He married Francis Cooper Elrod at Spice Valley Baptist Church in Mitchell, on Aug. 19, 1972, and she survives He retired in 1990 with 45 years of service from GM Powertrain in Bedford where he was a tool and die maker. He was a member of Oolitic Baptist Church, U.A.W. Local No. 440, U.S. Army Veteran of World War II, Bedford Masonic Lodge No. 14, Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis, and Murat Shrine of Indianapolis. Surviving with his wife Francis Hash of Oolitic; are one son, Rick Hash of Bloomington; one daughter, Vicki Hash Monroe of Louisville, Ky.; two stepdaughters, Carolyn Mann of Arizona and Janice Pipher of Indianapolis; seven grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters-in-law, Mary Hash of Hartford City, Ind. and Ruth Hash of Bedford He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife Betty Hardesty Hash; four brothers, Lee, Bernard, James Vaughn, and Vernon Hash, and one granddaughter, Allison Elaine Hash. January 04, 2009Harold Vance Busick June 29, 1923 — Jan. 3, 2009 Harold Vance Busick, 85, of Mitchell Manor Health and Living Center, formerly of Orleans, died Saturday, January 3, at Dunn Memorial Hospital in Bedford, Indiana. He was born June 29, 1923, in Orange County, Indiana, to his parents, John H. and Cora Chisham Busick. They preceded him in death. He is survived by two brothers, Leopal Busick and Delmar Busick, both of Orleans. There are three sisters, Alberta Staker and Marolyn Judy, both of Orleans, and Carolyn Curry of Fairland, Indiana. Two sisters-in-law, Martha Chisham and Marcella Busick, both of Orleans, and several nieces and nephews survive. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Clarence Chisham and Charles Busick, both of Orleans. He was born Aug. 8, 1955, in Indianapolis to Joseph and Jessie Roberts Staten. Pete worked 22 years at RCA in maintenance. He leaves behind his daughter, Jessie L. Staten of Shelbyville; mother Jessie R. Hartman and step-father Jacob Hartman of Bloomington; step-sister Mona Ward of Martinsville, and half-brothers Cecil and Jimmy Staten. Hyatt, 89, Lexington died at 8:40 p.m. Thursday at Hickory Creek Nursing Home in Scottsburg. She was born Jan. 25, 1919, in Franklin, Ky., the daughter of the late William R. Summers and Grace (Worley) Summers. She married Edward R. Hyatt and he preceded in death on Feb. 24, 2002. She was a member of World Outreach for Christ in Scottsburg. Mabel resided with her niece at home on her farm before recently moving to Hickory Creek for health reasons. She was a former co-owner with her husband of the old Park-N-East Restaurants in Scottsburg, Madison, Columbus and North Vernon for 27 years, retiring in 1981. Survivors include a brother, Bill Summers of Bedford; a sister, Christine Baxter of Shoals; and several nieces and nephews. Colglazier, 96, Williams, passed away at 10:41 a.m. Wednesday at Mitchell Manor Living and Rehabilitation Center. Born Dec. 3, 1912, in Lawrence County, she was the daughter of Noble and Sally (Gore) Reuter. She was married more than 60 years to John W. Colglazier and he preceded her in death in August of 1996. Lela was a homemaker and had owned and operated a dog kennel and also Colglazier’s Antiques. She graduated in 1931 from Fayetteville High School and was a member of the Williams Church of Christ. Lowell Gore was raised in the home of John and Lela and he survives along with his wife, Betty, of Williams. She is also survived by her sisters, Hannah Wagner of New Albany and Jane Taylor of Zionsville; a brother, John Reuter of New Castle; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her parents; husband; and nine brothers and sisters preceded her in death. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Williams Cemetery with Brother Steve Warren officiating. Marie Walker Robling, 83, Jamestown, formerly of Indianapolis, passed away Dec. 31. She was born July 30, 1925, in Bedford, to Harry M. and Glydas E, (Spinks) Walker. She married Cecil A. Robling on Aug. 6, 1949, and he preceded her in death on Nov. 1, 1988. Marie was a graduate of Needmore High School. She was a member of Emerson Avenue Baptist Church, where she was secretary, retiring in 1977. She also enjoyed membership in the Christian Companion class and the Painter’s Retiree club. Marie is survived by her loving children, Gary W. Robling and wife Carol (Giblin), Beth Robling Moxley and husband Jerry, and Noreta Robling Jestus and husband John; sisters, Ula M. Walker Galloway and Joyce A. Walker Campbell and husband Steve; fiance´ Larry Keegan; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Sayer May, 26, 1917 — Dec. 24, 2008 Burrell W. Sayer, 91, of Cadillac, formerly of Sherman, Mich., Pendleton, and Bedford, died at Lakeview Manor in Cadillac, on Dec. 24. He was born May 26, 1917, in Sherman, Mich., to John Calvin Sayer and Anna Lee Sayer. He married his sweetheart, Lizzie M. Smith, on May 17, 1939, and they shared a loving and fulfilling life together until her death on Dec. 1, 2003. Burrell gave his life to Christ at the Muskegon, Mich., Free Methodist Church on May 14, 1949. He worked for Watkins Products and W.T. Rawleigh Company before he and Lizzie became missionaries for the Wesleyan Indian Missions in 1974. He retired in 1985. Burrell and Lizzie were not blessed with children of their own but, while living in Sherman, they became the foster parents of Mike Toepp and Terry (Toepp) Fike for several years. This union became a lifelong bond. Burrell was preceded in death by his wife; parents; and many older half-brothers and half-sisters. Cremation has taken place and burial will take place in the spring with his beloved Lizzie in the Antioch Township Cemetery, Mesick, Mich. Burrell and Lizzie attended Faith Mission Church while living in Bedford. Sherry Kendall May 21, 1954 — Dec. 30, 2008 Sherry Kendall, 54, 1110 N. Marion Street, Mitchell, died at 5:50 p.m. on Tuesday at her residence following a short illness. Born May 21, 1954, in Lawrence County, she was the daughter of Charles P. and Kathryn M. (Cooper) Hedrick. She married Jeffrey Kendall on April 2, 1976, at the First Christian Church in Mitchell. She worked for 33 years in the dietary department of Mitchell Manor. She was a graduate of Mitchell High School and a member of the First Christian Church. Survivors include her husband, Jeffrey Kendall of Mitchell; a daughter, Holly Ann Sykes and husband Nathan of Mitchell; a son, Anthony David Kendall and wife Brittany of Oolitic; two granddaughters, Kathryn Marie and Brooklyn Nicole Sykes; a sister, Sheila Flora and husband George of Mitchell; her mother-in-law, Anetra Kendall of Mitchell; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Charlotte Hedrick; and her father-in-law, Donald Kendall. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the First Christian Church in Mitchell with Pastor Steve Scroggin officiating. Burial will be in Mitchell Cemetery.
