah’s love of horses started at age 12 and continued throughout her life. She and her husband had a horse farm in Bedford and showed horses for many years. After retiring, she and her husband moved to Ft. Myers, Fla., and were there 20 years. She was always busy in her garden and loved to bowl. She also painted and was a member of the Lawrence County Art Association.

She was devoted to her family.

Survivors include one daughter, Kaye Boruff (Dale) Auerbach of Indianapolis; two grandsons, Bradley (Linda) Auerbach of Plain City, Ohio, and David (Kathy) Auerbach of Indianapolis; one great-granddaughter, Mikaya Auerbach of Indianapolis.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and daughter, Janice Leigh Boruff.

Helen L. Guthrie, 89, of Bedford, died at 3:50 p.m. Tuesday at St. Vincent Dunn Hospital.

She was born March 23, 1921, in Bedford, the daughter of Arthur and Virginia (Gee) Isom. She married Harold Norman Guthrie on Oct. 13, 1940, and he preceded her in death on May 3, 1994.

She was a homemaker and an abstractor with Lawrence County Abstract for over 50 years.

She was a graduate of Bedford High School with the class of 1938. She was a member of Pinhook Church of Christ and had attended Oolitic Church of Christ. She was a member of the Bedford Writing Club of Oakland City University and Lawrence County Art Association.

Survivors include two sons, Arthur Norman (Patty) Guthrie and Paul (Debbie) Guthrie, all of Bedford; seven grandchildren, Bryan K. Guthrie, Mary Guthrie Burton and Greg Guthrie of Bedford, Sharyl (Todd) Harper of Mooresville, Sean (Natasha) Guthrie of Stamping Ground, Ky., and Alicia (Justin) Russell and Matthew (Misty) Guthrie of Bedford; 18 great-grandchildren; one sister, Lois (Frank) Hunter of Greenwood; several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews, including, Kay (Tom) Shirley, and Joan Lee (Claude) Earl, who were very special nieces to her; and a very special friend, Avril Young.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one brother, Morris Isom; and one son, Harold “Scott” Guthrie.

Born Sept. 19, 1947, in Lawrence County, he was the son of Ernest D. and Oma Mae (Parish) Holt. He married Belinda Williams Sept. 28, 1978.

He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Vietman War.

Roy had been employed in the heating and cooling business and was also a roofer. He was a member of the Mitchell Pentecostal Church.

Surviving are his wife, Belinda Holt of Mitchell; children, Tracey Lynnette Stidam of Ninevah, Denem Lee (Ashley) Stidam of Fayetteville and Robert Clayton (Rebecca) Holt of Mitchell; grandchildren, Mallorie, Keegan, Kayden, Levi, Alivia, Devin, and Alexus; sisters, Kathleen Massey and Joyce (Ronnie) Frost, both of Mitchell; and several nieces and nephews.

His parents; brother, Kenneth F. Holt; and sisters, Charlotte Passmore and Margaret Tanksley, preceded him in death.

Maxine Curry, 98, Bedford, a former resident of Owensburg and Indianapolis, passed away at 6:20 a.m. on Sunday at the StoneBridge Health Campus.

Born Feb. 11, 1913, in Monroe County, she was the daughter of Craig and Thursa (Sparks) Sare. She married Howard E. (Gene) Curry on Dec. 25, 1940, and he preceded her in death on June 25, 1996.

She was a member of the Owensburg Baptist Church, and a 1931 graduate of Bloomington High School. She had worked as a secretary for J.M. Hoadley Stone Co. in Bloomington, Real Silk Hosiery Co. in Indianapolis and retired from Keystone Lighting in Castleton.

Survivors include, her daughter, Janet Atkins and husband David of Owensburg; one granddaughter, Sally Miller and husband Jeff of Mitchell; two great-grandsons, Collin Miller and Dillon Miller both of Mitchell; one brother, Jack Sare of New Castle; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and four brothers, Walter, Rufus, Richard, and Donald Sare.

Mary Jo Davis, 90, of Bedford, entered into her Heavenly Home at 6:10 p.m. on Thursday at Garden Villa in Bedford.

Born July 1, 1920, in Woodville, Ohio, she was the daughter of George and Lula (Sons) Tapp. She married Albert “Wayne” Davis on Sept. 12, 1942, and he preceded her in death on Oct. 1, 1982.

She was a graduate of Bedford High School. She had worked at Kresges, RCA in Bloomington and in Fleet Logistics at NWSC Crane before her disability retirement in 1975.

She was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church and had attended the New Union Church. She was a member of the Gathering Friends Extension Homemakers Club, and a former member of the Rebekah Lodge and T.O.P.S. Club No. 1236.

She was a wonderful mother and grandmother; her two grandsons were her pride and joy.

Survivors include a daughter, Becky Fields of Bedford; two grandsons, Brien Fields and wife Elizabeth of Woburn, Mass., and Jeffrey Fields of Bedford; a cousin that she considered her brother, Bob Blythe and wife Maxine; and several nieces and nephews by marriage.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, Johnny in infancy; and a son-in-law, Bob Fields.

Winfred H. ‘Buck’ Prince

Winfred Harold “Buck” Prince, 78, of Springville died Saturday morning at the University of Louisville Hospital from injuries suffered in an automobile accident.

Born July 12, 1932, in Smithville, he was the son of Emery Prince and stepmother Maude, and mother May Morron and step father Bracie.

Buck was a United States Army veteran, serving during the Korean War. He spent his professional career as a crane operator in limestone mills including Indiana Limestone, Woolery’s and Independent Limestone. He retired from Independent Limestone in 1993.

He was a member of the Eagles Local No. 1085, the VFW Post No. 9107, and was a member of the Laborers Union No. 741 for 50 years.

Throughout his life Buck was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed time hunting, fishing. He also enjoyed a wide variety of other sports especially NASCAR.

Buck leaves behind his companion Gladys Blake; two sons, Rick Prince and wife Lori of Bloomington, and Kenny Prince and wife Polly of Heltonville; two daughters, Dana Prince and husband Tim, and Lisa Connolly and husband Tim, all of Heltonville; grandchildren, Kelli Prince-Tiller, Stacey Martinez, Brandi Prince, Mandie Tolliver, Jason Prince, Robert Heath Prince and wife Dr. Ashley Armstrong, Heather Joseph and husband Scott, Heidi Prince and Justin Chambers; and great-grandchildren, Brecken, Matthew, Kylee, Naomi, Luke, Cory and Lillianna. Buck is also survived by two brothers, John Prince and Jerry Joe Morron; and four sisters, Phyllis Birchler, Sharon Norman, Nancy Robertson, and Kathy Evans.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Richard Prince, Lyual Morron and Marshall Morron; as well as three sisters, Maxine Arthur, Roberta Morron, and Rose Marie Prince.

Funeral service for Buck will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Allen Funeral Home, 4155 South Old Highway 37.

William W. “Bill” Todd, 73, of 1739 Salem Road, Heltonville, died at 8:02 a.m. on Saturday at I.U. Health Bedford Hospital.

Born Nov. 23, 1937 in Lawrence County, he was the son of Ralph N. and Laverne (Norman) Todd. He married Rowena Johnson on Sept. 22, 1956, and she survives.

He worked as a supervisor for General Motors before his retirement in 1991.

He was a member of the Heltonville Christian Church, a member of the Leesville Masonic Lodge #161 F. & A.M. and a past president of the Gilgal Cemetery Association.

Survivors include his wife Rowena of Heltonville; two sons, Monty Todd and wife Doris of Heltonville and Brent Todd and wife Kimberley of Indianapolis; four grandchildren, Shannon Purdy and husband Troy, Aaron Todd, Amelia Todd, and Andrew Todd; two sisters, Rosemary Manzenberger of Oolitic and Ruth Ballantyne of Bedford; two brothers, John Todd of Ringgold, Ga., and Jerry Todd of Chesterton; and aunts and uncles, Ermil and Lola Norman, Rita Norman, and Helen Todd.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, William Joseph Todd; one brother, Donald Todd; and one sister, Barbara Bundy.

Born June 4, 1923, in Bedford, he was the son of Eli Blaine and Bellzora (Gibson) Stailey. He married Lorna Mae Roberts on June 4, 1942, and she preceded him in death on July 17, 2006.

He was employed at General Motors in the melting department and was an avid fisherman. He was well known for building dog houses.

Howard Tincher, 84, of Shoals, passed away at 6:47 p.m. Tuesday at St. Vincent Dunn Hospital in Bedford.

Born Oct. 1, 1926, in Mitchell, he was the son of Edward and Ida Mae (Tolbert) Tincher.

He was a member of Liberty Baptist Church.

Surviving are a daughter, Betty Hancock and husband Jerry Jr., of Mitchell; grandchildren, Darcy Wade and Beth Hancock and Nick Hancock; great-grandchildren, Andrew and Taylar Watts; great friends, Duke and Pat Wallskog; several nieces and nephews; and five dogs.

His parents, brothers, George Lee Tincher, Raymond Tincher and Keith Tincher; and sisters, Lola Tincher, Orpha Helen Fadler, Gladys Mae Brock, Virginia Frances Fox, and Juanita Maxine Tillett, preceded him in death.

Raymond Boyd Silvers, 55, of Medora, died at 5:30 a.m. on Wednesday at Core Nursing and Rehab in Bedford.

He was born May 27, 1955, in Bedford, the son of Raymond D. Silvers and Rosetta Terrell Silvers Tipton. He married Kimberly Marcum, and she preceded him in death.

He was a self-employed contractor.

He was a U.S. Army veteran. He loved to fish, watch football, basketball and NASCAR racing.

Survivors include one son, James Daniel Silvers of Kentucky; two daughters, Jennifer Silvers, address unknown, and Natalie Silvers of Mitchell; his mother, Rosetta Tipton of Bedford; three half brothers, Scott Lovell of Mitchell, and Raymond D. Silvers Jr. and Edward Silvers, both of Louisville; and two half sisters, Marie Watson of Bedford and Melissa Silvers of Louisville.

His father, Raymond D. Silvers and wife, Kimberly Silvers, preceded him in death.

To comply with his wishes, cremation was chosen. There will be no services.

Juanita Murray Smith, 96, of Bedford, died at 3 a.m. on Tuesday at the White River Lodge in Bedford.

Born May 28, 1914, in Orangeville, she was the daughter of Noble and Minnie (Tolbert) Felknor. She married Floyd Murray on Oct. 20, 1934 and he preceded her in death in July of 1961. She later married Harold Smith on July 3, 1969, and he died on Dec. 14, 1999.

She was a graduate of Bedford High School with the class of 1933. She retired from the Sears Roebuck & Co. after 20 years and was a member of the Englewood Baptist Church. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and former member of the Business and Professional Women’s Club.

Survivors include a son, Stephen Floyd Murray and wife Irene of Carmel; a stepson, Donald L. Smith of Bedford; a stepdaughter, Faye Barksdale and husband Jerome of Bedford; four grandchildren, Michael, Todd and Bradley Murray and Susan Carlock; several great-grandchildren; several step-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Jewell Storms of Bedford.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; three sisters, Daisy Walker, Genevieve Beasley and Zella Hamilton; and one brother, Clinton Felknor.

Funeral service will be at 3 p.m. on Thursday at the Englewood Baptist Church with Pastor Dave Ferry officiating. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens.

Robert B. Prince

Robert B. Prince, 73, of Springville, passed away on Monday at his residence after battling a long illness.

He was born Jan. 24, 1938, in Monroe County to Bee and Lela Butcher Prince.

Robert spent his professional career as a carpenter for 20 years and Indiana Limestone for 16 years before his retirement in 1996. He was a member of Local 741 Union for 30 years and was of the Pentecostal Faith.

Robert enjoyed being outdoors, fishing, NASCAR, his beloved dogs Suzi and Sugar, but will be most fondly remembered by his family as a loving and devoted husband, father, and helper of everyone he knew.

Robert is survived by his wife Stella Grubb Prince of Springville, whom he married July 13, 1957. He also leaves behind his sons, David Prince and wife Kelli, Jeff Prince and Daniel Prince, all of Bloomington; daughter, Melody Elmore and husband James of Springville; five grandchildren, Alissa Harding and her husband Curtis of Bloomington, Joshua Prince of Springville, Jason Elmore of Springville, Jessica Elmore of Springville, and Sarah Prince of Bloomington; great-grandson, Dylan Richardson; brother, Virgil Prince of Bedford; and three sisters, Beulah Hearth of Bedford, Jeannette Martin of Avoca, and Judy Brain of Springville.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Virginia Nikirk, and Wilma Deckard; and brothers, Ernest, James, Randall, and Danny Prince.

Funeral service for Robert will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Allen Funeral Home in Bloomington with the Rev. Robert Phillips officiating. Burial will follow at Clover Hill Cemetery in Harrodsburg.

Paul Andrew “Punk” Love, 83, of Bedford, died at 1:40 a.m. Monday at St. Vincent Dunn Hospital in Bedford.

He was born July 22, 1927, in Bedford, the son of Crook and Rose (Hawk) Love. He married Phyllis Maxine Hall on Nov. 24, 1950, and she survives.

He was an advertising representative at the Bedford Times-Mail newspaper for 42 years, retiring in 1991.

He was a 1945 graduate of Bedford High School and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.

He was a member of Englewood Baptist Church, the American Legion Gillen Post No. 33, the BPOE Elks Lodge No. 826, Bedford, Bedford Masonic Lodge No. 14 F&AM, Shrine Club and Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis.

Survivors include his wife Maxine of Bedford; three sons, Larry Paul (Cindy) Love, Mark Alan Love, and Bradley (Karen) Love, all of Bedford; one daughter, Karen Sue (David) Cummings of Bedford; five grandchildren, Jason Paul Love, Amber M. James was retired from A&H Truck Lines and worked several years for Kirk’s Grocery. James was a member of Fayetteville Baptist Church and attended the First Baptist Church of Bedford. He was a member of the American Association of Retired Persons.

Survivors include one daughter, Teresa Norris and husband Rondell of Columbus; two grandsons, Adam Norris of Indianapolis and Kyle Norris and wife Amy of Fargo, N.D.; one brother, Lewis C. Later, he worked for the Burlington Railroad in Kansas City, Mo., then for RCA/GE in Indiana and New Jersey. He attended LaSalle University and Indiana School of Business. He was a member of the United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Irene (nee Peters); daughters, Janet and Rebecca Hubbard; and two granddaughters. Predeceased by parents; brothers, Elbert, Winifred, Jim, Noble E. and Paul; and by sisters, Helen (Bill) Taylor, Bessie (Wes) Edwards and Frances (Ab) Boone.

Irenia Marie Harmon, 95, of Bloomington, passed away on Thursday, March 10, 2011, at Garden Villa. Irenia was born on May 21, 1915, in Lawrence County, Indiana, and was the daughter of William P. and Jossie (Clark) Glascoe.

She attended Bloomington High School and worked and retired from Bloomington Hospital where she worked in the laundry department. After retirement, she worked with her daughter, Shirley, at Jean Marie Fabrics and Cupid’s Bridal. She was a member of The First Church of God.

Irenia married Edgar M. Harmon on June 23, 1935, and he preceded her in death in 1966. She is survived by two daughters, Shirley M. Shelton (Dewey) of Bloomington, and Beverly D. Kinser of Ellettsville; foster son, Denzil Ray Godsey (Sue) of Lawrence County; and one sister, Helen Buskirk of Bloomington. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren, 12 foster grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, 2 step-great-grandchildren, 12 foster great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren and 1 step-great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edgar; son, Edgar Marvin Harmon; daughter, Judith (Judy) May; son-in-law, Ronnie Kinser; brother, Clovis Glascoe; and sister, Ruby Smith.

Wayne L. Meek, 86, of Cataract, passed away Friday, March 11, 2011, in Greencastle. He was born May 18, 1924, in Cataract to Basil and Pearl (Newell) Meek. He graduated from Quincy High School in 1943 and then joined the Army during WWII. He held many jobs as an Owen County Sheriff Deputy, driving a school bus for Cunot schools, helping to build the Cataract fire tower, assisting the surveying of the area that is now Cataract Lake, and he retired as the property manager of Owen/Putnam County State Forest after 17 years. Wayne was a Cloverdale School Board member for 8 years and also served as an Owen County Trustee for 8 years. Wayne was an avid outdoorsman, farmer and bee keeper. He loved to tell the history of the Cataract area to anyone who asked for information.

Mr. Meek is survived by his wife of 55 years, Helen (Snyder) Meek; children, Loretta Froedge of Indianapolis, John Allen (Vivian) Meek and Steve Meek, both of Cataract; brothers, Bobby Meek of Bedford, Don Meek and Basil Meek, Jr., both of Cataract; sisters, Billie Martin of Bloomfield and Ruth Shepherd of Hendricksville; 5 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and 6 step-great-grandchildren.

He was born May 15, 1916, in Lawrence County, the son of Will R. and Blanche (Ramsey) Wood. He married Mary Edwina Sheeks on Jan. 1, 1938, and she preceded him in death in December 2009.

He was a 1934 graduate of Shawswick High School and was a member of White River Baptist Church.

He was a farmer and drove a school bus for over 30 years for Tunnelton School.

Tessa Elyse Byers

April 6, 1992 — March 5, 2011

Tessa Elyse Byers, 18, of Carmel, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at 10:30 p.m. Saturday, March 5, 2011.

Visitation for Tessa will be held Friday, March 11, 2011 from 3–8 p.m. and the funeral service on Saturday, March 12, 2011 at 10:30. Both services will be held at East 91st Street Christian Church, 6049 East 91st Street, Indianapolis, IN 46250.

Tessa Byers was born on April 6, 1992, in Indianapolis, IN the daughter of Robin Wayne and Donna Jean Byers. She graduated from Park Tudor School in 2010. She was a Freshman at University of Tampa with ambitions of majoring in Theatre and had recently pledged Alpha Psi Omega.

Tessa was involved in a great number of activities during her school career and church involvement. She was an accomplished musician, singer/songwriter, photographer, and actress. Tessa had a passion for missions work in Show Low, Arizona and served the Apache reservation with great enthusiasm. She participated in numerous worship bands and was currently leading worship for Campus Crusade for Christ at the University of Tampa.

Tessa was an active participant in many Park Tudor productions including her most memorable performance last Spring in Bye Bye Birdie. She was a member of the Park Tudor Lacrosse and Swim Teams. She was a vibrant and energetic young lady with a heart of love and service for her Lord and others. She was gifted with a contagiously wonderful spirit of fun and laughter.

Tessa has now had the unspeakable joy of seeing her Lord and Savior face to face and is praising Him with the gift of music He bestowed upon her.

Surviving are her parents, Robin Wayne and Donna Jean Byers of Carmel; her sister, Kathryn Olivia Byers of Carmel; her grandparents, Fred and Betty Byers of Springville, IN, her aunt, Becky Byers of Springville, IN, her grandmother, Shirley Jeanine Elzy of Greenwood, IN, her uncle Dennis Elzy and aunt Pam Elzy of Arlington, IN, and uncle Thom Dehorn and aunt Belinda DeHorn of Greenwood, IN, Cousins include Meredith and Taylor Elliott, Jessica Haire and husband Chris, Kylie Conde and husband Phil, and Zoe Conde.

She is preceded in death by her grandfather, Donald Lee Elzy.

Edwin P. Seymour, 95, Bedford, died at 5:50 a.m. Tuesday at Indiana University Health Bloomington Hospital.

He was born Feb. 7, 1916, in Ripley County, to Alva P. and Josie (Henderson) Seymour. He married Mary Calpha in Hattiesburg, Miss., and she preceded him in death in 1981.

Edwin grew up on a farm; was a truck driver, dump truck driver; was a licensed electrician; worked for Ford in Connersville; and retired from Ford/Visteon.

He was a World War II Army veteran, was a member of the American Legion, VFW, American Vets, 40 & 8, all of Connersville; and the Eagles and Elks clubs.

Survivors include three daughters, Ann Gustafson of Merrillville, Jan Halstead of Bedford and Zoe Seymour of Centerville; one son, Eric Seymour of Powell, Ohio; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; one brother, Lawrence Seymour; and one sister, Kathryn Schuck.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home in Connersville. Burial will be in Laurel North Cemetery in Laurel.

Friends may call from noon until the service on Saturday at the funeral home.

Myra Joan “Jodie” Moore, 81, of 1523 1st Street, Bedford, died at 2:26 p.m. on Monday at the Golden Living Center in Bloomington.

Born Jan. 5, 1930, in Bedford, she was the daughter of Nelson and Mary (Dilly) Sears. She married Homer C. Moore on Aug. 29, 1952, and he survives.

She was a homemaker and swimming instructor for the Red Cross for 20 years. She managed city pools for several years and volunteered at St. Vincent de Paul Society and the Bedford Medical Center Auxiliary.

She was a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and enjoyed playing cards, reading, spending time with family and friends. She was an avid IU basketball and Indianapolis Colts fan.

Survivors include her husband, Homer, of Bedford; two sons, William Tyree Moore and wife Stella of Bedford and Tod Moore and wife Angie of Bloomington; a daughter, Gina Owens and husband Doyle of Granger; grandchildren, Jeremy (Heather) Moore, Kylee (Jason) Harding, all of Bedford, Chris Moore and Katie Moore, both of Bloomington, Codie (Chase) Taylor of South Bend and Kyle Owens of Longwood, Fla.; stepgrandsons, Nicholus Bays of Monroe, Ohio and Bob (Crystal) Bays of Bedford; nine great-grandchildren; a brother, David Sears and wife Linda of Littleton, Colo.; two sisters, Mary Merrell of Greenwood and Nancy Wilson and husband Jim of Estero, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter, Kathleen (in infancy).

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Friday at the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church with Father Rick Eldred officiating. Burial will follow. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, at the Day & Carter Mortuary where a rosary service will be conducted at 7:30 p.m.

Mary B. Maar, 94, Spice Valley Road, Mitchell, died Friday at Golden Living Center in Bloomington. Mary moved to Mitchell in 1999 due to failing health and to be with her daughter and son-in-law.

She was born Nov. 2, 1916, in Chicago, Ill., the daughter of John and Elizabeth (Kafka) Bauer. She married Anton “Tony” Maar on June 18, 1938, and he preceded her in death on Dec. 7, 1981.

She was in show business, performing at fairs around the Midwest, including the Indiana State Fair, with acrobatic and dog acts.

She was a member of Spice Valley Baptist Church.

Survivors include one sister, Betty Jane Ward of Fox Point, Wis.; sister-in-law, Angela Vehabovic of West Allis, Wis.; daughter, Pat (Maar) Boscher and husband Tom of Mitchell; granddaughters, Laura (Ken) Rasch and Sue (Joe) Kuryanowicz, all of Kenosha, Wis.; grandson, Jim Koos of Evansville and Tom (Katie) Boscher of Mundelein, Ill.; great-granddaughters, Nikki Koos, Sara Rasch, and Morgan and Peyton Kuryanowicz; great-grandsons, Lcpl. Kevin Rasch, Camp Pendleton, Calif., Steven Rasch, Colin and Quinn Boscher, and Carter Kuryanowicz; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Elizabeth Bauer; and two brothers, Joe and Otto Bauer.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on March 19 at St. Thomas Chapel, 40th Ave., Kenosha, Wis. Interment will be at Lee Memorial Gardens in Fort Myers, Fla., on April 25.

Avola K. Lewis, 102, White River Lodge, formerly of 1612 18th St., Bedford, died at 8:15 a.m. on Saturday at White River Lodge.

She was born Feb. 7, 1909, in Vigo County, the daughter of Elza and Addie (Allen) Knight. She married Enos C. Lewis on Oct. 16, 1928, in Bedford, and he preceded her in death on June 9, 1993.

She was a homemaker and a graduate of Bedford High School.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, having served as elder; and Kappa Sigma Sorority and the Eastern Star.

Survivors include one daughter, Connie Ellen Endris of Greensburg; one son, Robert Allen (Dianna) Lewis of Bedford; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; one niece; and one nephew.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday at the First Presbyterian Church in Bedford with Pastor Mark McDaniel officiating. Burial will be in Cresthaven Memory Gardens.

Sister Jane Gilbert went home to the Lord on Saturday, March 5.

Born May 30, 1954, in Bedford, she was the daughter of Joseph C. and Mary J. (Dalton) Gilbert, who both preceded her in death.

Also preceding her in death was one brother, Stephen D. Gilbert and a sister, Georgianna Jenkins in infancy.

Surviving are two brothers, Mike Gilbert of Woodburn, Ky. and Chris Gilbert of Russelville, Ky.; and nine sisters, Jeanie Judah of Bedford, Laura Thomas of Wabash, Jackie Short of Bedford, Patsy Benson of Cloverdale, Ore., Beverly Chain of Wabash, Rosemary McDonald of Stuart, Okla., Jo Ellen Sutton of Cahokia, Ill., Sandra Nordhoff of Bedford and Linda Randolph of Bedford. Janie also had 12 half-brothers and sisters from Texas, some of whom preceded her in death.

While Janie had no children of her own, she had many nieces and nephews she loved and helped to nurture. Special mention to her namesake Jayne McIntosh, Matt Walker and baby Neil Norris.

Janie was a lifelong Christian and currently a member and deacon of The Body of Christ Fellowship Church.

Viewing for Janie will be Tuesday evening from 4-8 p.m. at the Body of Christ Fellowship Church, 3604 Washington Ave., Bedford.

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. on Wednesday at the church with the Revs. John and Cheryl Turpin officiating.

He worked at Indiana Limestone Company and Victor Oolitic Limestone.

He attended Bedford North Lawrence High School, Body of Christ Church. He loved to help his family and friends, study the Bible and keep the faith up.

She was born Sept. 14, 1927, in Daviess County, to Pearl and Gertrude (Nolan) Guy. On Sept. 15, 1947, she married Alfred “Shorty” Inman and he preceded her in death on Feb. 13, 2004.

She was a homemaker.

Clyde Brock

June 6, 1937 — March 4, 2011

Clyde Brock, 73, of Brownstown, died at 3 a.m. on Friday.

He was born June 6, 1937, at Bad Creek, in Leslie County, Ky., the son of John and Susie (Hoskins) Brock. He married Mabel E. Stuckwisch on July 19, 1958, and she preceded him in death on March 16, 1995.

He worked at Foley Construction in Nevada, worked on the farm of Bob Watts, worked at Mississippi Valley Barge Line for six years, then worked as a supervisor at HO Canfield/Pantasote for 281⁄2 years, retiring in December, 1990.

He attended Calvary Catholic School in Kentucky.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing and taking car rides with his children and grandchildren.

Surviving are two sons, Terry M. Brock of Freetown and John (Melissa) Brock of Brownstown; two daughters, Linda (Mike) Allman and Vickie (Matt) Persinger, all of Brownstown; two brothers, Bige (Tania) Brock of Panama City, Fla., and Cecil (Gloria) Brock of Bedford; two sisters, Goldie (Richard) Goens of Clearspring and Cathy Verba of Medora; 11 grandchildren, Amanda (Brett) Parker and Kelli Brock, all of Bedford, Brandee Brock of Seymour, Spencer and Lexi Allman, Jonah and Madison Persinger, and Seth, Emily, Macie and Ava Brock, all of Brownstown; four sisters-in-law, Grace Stuckwisch of Seymour, Marilyn Stuckwisch and Josephine Brock, both of Brownstown and Eunice (Kenneth) Wessel of Columbus.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; four brothers, Walter, Inman “IG,” Johnny and Dempsey Brock; two sisters, Virgie Allman and Rosie Stuckwisch; one granddaughter, Faith Elizabeth Brock on Feb. 13, 2009.

Wilburn L. “Buck” Rayle, 86, of Bedford, and formerly of Monroe County passed away on Friday at Westview Nursing and Rehab in Bedford.

He was born in Smithville on Aug. 8, 1924, the son of Harley and Bessie (Wampler) Rayle. Buck was self-employed and prior to his retirement was a contract news carrier for the Bloomington Herald Telephone (Herald-Times). He worked with the newspaper for 23 years. He was also a member of Sanders Pentecostal Church.

Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Emma (Puett) Rayle of Bedford; one daughter and son-in-law, Sue and Jim Dousch of Bedford; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Tom and Judy Rayle and James Rayle, all of Bedford; five grandchildren, Susan A. Burns, Kelly D. Rayle, Faron R. Burns, Tracey Smith and Crystal Thornton; 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. He is also survived by two sisters, Doris Polley and Trucilla Frye, both of Bloomington.

He was preceded in death by one grandson, Wesley Scott Burns; and one brother, Donald Rayle.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Sanders Pentecostal Church with the Rev. Joe Nelson officiating. Burial will be at Clear Creek Cemetery where military graveside rites will be conducted by the Veterans Honor Guard.

Otto Leo Milligan, 87, of Bedford, died at 5:29 a.m. Thursday at Monroe Hospital in Bloomington.

Otto was born April 15, 1923, in Knox County, the son of Lee Milligan and Maggie (Crabtree) Milligan Brown. He first married Kathryn Allen and she preceded him in death in 1977. He then married Betty (Arnold) Stevens on March 31, 1978, in Bedford, and she survives.

He worked for Public Service Indiana, in Bedford, for 40 years.

He was a member of First Chuirch of God in Bedford, was a 50-year member Cedar Lodge No. 161 F&AM in Leesville, serving as past master and secretary of the lodge.

Surviving with his wife; are two daughters, Kay (Roger) Payton of Leesville and Sharon Melvin Barnes of Bedford; two sons, Kenny (Teri) Stevens and Jon (Thersa) Stevens, all of Bedford; seven grandchildren, Kenny Stidam, Shawn Dixon, Angel Sorrells, Michael Stevens, Corey Stevens, Sarah Ralston, and Kurt Stevens; 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Uda Mae Dunbar, Puyallup, Wash. and Virginia Lake, Moses Lake, Wash.

He was preceded by his parents; first wife, Kathryn Allen Milligan, in 1977; a son, Roger Dale Milligan; one granddaughter; a sister, Eva Bell Baker; and 2 brothers, Charles “Mib” Milligan and Willard Brown.

Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the Leesville Cemetery with the Rev. Bob Baker officiating. Masonic rites will be by Cedar Lodge No. 161, Leesville. Burial will follow.

Roger W. Parrish

March 26, 1952 — March 2, 2011

Roger W. Parrish, 58, of Heltonville, a generous and loving man who will be sadly missed by so many, passed away at Indiana University Health Bedford Hospital, on Wednesday.

He was always eager to help anyone in need, but so many will remember him by his quick wit and ability to crack a joke, always making everyone around him laugh. He loved to be outside, spend time with his family, and was an avid woodworker.

Roger attended Spencer High School and was a Vietnam Navy Veteran. He has since worked in various jobs, mostly in fields that allowed him to build or create and to be outside. He spent much of his retirement walking in the woods and caring for his family.

He was born March 26, 1952, in Bloomington, to Garold “Buck” and Rita (Greenwood) Parrish of Plainfield and they survive. Also surviving are his wife of 21 years, Glenda (Kinser) Parrish; daughter, Mandy Bowman of Bloomington; son, Dana Delp of Bloomington; brothers, Robert Parrish of Ellettsville and Gary Parrish of Mooresville; and four granddaughters, Ali Delp, Hannah Delp, Elizabeth Smith and Chloe Smith.

He is preceded in death by his brother, Michael Parrish.

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m., Tuesday, at West & Parrish & Pedigo Funeral Home in Spencer with Pastor Steve Baker officiating. Burial will follow at Meadows Church Cemetery in Heltonville with military graveside services to be conducted by the Gillen Post No. 33 Honor Guard of Bedford.

Ray Eugene McLaughlin passed away at 6:42 p.m. on Wednesday surrounded by his family.

He was born Oct. 13, 1964, to the late Raymond McLaughlin and Jean (Brewer) Sullivan.

He was employed as a welder for several fabricating companies in Lawrence County.

He was of the Protestant faith. He enjoyed dirt track racing, fishing, NASCAR and watching football.

Survivors include his mother, Jean, and stepfather, Wendall Sullivan; two daughters, Allison (Nick) Hembree and Adrianne (Jeremy) Carr, all of Loogootee; four granddaughters, Mylee, Maycee, Grayce, and Zoey; one grandson on the way; two brothers, Timothy (Shannon) McLaughlin of Heltonville and Jody McLaughlin of Bloomington; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Ivan Randall Goen Sr., 61, Bedford, died at 2:45 a.m. on Wednesday at his residence.

Born Oct. 9, 1949, in Lawrence County, he was the son of Cletus and Dorothy Foster Goen of Medora. He married Mary Rose Sullivan on Jan. 5, 1971.

He was a laborer at Hatfield Iron & Metal and Bedford Recycling before becoming disabled.

He attended Medora High School. He was of the Christian faith.

Surviving are his wife, Mary Rose Goen of Bedford; one daughter, Michelle Staggs and husband Tom of Bedford; two sons, Ivan Goen Jr. and wife Lisa and Thomas Goen and wife Janette, all of Bedford; grandchildren, Rose Goen, who was raised by Ivan and Mary, Ashley, Ivy and Cynthia, Jennifer, Stephanie, Shonda, and Cletus Goen, and Mathew and Randall Staggs; one great-grandson, Mathew Dean Staggs Jr.; stepgrandchildren, Timmy Wilkerson and Dawn and Dillion Blair; three brothers, Paul Goen of Medora, Thomas J. Goen of Mitchell and Gary Goen; and one sister, Carol Elkins of Columbus.

Graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Dive Cemetery with Johnny Johnson, Minister, officiating. Burial will follow.

Dorothy I. Holley, 88, passed away peacefully at 10:07 p.m. Tuesday at StoneBridge Health Campus.

Born on Nov. 10, 1922, in New Albany, she was the daughter of Alva and Clara (Bauer) Kopp. She married Carl L. Holley in 1941 and he preceded her in death on July 1, 1971.

Surviving are her daughter, Donna K. Pace and her husband Charles of Bedford; one grandson, Brian C. Pace and his wife Mary of Bedford; one granddaughter, Debra K. Burke of Fishers; four great-grandchildren, Holley Pace and David Pace, both of Bedford and Austin Burke and Brianna Burke, both of Fishers; one sister, Kathleen Freeman and her husband John of Shelbyville; two brothers, Howard Kopp of Bedford and Roger Kopp of Lady Lake, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and four brothers, Warren Kopp, Louis “Pete” Kopp, James Kopp and Kenneth Kopp.

She was a homemaker.

She was born Feb. 4, 1944, in Springville, the daughter of Pikey and Nora E. (Fulk) Arthur.

Judy last worked for PTS Electronics and was a member of the Bethel Christian Church in Springville.

Surviving relatives include her two daughters, Kimberly Denise (Bill) Young and Tamara Renee McCormick, all of Bedford; two grandchildren, McColley Young and Camden Spinks, both of Bedford; her mother, Nora E. Arthur of Solsberry; her brothers and sisters, Roger Arthur of Bloomfield, Arlene Jackson of Florida, Darrell Arthur of Springville, Lucy Chambers of Solsberry, Ricky Arthur of Springville and Tim Arthur of Bloomfield; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father; and husband, Dennis Lee Gardner, on Oct. 31, 2003.

There will be no public visitation.

A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. on Friday at Garrison Chapel Cemetery in Bloomington with Pastor Ken Ransom and the Rev. Dave Sowders officiating. Burial will be at Garrison Chapel Cemetery.

Robert K. Eversole, 60, of Madison, and formerly of Mitchell and Hanover, died Feb. 20 in Madison.

He was born June 28 1950, in Bedford, to John W. and Lorena (McPherson) Eversole. He married Brenda L. Weeks on Nov. 28, 1970, in Paoli, and she survives.

He was a senior claims adjustor for Cincinnati Insurance Company.

He was a member of Trinity United Methodist in Madison.

He was a member of the Paoli Masonic Lodge F&AM No. 119, the Madison Elks Lodge No. 524, and the Mitchell American Legion Post No. 250. He was an avid racquetball player, and enjoyed backgammon, grilling and spending time with his family and friends.

Surviving with his wife, Brenda of Madison; are a daughter, Sara B. Weeks of Columbus; one grandchild; several nieces and nephews; and many close friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, James W. Eversole.

A celebration of life service is planned for 2 p.m. on March 19 at the Trinity United Methodist Church, 412 W. Main St., Madison. Following the service, a gathering of family and friends will be at the Livery Stable, 313 Broadway, Madison.

As a gift to the living, Bob bequeathed his body to the Indiana University School of Medicine.

Edwina Jane Lynn, 90, of Bedford, went home to be with the Lord at 5:30 p.m. Monday at Garden Villa Nursing Facility surrounded by her family.

Born April 7, 1920, in Lawrence County, she was the daughter of Owen and Maud (Rogers) Rout. She married Ezra Lynn on June 22, 1937, and he preceded her in death on April 10, 2001.

Jane was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She was a member of the Fairview Community Church. She taught Sunday school for 40-plus years at the White River Baptist Church. She was a woman of faith and a great prayer warrior.

Survivors include two sons, Carl Lynn and wife Linda of Mitchell, and David Lynn and wife Janet of Bedford; five grandchildren, Jamie Shell, Brian Lynn, Bruce Lynn and wife Sarah, Mark Lynn and fiancé Heather Tincher, and Kevin Lynn; five great-grandchildren, Chelsea, Derek, Cayden, Isaiah, and Isaac Lynn; one sister, Jean Rout; three nieces, Vickie “Dusty” Tolbert and husband Tim, Cindy Rout, and Bobbi Rout; and one great-nephew, Sam Tolbert and wife Kate.

Jane was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and two brothers, John Rout and David Rout who preceded her in death in infancy.

Juanita L. Cleveland Roach, age 89, of Bedford, passed away at noon on Saturday at Golden Living Center of Bloomington.

She was born in Newton Stuart, on Dec. 25, 1921, to William Penn and Elozora (Gregory) Walton. She married Stanley Cleveland in 1938, in Indianapolis, he preceded her in death in 1979. She later married Ray Roach, he preceded her in death in 1996.

Juanita worked at Sarkes-Tarzian in Bloomington as a tuner, also at the Downtown Hotel as a maid and office manager. She was a member of Hillcrest Christian Church in Bedford, and Bedford Senior Citizens.

Survivors include two sons, Donald Cleveland and wife Marilyn of Bedford and David Cleveland of Florida; two daughters, Elizabeth Ann Lee of Bedford, and Janet R. Cleveland of Bedford, five grandchildren, Tim Cleveland of Bedford, Kellie Phillips of Bedford, Troy Haltom of Ellettsville, Tony Haltom of Bedford and Denise Overall of Evansville; six great-grandchildren, Zach and Nick Haltom of Bedford, Justin and Jessica Kenny of Bedford, Chase Cleveland of Bedford and Josh Fleetwood of Brownstown; nieces, Vicky Newlin of Paoli, Renee Goode of Indianapolis and Debbie Nolan of Indianapolis.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Clyde Walton and Lester Walton; and three sisters, Hazel Payton, Fern Stienmetz and Ivalou King.

Margaret Ethel Probasco, 94, Shoals, a resident at the Medco Center of French Lick, died at 5:10 a.m. Sunday at Indiana University Health Paoli Hospital.

She was born Jan. 29, 1917, in Shoals, the daughter of Alfred and Anna (Gammon) Butler. She married Luther Probasco on May 10, 1935, and he preceded her in death in 1988.

She retired from Swift Company of Jasper in 1982.

She is a member of the Shoals Holiness Church.

Survivors include three daughters Loretta Jent of Oolitic, Marilyn Mills of French Lick and Wanda Probasco of Dubois; three sons, Arthur, David and Dennis Probasco, all of Shoals; 14 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Violet Way; stepgrandson, Roger Maryfield; four sisters; and six brothers.
